1 Then there was come thither a wicked man (named Sheba the sonne of Bichri, a man of Iemini) and hee blew the trumpet, and saide, Wee haue no part in Dauid, neither haue we inheritance in the sonne of Ishai: euery man to his tents, O Israel.
1 E ocorreu de haver ali um homem de Belial, cujo nome era Seba, o filho de Bicri, um benjamita; e ele soprou uma trombeta, e disse: Não temos parte alguma em Davi, tampouco temos herança no filho de Jessé: cada homem para a sua tenda, ó Israel.
2 So euery man of Israel went from Dauid and followed Sheba the sonne of Bichri: but the men of Iudah claue fast vnto their King, from Iorden euen to Ierusalem.
2 Assim, todos os homens de Israel deixaram de seguir Davi, e seguiram Seba, o filho de Bicri; porém, os homens de Judá se apegaram ao seu rei, desde o Jordão até Jerusalém.
3 When Dauid then came to his house to Ierusalem, the King tooke the ten women his concubines, that hee had left behinde him to keepe the house, and put them in warde, and fed them, but lay no more with them: but they were enclosed vnto the day of their death, liuing in widowhode.
3 E Davi chegou à sua casa em Jerusalém; e o rei tomou as dez mulheres, as suas concubinas, as quais ele havia deixado para cuidar da casa, e as pôs sob guarda, e as alimentou, mas não entrou a elas. Assim, elas ficaram trancadas até o dia da sua morte, vivendo em viuvez.
4 Then sayde the King to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Iudah within three dayes, and be thou here present.
4 Então, o rei disse a Amasa: Reúne-me os homens de Judá dentro de três dias, e estejas tu aqui presente.
5 So Amasa went to assemble Iudah, but hee taried longer then the time which he had appoynted him.
5 Assim, Amasa foi reunir os homens de Judá; porém, ele tardou além da hora marcada que ele lhe havia indicado.
6 Then Dauid sayd to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the sonne of Bichri doe vs more harme then did Absalom: take thou therefore thy lords seruants and follow after him, lest he get him walled cities, and escape vs.
6 E Davi disse a Abisai: Agora Seba, o filho de Bicri, far-nos-á mais mal do que nos fez Absalão; toma tu os servos do teu senhor e persegue-o, para que ele não conquiste para si cidades fortificadas e escape de nós.
7 And there went out after him Ioabs men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mightie men: and they departed out of Ierusalem, to follow after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
7 E ali saíram atrás dele os homens de Joabe, e os quereteus, e os peleteus, e todos os valentes; e eles saíram de Jerusalém, para perseguir Seba, o filho de Bicri.
8 When they were at the great stone, which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them, and Ioabs garment, that hee had put on, was girded vnto him, and vpon it was a sword girded, which hanged on his loynes in the sheath, and as hee went, it vsed to fall out.
8 Quando eles estavam junto à pedra grande que fica em Gibeão, Amasa foi adiante deles. E as vestes de Joabe, que ele havia posto, estavam nele cingidas; e sobre ela um cinto com uma espada presa sobre o seu lombo, na sua bainha, e enquanto ele avançava, ela caiu.
9 And Ioab sayde to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? and Ioab tooke Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kisse him.
9 E Joabe disse a Amasa: Estás tu com saúde, meu irmão? E Joabe pegou Amasa pela barba com a mão direita para beijá-lo.
10 But Amasa tooke no heede to the sworde that was in Ioabs hande: for therewith he smote him in the fift rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and smote him not the second time: so he dyed. then Ioab and Abishai his brother followed after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
10 Porém, Amasa não prestou atenção à espada que estava na mão de Joabe; assim ele o feriu com ela na quinta costela, e derramou as suas entranhas no chão, e não voltou a atingi-lo; e ele morreu. Assim, Joabe e Abisai, o seu irmão, perseguiram Seba, o filho de Bicri.
11 And one of Ioabs men stoode by him, and saide, He that fauoureth Ioab, and hee that is of Dauids part, let him go after Ioab.
11 E um dos homens de Joabe pôs-se de pé ao seu lado, e disse: Aquele que favorecer Joabe, e aquele que for por Davi, que siga Joabe.
12 And Amasa wallowed in blood in the mids of the way: and when the man sawe that all the people stood still, he remooued Amasa out of the way into the fielde, and cast a cloth vpon him, because he saw that euery one that came by him, stoode still.
12 E Amasa chafurdava-se no sangue, no meio do caminho principal. E quando o homem viu que todo o povo permanecia imóvel, ele removeu Amasa do caminho principal para o campo, e lançou um pano sobre ele, quando viu que todos os que se aproximavam dele ficavam imóveis.
13 When hee was remoued out of the way, euerie man went after Ioab, to follow after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
13 Quando ele foi removido do caminho principal, todo o povo continuou atrás de Joabe, para perseguir Seba, o filho de Bicri.
14 And he went through all the tribes of Israel vnto Abel, and Bethmaachah and all places of Berim: and they gathered together, and went also after him.
14 E ele foi por todas as tribos de Israel até Abel, e até Bete-Maaca, e todos os beritas; e eles foram reunidos, e também foram atrás dele.
15 So they came, and besieged him in Abel, neere to Bethmaachah: and they cast vp a mount against the citie, and the people thereof stood on the ramper, and al the people that was with Ioab, destroyed and cast downe the wall.
15 E eles chegaram e o sitiaram em Abel de Bete-Maaca, e eles ergueram um aterro encostado à cidade, e este ficava dentro de uma trincheira; e todo o povo que estava com Joabe golpeou a muralha, para lançá-la abaixo.
16 Then cried a wise woman out of the citie, Heare, heare, I pray you, say vnto Ioab, Come thou hither, that I may speake with thee.
16 Então uma mulher sábia gritou da cidade: Ouvi, ouvi; dizei, rogo-vos, a Joabe: Vem aqui mais perto, para que eu possa falar contigo.
17 And when hee came neere vnto her, the woman said, Art thou Ioab? And he answered, Yea. And she said to him, Heare the wordes of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do heare.
17 E quando ele se aproximou dela, a mulher disse: És tu Joabe? E ele respondeu: Eu Sou Ele. Então, ela disse a ele: Ouve as palavras de tua criada. E ele respondeu: Estou ouvindo.
18 Then shee spake thus, They spake in the olde time, saying, They shoulde aske of Abel. and so haue they continued.
18 Então ela falou, dizendo: Eles estavam acostumados a falar em tempos antigos, dizendo: Eles certamente pedirão conselho a Abel; e assim eles encerravam a questão.
19 I am one of them, that are peaceable and faithful in Israel: and thou goest about to destroy a citie, and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou deuoure the inheritance of the Lord?
19 Sou eu uma das pacíficas e das fiéis em Israel; tu buscas destruir uma cidade e uma mãe em Israel; por que queres engolir a herança do SENHOR?
20 And Ioab answered, and said, God forbid, God forbid it me, that I should deuoure, or destroy it.
20 E Joabe respondeu, e disse: Longe esteja isto, longe esteja de mim engolir ou destruir.
21 The matter is not so, but a man of mout Ephraim (Sheba ye sonne of Bichri by name) hath lift vp his had against ye King, euen against Dauid: deliuer vs him onely, and I will depart from the citie. And the woman saide vnto Ioab, Beholde, his head shalbe throwen to thee ouer the wall.
21 A questão não é assim; mas um homem do monte Efraim, Seba, filho de Bicri por nome, levantou a sua mão contra o rei, contra o próprio Davi; entrega-mo somente, e partirei da cidade. E a mulher disse a Joabe: Eis que a sua cabeça te será lançada por sobre a muralha.
22 Then the woman went vnto all the people with her wisedome, and they cut off the head of Sheba the sonne of Bichri, and cast it to Ioab: the he blewe the trumpet, and they retired from the citie, euery man to his tent: and Ioab returned to Ierusalem vnto the King.
22 Então a mulher foi a todo o povo em sua sabedoria; e eles cortaram a cabeça de Seba, o filho de Bicri, e a lançaram para Joabe. E ele soprou uma trombeta, e eles se retiraram da cidade, cada homem para a sua tenda. E Joabe retornou a Jerusalém, para o rei.
23 Then Ioab was ouer all the hoste of Israel, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada ouer the Cherethites and ouer the Pelethies,
23 Ora, Joabe estava sobre todo o exército de Israel; e Benaia, o filho de Joiada, estava sobre os quereteus e sobre os peleteus;
24 And Adoram ouer the tribute, and Ioshaphat the sonne of Ahilud the recorder,
24 e Adorão estava sobre o tributo; e Josafá, o filho de Ailude era o escrivão;
25 And Sheia was Scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar the Priests,
25 e Seva era escriba; e Zadoque e Abiatar eram os sacerdotes;
26 And also Ira the Iairite was chiefe about Dauid.
26 e também Ira, o jairita, era o governador-mor junto a Davi.
