1 For the Law hauing the shadowe of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can neuer with those sacrifices, which they offer yeere by yeere continually, sanctifie the commers thereunto.
1 Ora, visto que a lei é apenas uma sombra dos bens vindouros, não a imagem real das coisas, nunca consegue aperfeiçoar aqueles que se aproximam de Deus com os mesmos sacrifícios que, ano após ano, continuamente, eles oferecem.
2 For would they not then haue ceased to haue bene offered, because that the offerers once purged, should haue had no more conscience of sinnes?
2 Se isto fosse possível, será que os sacrifícios não teriam deixado de ser oferecidos? Porque os que prestam culto, tendo sido purificados uma vez por todas, não mais teriam consciência de pecados!
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance againe of sinnes euery yeere.
3 Entretanto, nesses sacrifícios ocorre recordação de pecados todos os anos,
4 For it is vnpossible that the blood of bulles and goates should take away sinnes.
4 porque é impossível que o sangue de touros e de bodes remova pecados.
5 Wherefore when he commeth into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offring thou wouldest not: but a body hast thou ordeined me.
5 Por isso, ao entrar no mundo, Cristo disse: “Sacrifício e oferta não quiseste, mas preparaste um corpo para mim;
6 In burnt offerings, and sinne offrings thou hast had no pleasure.
6 não te agradaste de holocaustos e ofertas pelo pecado.
7 Then I sayd, Lo, I come (In the beginning of the booke it is written of me) that I should doe thy will, O God.
7 Então eu disse: ‘Eis aqui estou! No rolo do livro está escrito a meu respeito. Estou aqui para fazer, ó Deus, a tua vontade.’”
8 Aboue, when he sayd, Sacrifice and offring, and burnt offrings, and sinne offrings thou wouldest not haue, neither hadst pleasure therein (which are offered by the Lawe)
8 Depois de dizer, como acima: “Sacrifícios, ofertas, holocaustos e ofertas pelo pecado não quiseste, nem deles te agradaste” — coisas que se oferecem segundo a lei —,
9 Then sayd he, Lo, I come to doe thy wil, O God, he taketh away the first, that he may stablish the second.
9 num segundo momento acrescentou: “Eis aqui estou para fazer, ó Deus, a tua vontade.” Ele remove o primeiro para estabelecer o segundo.
10 By the which wil we are sanctified, euen by the offring of the body of Iesus Christ once made.
10 Nessa vontade é que temos sido santificados, mediante a oferta do corpo de Jesus Cristo, uma vez por todas.
11 And euery Priest standeth dayly ministring, and oft times offreth one maner of offring, which can neuer take away sinnes:
11 Ora, todo sacerdote se apresenta, dia após dia, para exercer o serviço sagrado e oferecer muitas vezes os mesmos sacrifícios, que nunca jamais podem remover pecados.
12 But this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sinnes, sitteth for euer at the right hand of God,
12 Jesus, porém, tendo oferecido, para sempre, um único sacrifício pelos pecados, assentou-se à direita de Deus,
13 And from hencefoorth tarieth, till his enemies be made his footestoole.
13 aguardando, daí em diante, até que os seus inimigos sejam postos por estrado dos seus pés.
14 For with one offering hath he consecrated for euer them that are sanctified.
14 Porque, com uma única oferta, aperfeiçoou para sempre os que estão sendo santificados.
15 For the holy Ghost also beareth vs record: for after that he had sayd before,
15 E disto nos dá testemunho também o Espírito Santo. Porque, após ter dito:
16 This is the Testament that I will make vnto them after those dayes, sayth the Lord, I wil put my Lawes in their heart, and in their mindes I will write them.
16 “Esta é a aliança que farei com eles, depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor: Imprimirei as minhas leis no coração deles e as inscreverei sobre a sua mente”,
17 And their sinnes and iniquities will I remember no more.
17 acrescenta: “Também dos seus pecados e das suas iniquidades jamais me lembrarei.”
18 Nowe where remission of these things is, there is no more offering for sinne.
18 Ora, onde há remissão de pecados, não existe mais necessidade de sacrifício pelo pecado.
19 Seeing therefore, brethren, that by the blood of Iesus we may be bolde to enter into the Holy place,
19 Portanto, meus irmãos, tendo ousadia para entrar no Santuário, pelo sangue de Jesus,
20 By the newe and liuing way, which hee hath prepared for vs, through the vaile, that is, his flesh:
20 pelo novo e vivo caminho que ele nos abriu por meio do véu, isto é, pela sua carne,
21 And seeing we haue an hie Priest, which is ouer the house of God,
21 e tendo um grande sacerdote sobre a casa de Deus,
22 Let vs drawe neere with a true heart in assurance of faith, our hearts being pure from an euill conscience,
22 aproximemo-nos com um coração sincero, em plena certeza de fé, tendo o coração purificado de má consciência e o corpo lavado com água pura.
23 And washed in our bodies with pure water, let vs keepe the profession of our hope, without wauering, (for he is faithfull that promised)
23 Guardemos firme a confissão da esperança, sem vacilar, pois quem fez a promessa é fiel.
24 And let vs consider one another, to prouoke vnto loue, and to good workes,
24 Cuidemos também de nos animar uns aos outros no amor e na prática de boas obras.
25 Not forsaking the fellowship that we haue among our selues, as the maner of some is: but let vs exhort one another, and that so much the more, because ye see that the day draweth neere.
25 Não deixemos de nos congregar, como é costume de alguns. Pelo contrário, façamos admoestações, ainda mais agora que vocês veem que o Dia se aproxima.
26 For if we sinne willingly after that we haue receiued and acknowledged that trueth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sinnes,
26 Porque, se continuarmos a pecar de propósito, depois de termos recebido o conhecimento da verdade, já não resta sacrifício pelos pecados.
27 But a fearefull looking for of iudgement, and violent fire, which shall deuoure the aduersaries.
27 Pelo contrário, resta apenas uma terrível expectativa de juízo e fogo vingador prestes a consumir os adversários.
28 He that despiseth Moses Law, dieth without mercy vnder two, or three witnesses:
28 Quem tiver rejeitado a lei de Moisés morre sem misericórdia, pelo depoimento de duas ou três testemunhas.
29 Of howe much sorer punishment suppose ye shall hee be worthy, which treadeth vnder foote the Sonne of God, and counteth the blood of the Testament as an vnholy thing, wherewith he was sanctified, and doeth despite the Spirit of grace?
29 Imaginem quanto mais severo deve ser o castigo daquele que pisou o Filho de Deus, profanou o sangue da aliança com o qual foi santificado e insultou o Espírito da graça!
30 For we know him that hath sayd, Vengeance belongeth vnto mee: I will recompense, saith the Lord. And againe, The Lord shall iudge his people.
30 Pois conhecemos aquele que disse: “A mim pertence a vingança; eu retribuirei.” E outra vez: “O Senhor julgará o seu povo.”
31 It is a fearefull thing to fall into the hands of the liuing God.
31 Horrível coisa é cair nas mãos do Deus vivo.
32 Nowe call to remembrance the dayes that are passed, in the which, after ye had receiued light, ye endured a great fight in afflictions,
32 Lembrem-se dos dias passados, quando, depois que foram iluminados, vocês sustentaram grande luta e sofrimentos.
33 Partly while yee were made a gazing stocke both by reproches and afflictions, and partly while ye became companions of them which were so tossed to and from.
33 Em certos momentos vocês foram transformados em espetáculo, tanto para serem insultados quanto para serem maltratados; em outros vocês se tornaram coparticipantes com aqueles que foram tratados assim.
34 For both ye sorowed with mee for my bonds, and suffered with ioy the spoyling of your goods, knowing in your selues howe that ye haue in heauen a better, and an enduring substance.
34 Porque vocês não apenas se compadeceram dos encarcerados, mas também aceitaram com alegria a espoliação dos seus bens, porque sabiam que tinham um patrimônio superior e durável.
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence which hath great recompense of reward.
35 Portanto, não percam a confiança de vocês, porque ela tem grande recompensa.
36 For ye haue neede of patience, that after ye haue done the will of God, ye might receiue the promise.
36 Vocês precisam perseverar, para que, havendo feito a vontade de Deus, alcancem a promessa.
37 For yet a very litle while, and hee that shall come, will come, and will not tary.
37 “Porque, ainda dentro de pouco tempo, aquele que vem virá e não irá demorar;
38 Nowe the iust shall liue by faith: but if any withdrawe himselfe, my soule shall haue no pleasure in him.
38 mas o meu justo viverá pela fé; e, se retroceder, dele a minha alma não se agradará.”
39 But we are not they which withdrawe our selues vnto perdition, but follow faith vnto the conseruation of the soule.
39 Nós, porém, não somos dos que retrocedem para a perdição, mas somos da fé, para a preservação da alma.
