1 Then there was come thither a wicked man (named Sheba the sonne of Bichri, a man of Iemini) and hee blew the trumpet, and saide, Wee haue no part in Dauid, neither haue we inheritance in the sonne of Ishai: euery man to his tents, O Israel.
1 Aconteceu que estava ali um homem perverso, cujo nome era Seba, filho de Bicri, homem de Benjamim. Ele tocou a trombeta e disse: — Não temos parte em Davi, nem herança no filho de Jessé. Cada um para as suas tendas, ó Israel.
2 So euery man of Israel went from Dauid and followed Sheba the sonne of Bichri: but the men of Iudah claue fast vnto their King, from Iorden euen to Ierusalem.
2 Então todos os homens de Israel se separaram de Davi e seguiram Seba, filho de Bicri. Mas os homens de Judá se apegaram ao seu rei, conduzindo-o desde o Jordão até Jerusalém.
3 When Dauid then came to his house to Ierusalem, the King tooke the ten women his concubines, that hee had left behinde him to keepe the house, and put them in warde, and fed them, but lay no more with them: but they were enclosed vnto the day of their death, liuing in widowhode.
3 E Davi foi para o seu palácio em Jerusalém. O rei tomou as dez concubinas, que tinha deixado para cuidar do palácio, e as pôs em custódia, e as sustentou, porém não teve relações com elas. Elas ficaram enclausuradas até o dia em que morreram, vivendo como viúvas.
4 Then sayde the King to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Iudah within three dayes, and be thou here present.
4 O rei disse a Amasa: — Convoque, para dentro de três dias, os homens de Judá e apresente-se aqui.
5 So Amasa went to assemble Iudah, but hee taried longer then the time which he had appoynted him.
5 Amasa saiu para convocar os homens de Judá, mas demorou-se além do tempo que lhe havia sido dado.
6 Then Dauid sayd to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the sonne of Bichri doe vs more harme then did Absalom: take thou therefore thy lords seruants and follow after him, lest he get him walled cities, and escape vs.
6 Então Davi disse a Abisai: — Agora Seba, o filho de Bicri, nos fará mais mal do que Absalão. Por isso, pegue os servos do seu senhor e vá atrás dele, para que não ache para si cidades fortificadas e nos escape.
7 And there went out after him Ioabs men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mightie men: and they departed out of Ierusalem, to follow after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
7 Então saíram com ele os soldados de Joabe, a guarda real e todos os valentes. Saíram de Jerusalém para perseguir Seba, filho de Bicri.
8 When they were at the great stone, which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them, and Ioabs garment, that hee had put on, was girded vnto him, and vpon it was a sword girded, which hanged on his loynes in the sheath, and as hee went, it vsed to fall out.
8 Quando chegaram à pedra grande que está em Gibeão, Amasa veio ao encontro deles. Joabe usava trajes militares e sobre eles um cinto, no qual, presa aos seus lombos, estava uma espada dentro da bainha. Quando Joabe se adiantou, sua espada caiu.
9 And Ioab sayde to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? and Ioab tooke Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kisse him.
9 Então Joabe disse a Amasa: — Você vai bem, meu irmão? E, com a mão direita, pegou na barba de Amasa, para o beijar.
10 But Amasa tooke no heede to the sworde that was in Ioabs hande: for therewith he smote him in the fift rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and smote him not the second time: so he dyed. then Ioab and Abishai his brother followed after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
10 Amasa não reparou na espada que estava na mão de Joabe. Assim, este o feriu com ela na barriga e lhe derramou por terra os intestinos. Amasa morreu, sem que fosse preciso dar um segundo golpe. Então Joabe e o seu irmão Abisai perseguiram Seba, filho de Bicri.
11 And one of Ioabs men stoode by him, and saide, He that fauoureth Ioab, and hee that is of Dauids part, let him go after Ioab.
11 Mas um dos moços de Joabe parou junto do corpo de Amasa e disse: — Quem está do lado de Joabe e é por Davi, siga Joabe!
12 And Amasa wallowed in blood in the mids of the way: and when the man sawe that all the people stood still, he remooued Amasa out of the way into the fielde, and cast a cloth vpon him, because he saw that euery one that came by him, stoode still.
12 Amasa estava envolto no seu sangue no meio do caminho. Quando o moço viu que todo o povo parava, arrastou Amasa do caminho para o campo e lançou um manto sobre ele. Porque ele via que todo aquele que chegava perto dele parava.
13 When hee was remoued out of the way, euerie man went after Ioab, to follow after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
13 Depois que o corpo foi afastado do caminho, todos os homens seguiram Joabe, para perseguirem Seba, filho de Bicri.
14 And he went through all the tribes of Israel vnto Abel, and Bethmaachah and all places of Berim: and they gathered together, and went also after him.
14 Seba passou por todas as tribos de Israel até Abel-Bete-Maaca, e apenas os beritas se ajuntaram todos e o seguiram.
15 So they came, and besieged him in Abel, neere to Bethmaachah: and they cast vp a mount against the citie, and the people thereof stood on the ramper, and al the people that was with Ioab, destroyed and cast downe the wall.
15 Joabe e os seus homens vieram e o cercaram em Abel-Bete-Maaca. E levantaram contra a cidade um montão da altura da muralha. E todo o povo que estava com Joabe batia na muralha para a derrubar.
16 Then cried a wise woman out of the citie, Heare, heare, I pray you, say vnto Ioab, Come thou hither, that I may speake with thee.
16 Então uma mulher sábia gritou de dentro da cidade: — Escutem! Escutem! Digam a Joabe que venha cá, para que eu fale com ele.
17 And when hee came neere vnto her, the woman said, Art thou Ioab? And he answered, Yea. And she said to him, Heare the wordes of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do heare.
17 Quando ele chegou perto, a mulher perguntou: — Você é Joabe? Ele respondeu: — Eu sou. Ela lhe disse: — Ouça as palavras desta sua serva. Joabe respondeu: — Estou ouvindo.
18 Then shee spake thus, They spake in the olde time, saying, They shoulde aske of Abel. and so haue they continued.
18 Então ela disse: — Antigamente se costumava dizer: “Peçam conselho na cidade de Abel”; e assim as questões eram resolvidas.
19 I am one of them, that are peaceable and faithful in Israel: and thou goest about to destroy a citie, and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou deuoure the inheritance of the Lord?
19 Eu sou uma das pacíficas e das fiéis em Israel, e você procura destruir uma cidade que é mãe em Israel. Por que você quer devorar a herança do Senhor ?
20 And Ioab answered, and said, God forbid, God forbid it me, that I should deuoure, or destroy it.
20 Então Joabe respondeu: — Longe, longe de mim que eu devore e destrua!
21 The matter is not so, but a man of mout Ephraim (Sheba ye sonne of Bichri by name) hath lift vp his had against ye King, euen against Dauid: deliuer vs him onely, and I will depart from the citie. And the woman saide vnto Ioab, Beholde, his head shalbe throwen to thee ouer the wall.
21 A coisa não é assim. Porém um homem da região montanhosa de Efraim, chamado Seba, filho de Bicri, levantou a mão contra o rei, contra Davi. Entreguem-me só este, e eu vou me retirar da cidade. Então a mulher disse a Joabe: — Eis que a cabeça dele será jogada por cima da muralha para você.
22 Then the woman went vnto all the people with her wisedome, and they cut off the head of Sheba the sonne of Bichri, and cast it to Ioab: the he blewe the trumpet, and they retired from the citie, euery man to his tent: and Ioab returned to Ierusalem vnto the King.
22 Então a mulher, na sua sabedoria, foi falar com todo o povo. E cortaram a cabeça de Seba, filho de Bicri, e a jogaram para Joabe. Então Joabe tocou a trombeta, e eles se retiraram da cidade, cada um para a sua casa. E Joabe voltou a Jerusalém, para junto do rei.
23 Then Ioab was ouer all the hoste of Israel, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada ouer the Cherethites and ouer the Pelethies,
23 Joabe era comandante de todo o exército de Israel. Benaia, filho de Joiada, era comandante da guarda real.
24 And Adoram ouer the tribute, and Ioshaphat the sonne of Ahilud the recorder,
24 Adorão era chefe dos que estavam sujeitos a trabalhos forçados. Josafá, filho de Ailude, era o cronista.
25 And Sheia was Scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar the Priests,
25 Seva era o escrivão. Zadoque e Abiatar eram os sacerdotes.
26 And also Ira the Iairite was chiefe about Dauid.
26 E também Ira, o jairita, era ministro de Davi.
