1 In the second yeere of King Darius, in the sixt moneth, the first day of the moneth, came ye worde of the Lord (by the ministery of the Prophet Haggai) vnto Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, a prince of Iudah, and to Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, saying,
1 No segundo ano do reinado de Dario, rei da Pérsia, no primeiro dia do sexto mês, o Senhor Deus mandou uma mensagem por meio do profeta Ageu. Essa mensagem era para o governador de Judá, Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, e para o Grande Sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque.
2 Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, This people say, The time is not yet come, that the Lords House should be builded.
2 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso disse o seguinte: — O povo está dizendo que ainda não chegou o tempo de reconstruir o Templo.
3 Then came the worde of the Lord by the ministerie of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
3 Por isso, o Senhor falou assim por meio do profeta Ageu:
4 Is it time for your selues to dwell in your sieled houses, and this House lie waste?
4 — Povo de Judá, será que fica bem vocês viverem em casas luxuosas enquanto o meu Templo continua destruído?
5 Now therefore thus saith ye Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
5 Pensem bem no que tem acontecido com vocês.
6 Ye haue sowen much, and bring in litle: ye eate, but ye haue not ynough: ye drinke, but ye are not filled: ye clothe you, but ye be not warme: and he that earneth wages, putteth the wages into a broken bagge.
6 Vocês semearam muitas sementes, mas colheram pouco; têm comida, mas não é suficiente para matar a fome; têm vinho, mas não dá para ficarem bêbados; têm roupas, porém elas não chegam para os proteger do frio; e o salário que o trabalhador recebe não dá para viver.
7 Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
7 Por isso o Senhor Todo-Poderoso diz: — Pensem bem no que tem acontecido com vocês.
8 Goe vp to the mountaine, and bring wood, and build this House, and I wil be fauourable in it, and I will be glorified, sayth the Lord.
8 Agora, vão até as montanhas, tragam madeira e construam de novo o Templo. Eu ficarei muito contente com esse Templo e ali serei adorado e honrado.
9 Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to litle: and when ye brought it home, I did blowe vpon it. And why, sayth the Lord of hostes? Because of mine House that is waste, and ye runne euery man vnto his owne house.
9 — Vocês esperavam colheitas grandes, porém elas foram pequenas. E, quando estavam levando para casa o pouco que colheram, eu soprei tudo para longe. E por que foi que eu, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, fiz isso? Foi porque vocês só vivem cuidando das suas próprias casas, mas não se importam com a minha Casa, que está destruída.
10 Therefore the heauen ouer you stayed it selfe from dewe, and the earth stayed her fruite.
10 É por isso que não chove e os campos não produzem colheitas.
11 And I called for a drought vpon the land, and vpon the mountaines, and vpon the corne, and vpon the wine, and vpon the oyle, vpon all that the ground bringeth foorth: both vpon men and vpon cattell, and vpon all the labour of the hands.
11 Eu fiz com que houvesse seca nos campos e nas montanhas; fiz com que a seca atingisse as plantações de cereais, as parreiras , as oliveiras e todas as outras plantações do país. Ela castigou as pessoas, os animais e todas as plantações.
12 When Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest with all the remnant of the people, heard the voyce of the Lord their God, and the wordes of the Prophet Haggai (as the Lord their God had sent him) then the people did feare before the Lord.
12 Então Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, e o Grande Sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque, e todos os que haviam voltado do cativeiro na Babilônia temeram a Deus e obedeceram à mensagem que o Senhor , o Deus deles, tinha mandado por meio do profeta Ageu.
13 Then spake Haggai the Lords messenger in the Lords message vnto the people, saying, I am with you, sayth the Lord.
13 E assim Ageu, o mensageiro de Deus, falou e entregou ao povo de Judá a seguinte mensagem: — Eu estarei com vocês. Eu, o
14 And the Lord stirred vp the spirite of Zerubbabel, the sonne of Shealtiel a prince of Iudah, and the spirit of Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came, and did the worke in the House of the Lord of hostes their God.
14 O Senhor deu coragem e ânimo ao governador de Judá, Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, ao Grande Sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque, e a todos os que haviam voltado do cativeiro na Babilônia. Eles foram e começaram a trabalhar no Templo do seu Deus, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso,

15 no dia vinte e quatro do sexto mês do segundo ano do reinado de Dario.
