1 Ye are the children of the Lord your God. Ye shall not cut yourselues, nor make you any baldnesse betweene your eyes for the dead.
1 Moisés disse ao povo: — Vocês são filhos do
2 For thou art an holy people vnto ye Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a precious people vnto himselfe, aboue all the people that are vpon the earth.
2 Pois vocês são o povo escolhido pelo Senhor , nosso Deus; entre todos os povos da terra ele os escolheu para serem somente dele.
3 Thou shalt eate no maner of abomination.
3 — Não comam nada que seja impuro .
4 These are the beastes, which ye shall eate, the beefe, the sheepe, and the goate,
4 Vocês podem comer a carne dos seguintes animais: vacas, carneiros, cabritos,
5 The hart, and the roe buck, and the bugle, and the wilde goate, and the vnicorne, and the wilde oxe, and the chamois.
5 veados, gazelas , corços , cabritos selvagens, antílopes, carneiros selvagens e gamos.
6 And euery beast that parteth ye hoofe, and cleaueth the clift into two clawes, and is of the beasts that cheweth the cudde, that shall ye eate.
6 Todos esses animais têm o casco dividido em dois, e ruminam, e podem ser comidos.
7 But these ye shall not eate, of them that chew the cud, and of them that deuide and cleaue the hoofe onely: ye camell, nor the hare, nor the cony: for they chewe the cudde, but deuide not ye hoofe: therefore they shall be vncleane vnto you:
7 Mas nenhum animal deve ser comido, a não ser que tenha o casco dividido e que rumine. Portanto, não comam camelos, lebres ou coelhos selvagens, pois ruminam, mas não têm o casco dividido. Para vocês esses animais são impuros.
8 Also the swine, because he deuideth the hoofe, and cheweth not the cud, shalbe vncleane vnto you: ye shall not eate of their flesh, nor touch their dead carkeises.
8 Não comam carne de porco. Para vocês os porcos são impuros porque têm o casco dividido, mas não ruminam. Não comam nenhum desses animais, nem toquem neles quando estiverem mortos.
9 These ye shall eate, of all that are in the waters: all that haue finnes and scales shall ye eate.
9 — Vocês podem comer qualquer peixe que tenha barbatanas e escamas,
10 And whatsoeuer hath no finnes nor scales, ye shall not eate: it shall be vncleane vnto you.
10 mas não podem comer peixes que não tenham barbatanas nem escamas. Para vocês esses peixes são impuros.
11 Of all cleane birdes ye shall eate:
11 — Vocês podem comer qualquer ave pura ,
12 But these are they, whereof ye shall not eate: the eagle, nor the goshawke, nor the osprey,
12 porém não comam as seguintes aves : águias, urubus, águias marinhas,
13 Nor the glead nor the kite, nor the vulture, after their kind,
13 açores, falcões,
14 Nor all kinde of rauens,
14 corvos,
15 Nor the ostrich, nor the nightcrow, nor the semeaw, nor the hawke after her kinde,
15 avestruzes, corujas, gaivotas, gaviões,
16 Neither the litle owle, nor the great owle, nor the redshanke,
16 mochos, íbis, gralhas,
17 Nor the pellicane, nor the swanne, nor the cormorant:
17 pelicanos, abutres, corvos marinhos,
18 The storke also, and the heron in his kinde, nor the lapwing, nor the backe.
18 cegonhas, garças e poupas; e também morcegos.
19 And euery creeping thing that flieth, shall be vncleane vnto you: it shall not be eaten.
19 — Todos os insetos que voam são impuros; vocês não podem comê-los.
20 But of all cleane foules ye may eate.
20 Mas podem comer todos os insetos puros.
21 Ye shall eate of nothing that dieth alone, but thou shalt giue it vnto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eate it: or thou maiest sell it vnto a stranger: for thou art an holy people vnto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mothers milke.
21 — Não comam qualquer animal que tenha tido morte natural. Vocês podem dar o animal aos estrangeiros que moram nas cidades de vocês ou podem vendê-lo a outros estrangeiros. Mas vocês não o podem comer, pois são o povo escolhido pelo Senhor , nosso Deus. — Não cozinhem um cabrito ou um carneirinho no leite da sua própria mãe .
22 Thou shalt giue the tithe of all the increase of thy seede, that commeth foorth of the fielde yeere by yeere.
22 — Todos os anos juntem uma décima parte de todas as colheitas
23 And thou shalt eate before the Lord thy God (in the place which he shall chose to cause his Name to dwell there) the tithe of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oyle, and the first borne of thy kine and of thy sheepe, that thou maiest learne to feare the Lord thy God alway.
23 e levem até o lugar que o Senhor , nosso Deus, tiver escolhido para nele ser adorado. Ali, na presença do Senhor , nosso Deus, comam aquela décima parte dos cereais, do vinho e do azeite e também a primeira cria das vacas e das ovelhas. Façam isso para aprender a temer a Deus para sempre.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to cary it, because the place is farre from thee, where the Lord thy God shall chose to set his Name, when the Lord thy God shall blesse thee,
24 Mas, se o lugar de adoração ficar muito longe, e for impossível levar até lá a décima parte das colheitas com que Deus os abençoou,
25 Then shalt thou make it in money, and take the money in thine hand, and goe vnto the place which the Lord thy God shall chose.
25 então façam isto: vendam aquela parte das colheitas, levem o dinheiro até o lugar de adoração que o Senhor tiver escolhido
26 And thou shalt bestowe the money for whatsoeuer thine heart desireth: whether it be oxe, or sheepe, or wine, or strong drinke, or whatsoeuer thine heart desireth: and shalt eate it there before the Lord thy God, and reioyce, both thou, and thine household.
26 e ali comprem tudo o que quiserem comer: carne de vaca ou de carneiro, vinho, cerveja ou qualquer outra coisa que desejarem. E ali, na presença do Senhor , nosso Deus, vocês e as suas famílias comam essas coisas e se divirtam à vontade.
27 And the Leuite that is within thy gates, shalt thou not forsake: for he hath neither part nor inheritance with thee.
27 — Porém não esqueçam os levitas que moram nas cidades de vocês. Eles não receberão terras em Canaã, como as outras tribos .
28 At the end of three yeere thou shalt bring foorth all the tithes of thine increase of the same yeere, and lay it vp within thy gates.
28 De três em três anos juntem a décima parte das colheitas daquele ano e guardem nas cidades onde vocês moram.
29 Then ye Leuite shall come, because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherlesse, and the widowe, which are within thy gates, and shall eate, and be filled, that the Lord thy God may blesse thee in al the worke of thine hand which thou doest.
29 Essa comida é para os levitas, pois eles não têm terras próprias; é também para os estrangeiros, os órfãos e as viúvas que moram nas cidades de vocês. Assim todos eles terão toda a comida que precisarem. Façam isso para que o Senhor , nosso Deus, abençoe todo o trabalho de vocês.
