1 Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.
1 Houve um tempo em que todos os habitantes do mundo falavam a mesma língua e usavam as mesmas palavras.
2 And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.
2 Ao migrarem do leste, encontraram uma planície na terra da Babilônia, onde se estabeleceram.
3 And they said one to another, Come, let vs make bricke, and burne it in the fire. So they had bricke for stone, and slime had they in steade of morter.
3 Começaram a dizer uns aos outros: “Venham, vamos fazer tijolos e endurecê-los no fogo”. (Naquela região, era costume usar tijolos em vez de pedras, e betume em vez de argamassa.)
4 Also they said, Goe to, let vs builde vs a citie and a towre, whose top may reache vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, lest we be scattered vpon the whole earth.
4 Depois, disseram: “Venham, vamos construir uma cidade com uma torre que chegue até o céu. Assim, ficaremos famosos e não seremos espalhados pelo mundo”.
5 But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.
5 O S enhor , porém, desceu para ver a cidade e a torre que estavam construindo.
6 And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.
6 “Vejam!”, disse o S enhor . “Todos se uniram e falam a mesma língua. Se isto é o começo do que fazem, nada do que se propuserem a fazer daqui em diante lhes será impossível.
7 Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.
7 Venham, vamos descer e confundi-los com línguas diferentes, para que não consigam mais entender uns aos outros.”
8 So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.
8 Assim, o S enhor os espalhou pelo mundo inteiro, e eles pararam de construir a cidade.
9 Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.
9 Ela recebeu o nome de Babel, pois ali o S enhor confundiu as pessoas com línguas diferentes e as espalhou pelo mundo.
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundreth yeere olde, and begate Arpachshad two yeere after the flood.
10 Este é o relato da família de Sem. Dois anos depois do dilúvio, aos 100 anos, Sem gerou
11 And Shem liued, after he begate Arpachshad, fiue hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
11 Depois do nascimento de Arfaxade, Sem viveu mais 500 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
12 Also Arpachshad liued fiue and thirtie yeeres, and begate Shelah.
12 Aos 35 anos, Arfaxade gerou Salá.
13 And Arpachshad liued, after he begate Shelah, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
13 Depois do nascimento de Salá, Arfaxade viveu mais 403 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
14 And Shelah liued thirtie yeeres, and begat Eber.
14 Aos 30 anos, Salá gerou Héber.
15 So Shelah liued, after he begat Eber, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
15 Depois do nascimento de Héber, Salá viveu mais 403 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
16 Likewise Eber liued foure and thirtie yeres, and begate Peleg.
16 Aos 34 anos, Héber gerou Pelegue.
17 So Eber liued, after he begate Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters
17 Depois do nascimento de Pelegue, Héber viveu mais 430 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
18 And Peleg liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Reu.
18 Aos 30 anos, Pelegue gerou Reú.
19 And Peleg liued, after he begate Reu, two hundreth and nine yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
19 Depois do nascimento de Reú, Pelegue viveu mais 209 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
20 Also Reu liued two and thirtie yeeres, and begate Serug.
20 Aos 32 anos, Reú gerou Serugue.
21 So Reu liued, after he begate Serug, two hundreth and seuen yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
21 Depois do nascimento de Serugue, Reú viveu mais 207 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
22 Moreouer Serug liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Nahor.
22 Aos 30 anos, Serugue gerou Naor.
23 And Serug liued, after he begate Nahor, two hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
23 Depois do nascimento de Naor, Serugue viveu mais 200 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
24 And Nahor liued nine and twentie yeeres, and begate Terah.
24 Aos 29 anos, Naor gerou Terá.
25 So Nahor liued, after he begate Terah, an hundreth and nineteene yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
25 Depois do nascimento de Terá, Naor viveu mais 119 anos e teve outros filhos e filhas.
26 So Terah liued seuentie yeeres, and begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
26 Depois que completou 70 anos, Terá gerou Abrão, Naor e Harã.
27 Nowe these are the generations of Terah: Terah begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begate Lot.
27 Este é o relato da família de Terá, pai de Abrão, Naor e Harã. Harã, que foi o pai de Ló,
28 Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
28 morreu em Ur dos caldeus, sua terra natal, enquanto seu pai, Terá, ainda vivia.
29 So Abram and Nahor tooke them wiues. The name of Abrams wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
29 Tanto Abrão como Naor se casaram. A mulher de Abrão se chamava Sarai, e a mulher de Naor, Milca. (Milca e sua irmã, Iscá, eram filhas de Harã, irmão de Naor.)
30 But Sarai was barren, and had no childe.
30 Sarai, porém, não conseguia engravidar e não tinha filhos.
31 Then Terah tooke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran, his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe, his sonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to goe into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran, and dwelt there.
31 Certo dia, Terá tomou seu filho Abrão, sua nora Sarai (mulher de seu filho Abrão) e seu neto Ló (filho de seu filho Harã) e se mudou de Ur dos caldeus. Partiram em direção à terra de Canaã, mas pararam em Harã e se estabeleceram ali.
32 So the dayes of Terah were two hundreth and fiue yeeres, and Terah died in Haran.
32 Terá viveu 205 anos e morreu enquanto ainda estava em Harã.
