1 I charge thee therefore before God, and before the Lord Iesus Christ, which shall iudge the quicke and dead at that his appearing, and in his kingdome,
1 Eu te conjuro em presença de Deus e de Jesus Cristo, que há de julgar os vivos e os mortos, por sua aparição e por seu Reino:
2 Preach the worde: be instant, in season and out of season: improue, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
2 prega a palavra, insiste oportuna e importunamente, repreende, ameaça, exorta com toda paciência e empenho de instruir.
3 For the time will come, when they will not suffer wholesome doctrine: but hauing their eares itching, shall after their owne lustes get them an heape of teachers,
3 Porque virá tempo em que os homens já não suportarão a sã doutrina da salvação. Levados pelas próprias paixões e pelo prurido de escutar novidades, ajustarão mestres para si.
4 And shall turne their eares from the trueth, and shalbe giuen vnto fables.
4 Apartarão os ouvidos da verdade e se atirarão às fábulas.
5 But watch thou in all thinges: suffer aduersitie: doe the worke of an Euangelist: cause thy ministerie to be throughly liked of.
5 Tu, porém, sê prudente em tudo, paciente nos sofrimentos, cumpre a missão de pregador do Evangelho, consagra-te ao teu ministério.
6 For I am nowe readie to be offered, and the time of my departing is at hand.
6 Quanto a mim, estou a ponto de ser imolado e o instante da minha libertação se aproxima.
7 I haue fought a good fight, and haue finished my course: I haue kept the faith.
7 Combati o bom combate, terminei a minha carreira, guardei a fé.
8 For hence foorth is laide vp for me the crowne of righteousnesse, which the Lord the righteous iudge shall giue me at that day: and not to me onely, but vnto all them also that loue that his appearing.
8 Resta-me agora receber a coroa da justiça, que o Senhor, justo Juiz, me dará naquele dia, e não somente a mim, mas a todos aqueles que aguardam com amor a sua aparição.
9 Make speede to come vnto me at once:
9 Procura vir ter comigo quanto antes.
10 For Demas hath forsaken me, and hath embraced this present world, and is departed vnto Thessalonica. Crescens is gone to Galatia, Titus vnto Dalmatia.
10 Demas me abandonou, por amor das coisas do século presente, e se foi para Tessalônica. Crescente, para a Galácia; Tito, para a Dalmácia.
11 Onely Luke is with me. Take Marke and bring him with thee: for he is profitable vnto me to minister.
11 Só Lucas está comigo. Toma contigo Marcos e traze-o, porque me é bem útil para o ministério.
12 And Tychicus haue I sent to Ephesus.
12 Tíquico enviei-o para Éfeso.
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou commest, bring with thee, and the bookes, but specially the parchments.
13 Quando vieres, traze contigo a capa que deixei em Trôade na casa de Carpo, e também os livros, principalmente os pergaminhos.
14 Alexander the coppersmith hath done me much euill: the Lord rewarde him according to his workes.
14 Alexandre, o ferreiro, me tratou muito mal. O Senhor há de lhe pagar pela sua conduta.
15 Of whome be thou ware also: for he withstoode our preaching sore.
15 Tu também guarda-te dele, porque fez oposição cerrada à nossa pregação.
16 At my first answering no man assisted me, but all forsooke me: I pray God, that it may not be laide to their charge.
16 Em minha primeira defesa não houve quem me assistisse; todos me desampararam! {Que isto não seja imputado.}
17 Notwithstanding the Lord assisted me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully beleeued, and that al the Gentiles should heare: and I was deliuered out of the mouth of the lion.
17 Contudo, o Senhor me assistiu e me deu forças, para que, por meu intermédio, a boa mensagem fosse plenamente anunciada e chegasse aos ouvidos de todos os pagãos. E fui salvo das fauces do leão.
18 And the Lord will deliuer me from euery euil worke, and will preserue me vnto his heauenly kingdome: to whome be praise for euer and euer, Amen.
18 O Senhor me salvará de todo mal e me preservará para o seu Reino celestial. A ele a glória por toda a eternidade! Amém.
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the householde of Onesiphorus.
19 Saúda Prisca e Áquila, e a família de Onesíforo.
20 Erastus abode at Corinthus: Trophimus I left at Miletum sicke.
20 Erasto ficou em Corinto. Deixei Trófimo doente em Mileto.
21 Make speede to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
21 Apressa-te a vir antes do inverno. Saúdam-te Eubulo, Pudente, Lino, Cláudia e todos os irmãos.
22 The Lord Iesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you, Amen. ‘The second Epistle written from Rome vnto Timotheus, the first Bishop elected of the Church of Ephesus, when Paul was presented the second time before the Emperour Nero.’
