1 Woe to the crowne of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim: for his glorious beautie shall be a fading flowre, which is vpon the head of the valley of them that be fat, and are ouercome with wine.
1 Ai da coroa de soberba dos bêbados de Efraim, cujo glorioso ornamento é como a flor que cai, que está sobre a cabeça do fértil vale dos vencidos do vinho.
2 Beholde, the Lord hath a mightie and strong hoste, like a tempest of haile, and a whirlewinde that ouerthroweth, like a tempest of mightie waters that ouerflowe, which throwe to the ground mightily.
2 Eis que o Senhor tem um forte e poderoso; como tempestade de saraiva, tormenta destruidora, e como tempestade de impetuosas águas que transbordam, ele, com a mão, derrubará por terra.
3 They shall be troden vnder foote, euen the crowne and the pride of the drunkards of Ephraim.
3 A coroa de soberba dos bêbados de Efraim será pisada aos pés.
4 For his glorious beautie shall be a fading floure, which is vpon the head of the valley of them that be fatte, and as the hastie fruite afore sommer, which when hee that looketh vpon it, seeth it, while it is in his hand, he eateth it.
4 E a flor caída do seu glorioso ornamento, que está sobre a cabeça do fértil vale, será como o fruto temporão antes do verão, que, vendo-o alguém, e tendo-o ainda na mão, o engole.
5 In that day shall the Lord of hostes be for a crowne of glory, and for a diademe of beautie vnto the residue of his people:
5 Naquele dia o Senhor dos Exércitos será por coroa gloriosa, e por diadema formosa, para os restantes de seu povo.
6 And for a spirite of iudgement to him that sitteth in iudgement, and for strength vnto them that turne away the battell to the gate.
6 E por espírito de juízo, para o que se assenta a julgar, e por fortaleza para os que fazem recuar a peleja até à porta.
7 But they haue erred because of wine, and are out of the way by strong drinke: the priest and the prophet haue erred by strong drinke: they are swallowed vp with wine: they haue gone astraye through strong drinke: they faile in vision: they stumble in iudgement.
7 Mas também estes erram por causa do vinho, e com a bebida forte se desencaminham; até o sacerdote e o profeta erram por causa da bebida forte; são absorvidos pelo vinho; desencaminham-se por causa da bebida forte; andam errados na visão e tropeçam no juízo.
8 For all their tables are full of filthy vomiting: no place is cleane.
8 Porque todas as suas mesas estão cheias de vômitos e imundícia, e não há lugar limpo.
9 Whome shall he teache knowledge? and whome shall he make to vnderstand the thinges that hee heareth? them that are weyned from the milke, and drawen from the breastes.
9 A quem, pois, se ensinaria o conhecimento? E a quem se daria a entender doutrina? Ao desmamado do leite, e ao arrancado dos seios?
10 For precept must be vpon precept, precept vpon precept, line vnto line, line vnto line, there a litle, and there a litle.
10 Porque é mandamento sobre mandamento, mandamento sobre mandamento, regra sobre regra, regra sobre regra, um pouco aqui, um pouco ali.
11 For with a stammering tongue and with a strange language shall he speake vnto this people.
11 Assim por lábios gaguejantes, e por outra língua, falará a este povo.
12 Vnto whome hee saide, This is the rest: giue rest to him that is weary: and this is the refreshing, but they would not heare.
12 Ao qual disse: Este é o descanso, dai descanso ao cansado; e este é o refrigério; porém não quiseram ouvir.
13 Therefore shall the worde of the Lord be vnto them precept vpon precept, precept vpon precept, line vnto line, line vnto line, there a litle and there a litle, that they may goe, and fall backward, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
13 Assim, pois, a palavra do Senhor lhes será mandamento sobre mandamento, mandamento sobre mandamento, regra sobre regra, regra sobre regra, um pouco aqui, um pouco ali; para que vão, e caiam para trás, e se quebrantem e se enlacem, e sejam presos.
14 Wherefore, heare the worde of the Lord, ye scornefull men that rule this people, which is at Ierusalem.
14 Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor, homens escarnecedores, que dominais este povo que está em Jerusalém.
15 Because ye haue said, We haue made a couenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement: though a scourge runne ouer, and passe through, it shall not come at vs: for we haue made falshood our refuge, and vnder vanitie are we hid,
15 Porquanto dizeis: Fizemos aliança com a morte, e com o inferno fizemos acordo; quando passar o dilúvio do açoite, não chegará a nós, porque pusemos a mentira por nosso refúgio, e debaixo da falsidade nos escondemos.
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will laye in Zion a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation. Hee that beleeueth, shall not make haste.
16 Portanto assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Eis que eu assentei em Sião uma pedra, uma pedra já provada, pedra preciosa de esquina, que está bem firme e fundada; aquele que crer não se apresse.
17 Iudgement also will I laye to the rule, and righteousnesse to the balance, and the haile shall sweepe away the vaine confidence, and the waters shall ouerflowe the secret place.
17 E regrarei o juízo pela linha, e a justiça pelo prumo, e a saraiva varrerá o refúgio da mentira, e as águas cobrirão o esconderijo.
18 And your couenant with death shalbe disanulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand: when a scourge shall runne ouer and passe through, then shall ye be trode downe by it.
18 E a vossa aliança com a morte se anulará; e o vosso acordo com o inferno não subsistirá; e, quando o dilúvio do açoite passar, então sereis por ele pisados.
19 When it passeth ouer, it shall take you away: for it shall passe through euery morning in the day, and in the night, and there shalbe onely feare to make you to vnderstand the hearing.
19 Desde que comece a passar, vos arrebatará, porque manhã após manhã passará, de dia e de noite; e será que somente o ouvir tal notícia causará grande turbação.
20 For the bed is streight that it can not suffice, and the couering narowe that one can not wrappe himselfe.
20 Porque a cama será tão curta que ninguém se poderá estender nela; e o cobertor tão estreito que ninguém se poderá cobrir com ele.
21 For the Lord shall stand as in mount Perazim: hee shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his worke, his strage worke, and bring to passe his acte, his strange acte.
21 Porque o Senhor se levantará como no monte Perazim, e se irará, como no vale de Gibeão, para fazer a sua obra, a sua estranha obra, e para executar o seu ato, o seu estranho ato.
22 Nowe therefore be no mockers, least your bondes increase: for I haue heard of the Lord of hostes a consumption, euen determined vpon the whole earth.
22 Agora, pois, não mais escarneçais, para que vossos grilhões não se façam mais fortes; porque já ao Senhor DEUS dos Exércitos ouvi falar de uma destruição, e essa já está determinada sobre toda a terra.
23 Hearken ye, and heare my voyce: hearken ye, and heare my speach.
23 Inclinai os ouvidos, e ouvi a minha voz; atendei bem e ouvi o meu discurso.
24 Doeth the plowe man plowe all the day, to sowe? doeth he open, and breake the clots of his ground?
24 Porventura lavra todo o dia o lavrador, para semear? Ou abre e desterroa todo o dia a sua terra?
25 When he hath made it plaine, wil he not then sowe the fitches, and sowe cummin, and cast in wheat by measure, and the appointed barly and rye in their place?
25 Não é antes assim: quando já tem nivelado a sua superfície, então espalha nela ervilhaca, e semeia cominho; ou lança nela do melhor trigo, ou cevada escolhida, ou centeio, cada qual no seu lugar?
26 For his God doeth instruct him to haue discretion, and doeth teach him.
26 O seu Deus o ensina, e o instrui acerca do que há de fazer.
27 For fitches shall not be threshed with a threshing instrument, neither shall a cart wheele be turned about vpon the cummin: but ye fitches are beaten out with a staffe, and cummin with a rod.
27 Porque a ervilhaca não se trilha com trilho, nem sobre o cominho passa roda de carro; mas com uma vara se sacode a ervilhaca, e o cominho com um pau.
28 Bread corne when it is threshed, hee doeth not alway thresh it, neither doeth the wheele of his cart still make a noyse, neither will he breake it with the teeth thereof.
28 O trigo é esmiuçado, mas não se trilha continuamente, nem se esmiúça com as rodas do seu carro, nem se quebra com os seus cavaleiros.
29 This also commeth from the Lord of hostes, which is wonderfull in counsell, and excellent in workes.
29 Até isto procede do Senhor dos Exércitos; porque é maravilhoso em conselho e grande em obra.
