1 Ye shall keepe all the commandements which I command thee this day, for to doe them: that ye may liue, and be multiplied, and goe in, and possesse the land which the Lord sware vnto your fathers.
1 — Tenham o cuidado de cumprir todos os mandamentos que hoje lhes ordeno, para que vocês vivam, se multipliquem, entrem e tomem posse da terra que o Senhor prometeu sob juramento aos pais de vocês.
2 And thou shalt remember all ye way which the Lord thy God led thee this fourtie yeere in the wildernesse, for to humble thee and to proue thee, to knowe what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keepe his commandements or no.
2 Lembrem-se de todo o caminho pelo qual o Senhor , seu Deus, os guiou no deserto durante estes quarenta anos, para humilhar vocês, para pôr vocês à prova, para saber o que estava no coração de vocês, se guardariam ou não os seus mandamentos.
3 Therefore he humbled thee, and made thee hungry, and fed thee with MAN, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know it, that he might teache thee that man liueth not by bread onely, but by euery worde that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord, doth a man liue.
3 Ele humilhou vocês, ele os deixou passar fome, ele os sustentou com o maná, que vocês não conheciam e que nem os pais de vocês conheciam, para que vocês compreendessem que o ser humano não viverá só de pão, mas de tudo o que procede da boca do Senhor .
4 Thy raiment waxed not olde vpon thee, neither did thy foote swell those fourtie yeeres.
4 Durante estes quarenta anos, as roupas que vocês usavam não envelheceram, e os seus pés não ficaram inchados.
5 Knowe therefore in thine heart, that as a man nourtereth his sonne, so the Lord thy God nourtereth thee.
5 Portanto, saibam em seu coração que, assim como um homem disciplina o seu filho, assim o Senhor , seu Deus, disciplina vocês.
6 Therefore shalt thou keepe the commandements of the Lord thy God, that thou mayest walke in his wayes, and feare him.
6 Guardem os mandamentos do Senhor , seu Deus, para que vocês andem nos seus caminhos e o temam.
7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land in the which are riuers of water and fountaines, and depthes that spring out of valleis and mountaines:
7 Porque o Senhor , o Deus de vocês, os faz entrar numa terra boa, terra de ribeiros de águas, de fontes, de mananciais profundos, que saem dos vales e das montanhas;
8 A land of wheate and barley, and of vineyards, and figtrees, and pomegranates: a land of oyle oliue and hony:
8 terra de trigo e cevada, de vinhas, figueiras e romãzeiras; terra de oliveiras, de azeite e mel;
9 A land wherein thou shalt eate bread without scarcitie, neither shalt thou lacke any thing therein: a land whose stones are yron, and out of whose mountaines thou shalt digge brasse.
9 terra em que vocês não terão escassez e em que não lhes faltará nada; terra cujas pedras são ferro e de cujos montes vocês extrairão o cobre.
10 And when thou hast eaten and filled thy selfe, thou shalt blesse the Lord thy God for the good land, which he hath giuen thee.
10 Vocês comerão e ficarão satisfeitos, e louvarão o Senhor , seu Deus, pela boa terra que lhes deu.
11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, not keeping his commandements, and his lawes, and his ordinances, which I commaund thee this day:
11 — Tenham o cuidado de não se esquecer do Senhor , seu Deus, deixando de cumprir os seus mandamentos, os seus juízos e os seus estatutos, que hoje lhes ordeno.
12 Lest when thou hast eaten and filled thy selfe, and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein,
12 Não aconteça que, depois de terem comido e estarem fartos, depois de haverem edificado boas casas e morado nelas;
13 And thy beastes, and thy sheepe are increased, and thy siluer and golde is multiplied, and all that thou hast is increased,
13 depois de se multiplicarem o seu gado e os seus rebanhos, e aumentar a sua prata e o seu ouro, e ser abundante tudo o que vocês têm,
14 Then thine heart be lifted vp and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage,
14 se eleve o seu coração e vocês se esqueçam do Senhor , seu Deus, que os tirou da terra do Egito, da casa da servidão,
15 Who was thy guide in the great and terrible wildernes (wherein were fierie serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where was no water, who brought forth water for thee out of ye rock of flint:
15 que os conduziu por aquele grande e terrível deserto de serpentes abrasadoras, de escorpiões e de aridez, onde não havia água; e que fez sair água da rocha para vocês beberem;
16 Who fed thee in the wildernesse with MAN, which thy fathers knewe not) to humble thee, and and to proue thee, that he might doe thee good at thy latter ende.
16 que no deserto os sustentou com maná, que os pais de vocês não conheciam; para humilhar vocês, para pôr vocês à prova e, afinal, lhes fazer bem.
17 Beware least thou say in thine heart, My power, and the strength of mine owne hand hath prepared me this abundance.
17 — Portanto, não pensem: “A minha força e o poder do meu braço me conseguiram estas riquezas.”
18 But remember the Lord thy God: for it is he which giueth thee power to get substance to establish his couenant which he sware vnto thy fathers, as appeareth this day.
18 Pelo contrário, lembrem-se do Senhor , seu Deus, porque é ele quem lhes dá força para conseguir riquezas; para confirmar a sua aliança, que, sob juramento, prometeu aos pais de vocês, como hoje se vê.
19 And if thou forget the Lord thy God, and walke after other gods, and serue them, and worship them, I testifie vnto you this day that ye shall surely perish.
19 Se vocês se esquecerem do Senhor , seu Deus, e seguirem outros deuses, os servirem e os adorarem, eu lhes asseguro hoje que vocês certamente serão destruídos.
20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before you, so ye shall perish, because ye woulde not be obedient vnto the voyce of the Lord your God.
20 Como as nações que o Senhor destruiu diante de vocês, assim vocês também perecerão, porque não quiseram obedecer à voz do Senhor , seu Deus.
