1 Then Ioseph fell vpon his fathers face and wept vpon him, and kissed him.
1 José atirou-se sobre seu pai, chorou sobre ele e o beijou.
2 And Ioseph commanded his seruantes the physicions, to enbaume his father, and the physicions enbaumed Israel.
2 Em seguida, deu ordens aos médicos que o serviam para que embalsamassem o corpo de seu pai, e Jacó foi embalsamado.
3 So fourtie dayes were accomplished (for so long did the dayes of them that were enbaumed last) and the Egyptians bewayled him seuentie dayes.
3 O processo de embalsamamento levou os quarenta dias habituais. E os egípcios lamentaram sua morte durante setenta dias.
4 And when the dayes of his mourning were past, Ioseph spake to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If I haue nowe found fauour in your eyes, speake, I pray you, in the eares of Pharaoh, and say,
4 Quando terminou o período de luto, José procurou os conselheiros do faraó e lhes disse: “Por gentileza, peço que falem com o faraó em meu favor.
5 My father made me sweare, saying, Loe, I die, bury me in my graue, which I haue made me in the land of Canaan: now therefore let me go, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I wil come againe.
5 Digam-lhe que meu pai me fez prestar um juramento. Disse: ‘Morrerei em breve. Leve meu corpo de volta para a terra de Canaã e coloque-me na sepultura que preparei para mim’. Portanto, peço que me deixe ir sepultar meu pai; depois, voltarei sem demora”.
6 Then Pharaoh said, Goe vp and bury thy father, as he made thee to sweare.
6 O faraó atendeu ao pedido de José e disse: “Vá e sepulte seu pai, como ele o fez prometer”.
7 So Ioseph went vp to bury his father, and with him went all the seruants of Pharaoh, both the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt.
7 Então José partiu para sepultar seu pai. Foi acompanhado de todos os oficiais do faraó, todos os membros mais importantes da casa do faraó e todos os oficiais de alto escalão do Egito.
8 Likewise all the house of Ioseph, and his brethren, and his fathers house: onely their children, and their sheepe, and their cattell left they in the land of Goshen.
8 José também levou consigo toda a sua família, seus irmãos e a família deles. As crianças pequenas, os rebanhos e o gado, porém, deixaram na terra de Gósen.
9 And there went vp with him both charets and horsemen: and they were an exceeding great company.
9 Muitas carruagens e seus condutores acompanharam José, formando um grande cortejo.
10 And they came to Goren Atad, which is beyond Iorden, and there they made a great and exceeding sore lamentation: and he mourned for his father seuen dayes.
10 Quando chegaram à eira de Atade, perto do rio Jordão, realizaram uma grande cerimônia fúnebre, com um período de sete dias de luto pelo pai de José.
11 And when the Canaanites the inhabitants of the lande sawe the mourning in Goren Atad, they sayde, This is a great mourning vnto the Egyptians: wherefore the name thereof was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond Iorden.
11 Os cananeus que moravam na região os viram chorar na eira de Atade e mudaram o nome do lugar (que fica próximo ao Jordão) para Abel-Mizraim, pois disseram: “Este é um lugar de lamento profundo para esses egípcios”.
12 So his sonnes did vnto him, according as he had commanded them:
12 Assim, os filhos de Jacó fizeram o que ele lhes havia ordenado.
13 For his sonnes caried him into the lande of Canaan, and buried him in the caue of the fielde of Machpelah, which caue Abraham bought with the fielde, to be a place to bury in, of Ephron the Hittite besides Mamre.
13 Levaram seu corpo para a terra de Canaã e o sepultaram na caverna no campo de Macpela, perto de Manre. Essa é a caverna que Abraão havia comprado de Efrom, o hitita, como sepultura permanente.
14 Then Ioseph returned into Egypt, he and his brethren, and al that went vp with him to bury his father, after that he had buried his father.
14 Depois de sepultar Jacó, José voltou para o Egito com seus irmãos e com todos que o haviam acompanhado.
15 And when Iosephs brethren saw that their father was dead, they sayde, It may be that Ioseph will hate vs, and will pay vs againe all the euill, which we did vnto him.
15 Uma vez que seu pai estava morto, porém, os irmãos de José ficaram temerosos e disseram: “Agora José mostrará sua ira e se vingará de todo o mal que lhe fizemos”.
16 Therefore they sent vnto Ioseph, saying, Thy father commanded before his death, saying,
16 Por isso, enviaram a seguinte mensagem a José: “Antes de morrer, nosso pai mandou
17 Thus shall ye say vnto Ioseph, Forgiue now, I pray thee, the trespasse of thy brethren, and their sinne: for they rewarded thee euil. And nowe, we pray thee, forgiue the trespasse of the seruants of thy fathers God. And Ioseph wept, when they spake vnto him.
17 que lhe disséssemos: ‘Por favor, perdoe seus irmãos pelo grande mal que eles lhe fizeram, pelo pecado que cometeram ao tratá-lo com tanta crueldade’. Por isso, nós, servos do Deus de seu pai, suplicamos que você perdoe nosso pecado”. Quando José recebeu a mensagem, começou a chorar.
18 Also his brethren came vnto him, and fell downe before his face, and sayde, Beholde, we be thy seruants.
18 Depois, seus irmãos chegaram e se curvaram com o rosto no chão diante de José. “Somos seus escravos!”, disseram eles.
19 To whome Ioseph sayde, Feare not: for am not I vnder God?
19 José, porém, respondeu: “Não tenham medo de mim. Por acaso sou Deus para castigá-los?
20 When ye thought euill against mee, God disposed it to good, that he might bring to passe, as it is this day, and saue much people aliue.
20 Vocês pretendiam me fazer o mal, mas Deus planejou tudo para o bem. Colocou-me neste cargo para que eu pudesse salvar a vida de muitos.
21 Feare not nowe therefore, I will nourish you, and your children: and hee comforted them, and spake kindly vnto them.
21 Não tenham medo. Continuarei a cuidar de vocês e de seus filhos”. Desse modo, ele os tranquilizou ao tratá-los com bondade.
22 So Ioseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his fathers house: and Ioseph liued an hundreth and tenne yeere.
22 José, seus irmãos e suas famílias continuaram a viver no Egito. José viveu 110 anos.
23 And Ioseph saw Ephraims children, euen vnto the third generation: also the sonnes of Machir the sonne of Manasseh were brought vp on Iosephs knees.
23 Chegou a ver três gerações de descendentes de seu filho Efraim e o nascimento dos filhos de Maquir, filho de Manassés, os quais ele tomou para si como se fossem seus.
24 And Ioseph sayd vnto his brethren, I am ready to dye, and God will surely visite you, and bring you out of this land, vnto ye land which hee sware vnto Abraham, vnto Izhak, and vnto Iaakob.
24 José disse a seus irmãos: “Em breve morrerei, mas certamente Deus os ajudará e os tirará desta terra. Ele os levará de volta para a terra que prometeu solenemente dar a Abraão, Isaque e Jacó”.
25 And Ioseph tooke an othe of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visite you, and ye shall cary my bones hence.
25 Então José fez os filhos de Israel prestarem um juramento e disse: “Quando Deus vier ajudá-los e conduzi-los de volta, levem meus ossos com vocês”.
26 So Ioseph died, when he was an hundreth and ten yere olde: and they enbaumed him and put him in a chest in Egypt.
26 José morreu com 110 anos. Os egípcios o embalsamaram e o colocaram em um caixão no Egito.
