1 Wo to the rebellious children, sayth the Lord, that take counsell, but not of me, and couer with a couering, but not by my spirit, that they may lay sinne vpon sinne:
1 “Que aflição espera meus filhos rebeldes!”, diz o S “Vocês fazem planos contrários aos meus, acordos não dirigidos por mim; com isso, amontoam pecado sobre pecado.
2 Which walke forth to goe downe into Egypt (and haue not asked at my mouth) to strengthen them selues with the strength of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadowe of Egypt.
2 Pois, sem me consultar, desceram ao Egito em busca de ajuda. Puseram sua confiança na proteção do faraó; tentaram esconder-se na sombra dele.
3 But the strength of Pharaoh shalbe your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
3 Mas, ao confiar no faraó, serão envergonhados; ao esconder-se nele, serão humilhados.
4 For his princes were at Zoan, and his Ambassadours came vnto Hanes.
4 Pois, embora o poder dele se estenda até Zoã, e seus embaixadores tenham chegado a Hanes,
5 They shalbe all ashamed of the people that cannot profite them, nor helpe nor doe them good, but shalbe a shame and also a reproche.
5 todos que confiam nele serão envergonhados; ele de nada os ajudará, mas sim lhes trará humilhação e desonra.”
6 The burden of the beasts of the South, in a land of trouble and anguish, from whence shall come the yong and olde lyon, the viper and fierie flying serpent against them that shall beare their riches vpon the shoulders of the coltes, and their treasures vpon the bounches of the camels, to a people that cannot profite.
6 Recebi esta mensagem acerca dos animais do Neguebe: As caravanas se movem lentamente pelo terrível deserto, lugar de leoas e leões, de serpentes e cobras venenosas. Seguem em direção ao Egito, com jumentos carregados de riquezas, camelos levando muitos tesouros, pagamentos em troca de proteção. O Egito nada dará como retribuição;
7 For the Egyptians are vanitie, and they shall helpe in vaine. Therefore haue I cried vnto her, Their strength is to sit still.
7 as promessas do Egito não têm valor algum! Por isso eu o chamo de Raabe, o Dragão Inofensivo.
8 Now go, and write it before them in a table, and note it in a booke that it may be for the last day for euer and euer:
8 Agora vá e escreva estas palavras; registre-as num livro. Elas permanecerão até o fim dos tempos como testemunha
9 That it is a rebellious people, lying children, and children that would not heare the law of the Lord.
9 de que esse povo é rebelde e teimoso e se recusa a ouvir a lei do S
10 Which say vnto the Seers, See not: and to the Prophets, Prophecie not vnto vs right things: but speake flattering things vnto vs: prophecie errours.
10 Dizem aos videntes: “Não tenham mais visões!”, e aos profetas: “Não nos digam o que é certo. Falem de coisas agradáveis, contem-nos mentiras.
11 Depart out of the way: go aside out of the path: cause the holy one of Israel to cease from vs.
11 Esqueçam a verdade, saiam do caminho estreito. Parem de nos falar do Santo de Israel”.
12 Therefoe thus saith the holy one of Israel, Because you haue cast off this worde, and trust in violence, and wickednes, and stay thereupon,
12 Esta é a resposta do Santo de Israel: “Porque desprezam o que lhes digo e preferem confiar em opressão e mentiras,
13 Therefore this iniquitie shalbe vnto you as a breach that falleth, or a swelling in an hie wall, whose breaking commeth suddenly in a moment.
13 a calamidade virá sobre vocês de repente, como um muro inclinado que se rompe e desmorona. Num instante desabará e cairá por terra.
14 And the breaking thereof is like the breaking of a potters pot, which is broken without pitie, and in the breaking thereof is not found a sheard to take fire out of the hearth, or to take water out of the pit.
14 Serão despedaçados como vasilha de barro, esmigalhados tão completamente que não sobrará um caco grande o suficiente para tirar brasas da lareira ou um pouco de água do poço”.
15 For thus sayd the Lord God, the Holy one of Israel, In rest and quietnes shall ye be saued: in quietnes and in confidence shall be your strength, but ye would not.
15 Assim diz o S enhor Soberano, o Santo de Israel: “Vocês só serão salvos se voltarem para mim e em mim descansarem. Na tranquilidade e na confiança está sua força, mas vocês não quiseram saber.
16 For ye haue sayd, No, but we wil flee away vpon horses. Therefore shall ye flee. We will ride vpon the swiftest. Therefore shall your persecuters be swifter.
16 Disseram: ‘Nada disso! Entraremos na batalha, montados em cavalos velozes’. A única velocidade que verão, porém, será a de seus inimigos os perseguindo!
17 A thousand as one shall flee at the rebuke of one: at the rebuke of fiue shall ye flee, till ye be left as a ship maste vpon the top of a mountaine, and as a beaken vpon an hill.
17 Cada um deles perseguirá mil de vocês; cinco deles farão todos vocês fugirem. Serão deixados como mastro solitário numa colina, como bandeira no alto de um monte distante”.
18 Yet therefore will the Lord waite, that he may haue mercy vpon you, and therefore wil he be exalted, that hee may haue compassion vpon you: for the Lord is the God of iudgement. Blessed are all they that waite for him.
18 Portanto, o S enhor esperará até que voltem para ele, para lhes mostrar seu amor e compaixão. Pois o S felizes os que nele esperam.
19 Surely a people shall dwell in Zion, and in Ierusalem: thou shalt weepe no more: he wil certainly haue mercy vpon thee at the voyce of thy crye: when he heareth thee, he wil answere thee.
19 Ó povo de Sião, que mora em Jerusalém, você não chorará mais! Ele será bondoso quando lhe pedirem ajuda; certamente atenderá a seus clamores.
20 And when the Lord hath giuen you the bread of aduersitie, and the water of affliction, thy raine shalbe no more kept backe, but thine eyes shall see thy raine.
20 Embora o Senhor lhes tenha dado angústia como alimento e aflição como bebida, ele permanecerá com vocês para lhes ensinar. Vocês verão seu mestre com os próprios olhos,
21 And thine eares shall heare a worde behind thee, saying, This is the way, walke ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand, and when thou turnest to the left.
21 e seus ouvidos o ouvirão. Uma voz atrás de vocês dirá: “Este é o caminho pelo qual devem andar”, quer se voltem para a direita, quer para a esquerda.
22 And ye shall pollute the couering of the images of siluer, and the riche ornament of thine images of golde, and cast them away as a menstruous cloth, and thou shalt say vnto it, Get thee hence.
22 Então vocês destruirão todos os seus ídolos de prata e suas valiosas imagens de ouro. Jogarão tudo fora como se fossem trapos imundos e dirão: “Já vai tarde!”.
23 Then shall hee giue raine vnto thy seede, when thou shalt sowe the ground, and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shalbe fat and as oyle: in that day shall thy cattell be fed in large pastures.
23 Então o S enhor os abençoará com chuva na época de plantar. Terão colheitas fartas e muita pastagem para seus animais.
24 The oxen also and the yong asses, that till the ground, shall eate cleane prouender, which is winowed with the shoouel and with the fanne.
24 Os bois e os jumentos que lavram a terra comerão cereais de boa qualidade, e o vento levará a palha.
25 And vpon euery hie mountaine, and vpon euery hie hill shall there be riuers and streames of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers shall fall.
25 No dia em que seus inimigos forem massacrados e as torres caírem, haverá riachos correndo em todos os montes e colinas.
26 Moreouer, the light of the moone shall be as the light of the sunne, and the light of the sunne shalbe seuen folde, and like the light of seuen dayes in the day that the Lord shall binde vp the breach of his people, and heale the stroke of their wound.
26 A lua será tão brilhante quanto o sol, e o sol será sete vezes mais claro, como a luz de sete dias em um só! Assim será quando o S enhor começar a sarar seu povo e a curar as feridas que lhe causou.
27 Beholde, the Name of the Lord commeth from farre, his face is burning, and the burden thereof is heauy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a deuouring fire.
27 Vejam, o S enhor vem de longe, ardendo de ira, cercado de densas nuvens de fumaça! Seus lábios estão cheios de fúria, suas palavras consomem como fogo.
28 And his spirit is as a riuer that ouerfloweth vp to the necke: it deuideth asunder, to fanne the nations with the fanne of vanitie, and there shall be a bridle to cause them to erre in the chawes of the people.
28 Seu sopro é como inundação que sobe até o pescoço de seus inimigos. Com sua peneira, separará as nações para a destruição; colocará nelas um freio e as levará à ruína.
29 But there shall be a song vnto you as in the night, when solemne feast is kept: and gladnes of heart, as he that commeth with a pipe to goe vnto the mount of the Lord, to the mightie one of Israel.
29 Mas vocês entoarão um cântico de alegria, como os cânticos das festas sagradas. Vocês se alegrarão, como quando o flautista conduz um grupo de peregrinos a Jerusalém, o monte do S a Rocha de Israel.
30 And the Lord shall cause his glorious voyce to be heard, and shall declare the lighting downe of his arme with the anger of his countenance, and flame of a deuouring fire, with scattering and tempest, and hailestones.
30 O S enhor fará ouvir sua voz majestosa e mostrará a força de seu braço poderoso. Em sua ira, descerá com chamas devoradoras, chuvas torrenciais, tempestades e pedras de granizo.
31 For with the voyce of the Lord shall Asshur be destroyed, which smote with the rod.
31 Por ordem do S enhor , os assírios serão despedaçados; ele os ferirá mortalmente com seu cetro.
32 And in euery place that ye staffe shall passe, it shall cleaue fast, which the Lord shall lay vpon him with tabrets and harpes: and with battels, and lifting vp of hands shall he fight against it.
32 Quando o S enhor os ferir com sua vara de castigo, seu povo celebrará com tamborins e harpas. Ele levantará seu braço poderoso e lutará contra seus inimigos.
33 For Tophet is prepared of olde: it is euen prepared for the King: hee hath made it deepe and large: the burning thereof is fire and much wood: the breath of the Lord, like a riuer of brimstone, doeth kindle it.
33 Tofete, o lugar de fogo, há muito está pronto para o rei assírio; um monte de lenha aguarda sobre a fogueira. O sopro do S a acenderá.
