1 Then came Ioseph and tolde Pharaoh, and sayde, My father, and my brethren, and their sheepe, and their cattell, and all that they haue, are come out of the land of Canaan, and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
1 José foi ver o faraó e lhe disse: “Meus pais e meus irmãos chegaram da terra de Canaã. Trouxeram seus rebanhos, seu gado e todos os seus bens, e agora estão na região de Gósen”.
2 And Ioseph tooke part of his brethren, euen fiue men, and presented them vnto Pharaoh.
2 José levou consigo cinco de seus irmãos e os apresentou ao faraó.
3 Then Pharaoh said vnto his brethren, What is your trade? And they answered Pharaoh, Thy seruants are shepheards, both we and our fathers.
3 “Em que vocês trabalham?”, o faraó perguntou aos irmãos. Eles responderam: “Nós, seus servos, somos pastores, como nossos antepassados.
4 They sayde moreouer vnto Pharaoh, For to soiourne in ye lande are we come: for thy seruants haue no pasture for their sheepe, so sore is ye famine in the lande of Canaan. Nowe therefore, we pray thee, let thy seruants dwel in the land of Goshen.
4 Viemos morar no Egito por algum tempo, pois não há pastagem para nossos rebanhos em Canaã. A fome é terrível naquela região. Por isso, pedimos sua permissão para morar na região de Gósen”.
5 Then spake Pharaoh to Ioseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come vnto thee.
5 Então o faraó disse a José: “Agora que seu pai e seus irmãos estão com você,
6 The lande of Egypt is before thee: in the best place of the land make thy father and thy brethren dwel: let the dwel in the land of Goshen: and if thou knowest that there be men of actiuitie among them, make them rulers ouer my cattell.
6 escolha qualquer lugar em todo o Egito para morarem. Dê-lhes a melhor terra do Egito. Que vivam na região de Gósen. Se você descobrir entre eles homens capazes, coloque-os para cuidar de meus rebanhos”.
7 Ioseph also brought Iaakob his father, and set him before Pharaoh. And Iaakob saluted Pharaoh.
7 Em seguida, José trouxe seu pai, Jacó, e o apresentou ao faraó. E Jacó abençoou o faraó.
8 Then Pharaoh sayde vnto Iaakob, Howe olde art thou?
8 “Quantos anos o senhor tem?”, perguntou o faraó.
9 And Iaakob sayd vnto Pharaoh, The whole time of my pilgrimage is an hundreth and thirty yeeres: fewe and euill haue the dayes of my life bene, and I haue not attayned vnto the yeeres of the life of my fathers, in the dayes of their pilgrimages.
9 Jacó respondeu: “Tenho andado por este mundo há 130 árduos anos. Comparada à vida de meus antepassados, minha vida foi curta”.
10 And Iaakob tooke leaue of Pharaoh, and departed from the presence of Pharaoh.
10 Então Jacó abençoou o faraó novamente antes de deixar a corte.
11 And Ioseph placed his father, and his brethren, and gaue them possession in the lande of Egypt, in the best of the land, euen in the lande of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
11 José deu a seu pai e a seus irmãos a melhor terra do Egito, a região de Ramessés, e os acomodou ali, conforme o faraó havia ordenado.
12 And Ioseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his fathers houshold with bread, euen to the yong children.
12 José também providenciou mantimentos para seu pai e seus irmãos, em quantidades proporcionais ao número de seus dependentes, incluindo as crianças pequenas.
13 Now there was no bread in all the land: for the famine was exceeding sore: so that the land of Egypt, and the land of Canaan were famished by reason of the famine.
13 A essa altura, a escassez era tanta que se esgotaram todos os mantimentos, e havia gente passando fome em toda a terra do Egito e de Canaã.
14 And Ioseph gathered all the money, that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corne which they bought, and Ioseph layd vp the money in Pharaohs house.
14 Com o tempo, vendendo cereais para o povo, José arrecadou todo o dinheiro do Egito e de Canaã e o depositou no tesouro do faraó.
15 So when money fayled in the lande of Egypt, and in the lande of Canaan, then all the Egyptians came vnto Ioseph, and sayde, Giue vs bread: for why should we dye before thee? for our money is spent.
15 Quando acabou o dinheiro do povo do Egito e de Canaã, todos os egípcios foram implorar a José: “Não temos mais dinheiro! Mas, por favor, dê-nos alimento, ou morreremos de fome diante dos seus olhos!”.
16 Then saide Ioseph, Bring your cattell, and I will giue you for your cattell, if your money be spent.
16 José respondeu: “Visto que seu dinheiro acabou, tragam-me seus animais. Eu lhes darei alimento em troca”.
17 So they brought their cattell vnto Ioseph, and Ioseph gaue them bread for the horses, and for the flockes of sheepe, and for the heards of cattel, and for the asses: so he fed them with bread for all their cattell that yeere.
17 Então eles entregaram seus animais a José em troca de alimento. José lhes forneceu mantimentos para mais um ano em troca de seus cavalos, rebanhos de ovelhas, bois e jumentos.
18 But when the yeere was ended, they came vnto him the next yeere, and sayd vnto him, We will not hide from my lord, that since our money is spent, and my lord hath the heards of the cattel, there is nothing left in the sight of my lorde, but our bodies and our ground.
18 Mas aquele ano chegou ao fim e, no ano seguinte, o povo voltou a José, dizendo: “Não podemos esconder a verdade. Nosso dinheiro acabou, e nossos rebanhos e gado lhe pertencem. Não nos resta coisa alguma para oferecer além de nosso corpo e nossas terras.
19 Why shall we perish in thy sight, both we, and our land? bye vs and our land for bread, and we and our land will be bonde to Pharaoh: therefore giue vs seede, that we may liue and not dye, and that the land go not to waste.
19 Por que morreríamos de fome diante dos seus olhos? Compre nossas terras em troca de mantimento; oferecemos nossas propriedades e a nós mesmos como servos do faraó. Dê-nos cereais para que vivamos e não morramos, e para que a terra não fique vazia e desolada”.
20 So Ioseph bought all the lande of Egypt for Pharaoh: for the Egyptians solde euery man his ground because the famine was sore vpon the: so the land became Pharaohs.
20 Assim, José comprou toda a terra do Egito para o faraó. Todos os egípcios venderam seus campos, pois a fome era terrível, e em pouco tempo todas as terras passaram a ser propriedade do faraó.
21 And he remoued the people vnto the cities, from one side of Egypt euen to the other.
21 Quanto ao povo, José os tornou todos escravos, de uma extremidade do Egito à outra.
22 Onely the lande of the Priestes bought he not: for the Priestes had an ordinarie of Pharaoh, and they did eate their ordinarie, which Pharaoh gaue them: wherefore they solde not their grounde.
22 As únicas terras que ele não comprou foram as dos sacerdotes. Eles recebiam do faraó uma porção regular de mantimentos, por isso não precisaram vender suas terras.
23 Then Ioseph sayd vnto the people, Behold, I haue bought you this daye, and your lande for Pharaoh: lo, here is seede for you: sowe therefore the grounde.
23 Então José disse ao povo: “Hoje eu comprei vocês e suas terras para o faraó. Em troca, fornecerei sementes para cultivarem os campos.
24 And of the encrease ye shall giue the fifth part vnto Pharaoh, and foure partes shalbe yours for the seede of the fielde, and for your meate, and for them of your housholdes, and for your children to eate.
24 Quando vocês os ceifarem, um quinto da colheita será do faraó. Fiquem com os outros quatro quintos e usem como alimento para vocês, para os membros de sua casa e para suas crianças”.
25 Then they answered, Thou hast saued our liues: let vs finde grace in the sight of my Lord, and we will be Pharaohs seruants.
25 “O senhor salvou nossa vida!”, exclamaram. “Permita-nos servir ao faraó.”
26 Then Ioseph made it a lawe ouer the land of Egypt vnto this day, that Pharaoh should haue the fift part, except the land of the priests only, which was not Pharaohs.
26 Então José mandou publicar um decreto que vale até hoje na terra do Egito, segundo o qual um quinto de todas as colheitas pertence ao faraó. Apenas as terras dos sacerdotes não foram entregues ao faraó.
27 And Israel dwelt in the lande of Egypt, in the countrey of Goshen: and they had their possessions therein, and grewe and multiplied exceedingly.
27 Enquanto isso, o povo de Israel se estabeleceu na região de Gósen, no Egito. Ali, adquiriram propriedades e tiveram muitos filhos, e sua população cresceu rapidamente.
28 Moreouer, Iaakob liued in the lande of Egypt seuenteene yeeres, so that the whole age of Iaakob was an hundreth fourtie and seuen yeere.
28 Depois de chegar ao Egito, Jacó viveu mais dezessete anos; portanto, viveu ao todo 147 anos.
29 Now when the time drewe neere that Israel must dye, he called his sonne Ioseph, and sayde vnto him, If I haue nowe founde grace in thy sight, put thine hand nowe vnder my thigh, and deale mercifully and truely with me: burie me not, I pray thee, in Egypt.
29 Quando se aproximava a hora de sua morte, Jacó chamou seu filho José e lhe disse: “Peço que me faça um favor. Coloque sua mão debaixo da minha coxa e jure que mostrará sua bondade e lealdade a mim atendendo a este último desejo: não me sepulte no Egito.
30 But when I shall sleepe with my fathers, thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury mee in their buryall. And he answered, I will doe as thou hast sayde.
30 Quando eu morrer, leve meu corpo para fora do Egito e sepulte-me com meus antepassados”. José prometeu: “Farei como o senhor me pede”.
31 The he said, Sweare vnto me. And he sware vnto him. And Israel worshipped towardes the beds head.
31 “Jure que o fará”, insistiu. José fez o juramento, e Jacó se curvou humildemente à cabeceira de sua cama.
