1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
1 Vós, filhos, sede obedientes a vossos pais no Senhor, porque isto é justo.
2 Honour thy father and mother (which is the first commandement with promise)
2 Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe, que é o primeiro mandamento com promessa,
3 That it may be well with thee, and that thou mayst liue long on earth.
3 para que te vá bem, e vivas muito tempo sobre a terra.
4 And ye, fathers, prouoke not your children to wrath: but bring them vp in instruction and information of the Lord.
4 E vós, pais, não provoqueis a ira a vossos filhos, mas criai-os na doutrina e admoestação do Senhor.
5 Seruants, be obedient vnto them that are your masters, according to the flesh, with feare and trembling in singlenesse of your hearts as vnto Christ,
5 Vós, servos, obedecei a vosso senhor segundo a carne, com temor e tremor, na sinceridade de vosso coração, como a Cristo,
6 Not with seruice to the eye, as men pleasers, but as the seruants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
6 não servindo à vista, como para agradar aos homens, mas como servos de Cristo, fazendo de coração a vontade de Deus;
7 With good will, seruing the Lord, and not men.
7 servindo de boa vontade como ao Senhor e não como aos homens,
8 And knowe ye that whatsoeuer good thing any man doeth, that same shall he receiue of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
8 sabendo que cada um receberá do Senhor todo o bem que fizer, seja servo, seja livre.
9 And ye masters, doe the same things vnto them, putting away threatning: and know that euen your master also is in heauen, neither is there respect of person with him.
9 E vós, senhores, fazei o mesmo para com eles, deixando as ameaças, sabendo também que o Senhor deles e vosso está no céu e que para com ele não há acepção de pessoas.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
10 No demais, irmãos meus, fortalecei-vos no Senhor e na força do seu poder.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the assaultes of the deuil.
11 Revesti-vos de toda a armadura de Deus, para que possais estar firmes contra as astutas ciladas do diabo;
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, and against the worldly gouernours, the princes of the darkenesse of this worlde, against spirituall wickednesses, which are in ye hie places.
12 porque não temos que lutar contra carne e sangue, mas, sim, contra os principados, contra as potestades, contra os príncipes das trevas deste século, contra as hostes espirituais da maldade, nos lugares celestiais.
13 For this cause take vnto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to resist in the euill day, and hauing finished all things, stand fast.
13 Portanto, tomai toda a armadura de Deus, para que possais resistir no dia mau e, havendo feito tudo, ficar firmes.
14 Stand therefore, and your loynes girded about with veritie, and hauing on the brest plate of righteousnesse,
14 Estai, pois, firmes, tendo cingidos os vossos lombos com a verdade, e vestida a couraça da justiça,
15 And your feete shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.
15 e calçados os pés na preparação do evangelho da paz;
16 Aboue all, take the shielde of faith, wherewith ye may quench all the fierie dartes of the wicked,
16 tomando sobretudo o escudo da fé, com o qual podereis apagar todos os dardos inflamados do maligno.
17 And take the helmet of saluation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the worde of God.
17 Tomai também o capacete da salvação e a espada do Espírito, que é a palavra de Deus,
18 And pray alwayes with all maner prayer and supplication in the Spirit: and watch thereunto with all perseuerance and supplication for al Saints,
18 orando em todo tempo com toda oração e súplica no Espírito e vigiando nisso com toda perseverança e súplica por todos os santos
19 And for me, that vtterance may be giuen vnto me, that I may open my mouth boldly to publish the secret of the Gospel,
19 e por mim; para que me seja dada, no abrir da minha boca, a palavra com confiança, para fazer notório o mistério do evangelho,
20 Whereof I am the ambassadour in bonds, that therein I may speake boldely, as I ought to speake.
20 pelo qual sou embaixador em cadeias; para que possa falar dele livremente, como me convém falar.
21 But that ye may also know mine affaires, and what I doe, Tychicus my deare brother and faithfull minister in the Lord, shall shewe you of all things,
21 Ora, para que vós também possais saber dos meus negócios e o que eu faço, Tíquico, irmão amado e fiel ministro do Senhor, vos informará de tudo,
22 Whom I haue sent vnto you for the same purpose, that ye might knowe mine affaires, and that he might comfort your hearts.
22 o qual vos enviei para o mesmo fim, para que saibais do nosso estado, e ele console os vossos corações.
23 Peace be with the brethren, and loue with faith from God the Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.
23 Paz seja com os irmãos e amor com fé, da parte de Deus Pai e da do Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24 Grace be with all them which loue our Lord Iesus Christ, to their immortalitie, Amen. ‘Written from Rome vnto the Ephesians, and sent by Tychicus.’
24 A graça seja com todos os que amam a nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo em sinceridade. Amém!
