1 Then Haggai a Prophet and Zechariah the sonne of Iddo a Prophet prophecied vnto the Iewes that were in Iudah, and Ierusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, euen vnto them.
1 E os profetas Ageu e Zacarias, filho de Ido, profetizaram aos judeus que estavam em Judá, e em Jerusalém; em nome do Deus de Israel lhes profetizaram.
2 Then Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Ieshua the sonne of Iozadak arose, and began to builde the house of God at Ierusalem, and with them were the Prophetes of God, which helped them.
2 Então se levantaram Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, e Jesuá, filho de Jozadaque, e começaram a edificar a casa de Deus, que está em Jerusalém; e com eles os profetas de Deus, que os ajudavam.
3 At the same time came to them Tatnai, which was captaine beyonde the Riuer, and Shether-boznai and their companions, and sayd thus vnto them, Who hath giuen you commandement to buylde this house, and to lay the foundations of these walles?
3 Naquele tempo vieram a eles Tatenai, governador dalém do rio, e Setar-Bozenai, e os seus companheiros, e disseram-lhes assim: Quem vos deu ordem para reedificardes esta casa, e restaurardes este muro?
4 Then sayde we vnto them after this maner, What are the names of the men that buylde this buylding?
4 Disseram-lhes, mais: E quais são os nomes dos homens que construíram este edifício?
5 But the eye of their God was vpon the Elders of the Iewes, that they coulde not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they answered by letters thereunto.
5 Porém os olhos de Deus estavam sobre os anciãos dos judeus, e não os impediram, até que o negócio chegasse a Dario, e viesse resposta por carta sobre isso.
6 The copie of the letter, that Tatnai captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shether-boznai and his companions, Apharsechaie, (which were beyond the Riuer) sent vnto King Darius.
6 Cópia da carta que Tatenai, o governador dalém do rio, com Setar-Bozenai e os seus companheiros, os afarsaquitas, que estavam dalém do rio, enviaram ao rei Dario.
7 They sent a letter vnto him, wherein it was written thus, VNTO DARIVS the king, all peace.
7 Enviaram-lhe uma carta, na qual estava escrito: Toda a paz ao rei Dario.
8 Be it knowen vnto the King, that we went into the prouince of Iudea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and beames are layde in the walles, and this worke is wrought speedily, and prospereth in their hands.
8 Seja notório ao rei, que nós fomos à província de Judá, à casa do grande Deus, a qual se edifica com grandes pedras, e a madeira já está sendo posta nas paredes; e esta obra vai sendo feita com diligência, e se adianta em suas mãos.
9 Then asked we those Elders, and sayd vnto them thus, Who hath giuen you commandement to buylde this house, and to lay the foundation of these walles?
9 Então perguntamos aos anciãos, e assim lhes dissemos: Quem vos deu ordem para reedificardes esta casa, e restaurardes este muro?
10 We asked their names also, that we might certifie thee, and that we might write the names of the men that were their rulers.
10 Além disso, lhes perguntamos também pelos seus nomes, para tos declararmos; para que te pudéssemos escrever os nomes dos homens que entre eles são os chefes.
11 But they answered vs thus, and sayd, We are the seruants of the God of heauen and earth, and buylde the house that was buylt of olde and many yeeres ago, which a great King of Israel builded, and founded it.
11 E esta foi a resposta que nos deram: Nós somos servos do Deus dos céus e da terra, e reedificamos a casa que há muitos anos foi edificada; porque um grande rei de Israel a edificou e a terminou.
12 But after that our fathers had prouoked the God of heauen vnto wrath, he gaue them ouer into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar King of Babel the Caldean, and he destroyed this house, and caryed the people away captiue vnto Babel.
12 Mas depois que nossos pais provocaram à ira o Deus dos céus, ele os entregou nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei de babilônia, o caldeu, o qual destruiu esta casa, e transportou o povo para babilônia.
13 But in the first yere of Cyrus King of Babel, King Cyrus made a decree to buylde this house of God.
13 Porém, no primeiro ano de Ciro, rei de babilônia, o rei Ciro deu ordem para que esta casa de Deus se reedificasse.
14 And the vessels of golde and siluer of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar tooke out of the Temple, that was in Ierusalem, and brought them into the Temple of Babel, those did Cyrus the king take out of the Temple of Babel, and they gaue them vnto one Sheshbazzar by his name, whome he had made captaine.
14 E até os utensílios de ouro e prata, da casa de Deus, que Nabucodonosor tomou do templo que estava em Jerusalém e os levou para o templo de babilônia, o rei Ciro os tirou do templo de babilônia, e foram dados a um homem cujo nome era Sesbazar, a quem nomeou governador.
15 And he sayde vnto him, Take these vessels and goe thy way, and put them in the Temple that is in Ierusalem, and let the house of God be buylt in his place.
15 E disse-lhe: Toma estes utensílios, vai e leva-os ao templo que está em Jerusalém, e faze reedificar a casa de Deus, no seu lugar.
16 Then came the same Sheshbazzar and layde the foundation of the house of God, which is in Ierusalem, and since that time euen vntill nowe, hath it bene in buylding, yet is it not finished.
16 Então veio este Sesbazar, e pôs os fundamentos da casa de Deus, que está em Jerusalém, e desde então para cá se está reedificando, e ainda não está acabada.
17 Nowe therefore if it please the King, let there be searche made in the house of the Kings treasures, which is there in Babel, whether a decree hath bene made by King Cyrus, to build this house of God in Ierusalem, and let the King send his minde concerning this.
17 Agora, pois, se parece bem ao rei, busque-se na casa dos tesouros do rei, que está em babilônia, se é verdade que se deu uma ordem pelo rei Ciro para reedificar esta casa de Deus em Jerusalém; e sobre isto nos faça saber a vontade do rei.
