1 Woe vnto them that goe downe into Egypt for helpe, and stay vpon horses, and trust in charets, because they are many, and in horsemen, because they be very strong: but they looke not vnto the holy one of Israel, nor seeke vnto the Lord.
1 Ai dos que descem ao Egito a buscar socorro, e se estribam em cavalos; e têm confiança em carros, porque são muitos; e nos cavaleiros, porque são poderosíssimos; e não atentam para o Santo de Israel, e não buscam ao SENHOR.
2 But he yet is wisest: therefore he wil bring euill, and not turne backe his worde, but he will arise against the house of the wicked, and against the helpe of them that worke vanitie.
2 Todavia também ele é sábio, e fará vir o mal, e não retirará as suas palavras; e levantar-se-á contra a casa dos malfeitores, e contra a ajuda dos que praticam a iniqüidade.
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God, and their horses flesh and not spirite: and when the Lord shall stretch out his hand, the helper shall fall, and hee that is holpen shall fall, and they shall altogether faile.
3 Porque os egípcios são homens, e não Deus; e os seus cavalos, carne, e não espírito; e quando o Senhor estender a sua mão, tanto tropeçará o auxiliador, como cairá o ajudado, e todos juntamente serão consumidos.
4 For thus hath the Lord spoken vnto me, As the lyon or lyons whelpe roareth vpon his praye, against whom if a multitude of shepheards be called, hee will not be afraide at their voyce, neither will humble him selfe at their noise: so shall the Lord of hostes come downe to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
4 Porque assim me disse o Senhor: Como o leão e o leãozinho rugem sobre a sua presa, ainda que se convoque contra ele uma multidão de pastores, não se espantam das suas vozes, nem se abatem pela sua multidão, assim o Senhor dos Exércitos descerá, para pelejar sobre o monte Sião, e sobre o seu outeiro.
5 As birds that flie, so shall the Lord of hostes defend Ierusalem by defending and deliuering, by passing through and preseruing it.
5 Como as aves voam, assim o Senhor dos Exércitos amparará a Jerusalém; ele a amparará, a livrará e, passando, a salvará.
6 O ye children of Israel, turne againe, in as much as ye are sunken deepe in rebellion.
6 Convertei-vos, pois, àquele contra quem os filhos de Israel se rebelaram tão profundamente.
7 For in that day euery man shall cast out his idoles of siluer, and his idoles of golde, which your handes haue made you, euen a sinne.
7 Porque naquele dia cada um lançará fora os seus ídolos de prata, e os seus ídolos de ouro, que vos fabricaram as vossas mãos para pecardes,
8 Then shall Asshur fall by the sworde, not of man, neither shall the sworde of man deuoure him, and hee shall flee from the sworde, and his yong men shall faint.
8 E a Assíria cairá pela espada, não de poderoso homem; e a espada, não de homem desprezível, a consumirá; e fugirá perante a espada e os seus jovens serão tributários.
9 And he shall go for feare to his towre, and his princes shall be afraide of the standart, sayeth the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his fornace in Ierusalem.
9 E de medo passará a sua rocha, e os seus príncipes terão pavor da bandeira, diz o Senhor, cujo fogo está em Sião e a sua fornalha em Jerusalém.
