1 Ahab had nowe seuentie sonnes in Samaria. And Iehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria vnto the rulers of Izreel, and to the Elders, and to the bringers vp of Ahabs children, to this effect,
1 Acabe tinha setenta filhos que moravam na cidade de Samaria. Jeú escreveu uma carta às autoridades e aos oficiais da cidade e aos guardiões dos filhos do rei Acabe, em que dizia:
2 Nowe when this letter commeth to you, (for ye haue with you your masters sonnes, yee haue with you both charets and horses, and a defenced citie, and armour)
2 “Os filhos do rei estão sob seus cuidados, e vocês têm carros de guerra, cavalos, uma cidade fortificada e armas. Assim que receberem esta carta,
3 Consider therefore which of your masters sonnes is best and most meete, and set him on his fathers throne, and fight for your masters house.
3 escolham para ser rei o melhor e mais capaz dos filhos de seu senhor e preparem-se para lutar pela dinastia de Acabe”.
4 But they were exceedingly afraid, and saide, Behold two Kings coulde not stande before him, how shall we then stand?
4 Eles ficaram apavorados e disseram: “Dois reis não foram capazes de enfrentar esse homem! O que podemos fazer?”.
5 And he that was gouernour of Ahabs house, and he that ruled the citie, and the Elders, and the bringers vp of the children sent to Iehu, saying, We are thy seruants, and will doe all that thou shalt bid vs: we will make no King: do what seemeth good to thee.
5 Então os administradores do palácio e da cidade, juntamente com as autoridades e os guardiões dos filhos do rei, enviaram esta mensagem a Jeú: “Somos seus servos e faremos o que o senhor ordenar. Não proclamaremos nenhum rei; faça o que lhe parecer melhor”.
6 Then he wrote another letter to them, saying, If ye be mine, and wil obey my voyce, take the heads of ye men that are your masters sonnes, and come to me to Izreel by to morowe this time. (Nowe the Kings sonnes, euen seuentie persons were with the great men of the citie, which brought them vp)
6 Jeú respondeu com outra carta: “Se estão do meu lado e vão me obedecer, tragam-me as cabeças dos filhos de seu senhor a Jezreel, amanhã a esta hora”. Os setenta filhos de Acabe estavam sob os cuidados dos líderes de Samaria, onde haviam sido criados desde a infância.
7 And when the letter came to them, they tooke the Kings sonnes, and slewe the seuentie persons, and layde their heads in baskets, and sent them vnto him to Izreel.
7 Quando a carta chegou, os líderes mataram os setenta filhos do rei. Colocaram as cabeças em cestos e as entregaram a Jeú, em Jezreel.
8 Then there came a messenger and tolde him, saying, They haue brought the heads of the Kings sonnes. And he sayd, Let them lay them on two heapes at the entring in of the gate vntil the morning.
8 Um mensageiro foi a Jeú e disse: “Eles trouxeram as cabeças dos filhos do rei”. Então Jeú ordenou: “Façam com elas dois montões junto ao portão de entrada da cidade e deixem que fiquem lá até amanhã cedo”.
9 And when it was day, he went out, and stood and sayd to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?
9 Na manhã seguinte, ele saiu e se dirigiu à multidão que havia se reunido ali. “Vocês não têm culpa”, disse ele. “Eu conspirei contra meu senhor e o matei. Mas quem matou todos estes?
10 Knowe nowe that there shall fall vnto the earth nothing of the word of the Lord, which the Lord spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the Lord hath brought to passe the things that hee spake by his seruant Eliiah.
10 Podem ter certeza de que a mensagem do S enhor a respeito da família de Acabe se cumprirá. O S enhor declarou por meio de seu servo Elias que isso aconteceria.”
11 So Iehu slew al that remained of the house of Ahab in Izreel, and all that were great with him, and his familiars and his priestes, so that he let none of his remaine.
11 Então Jeú matou todos os parentes de Acabe que restavam em Jezreel e todos os seus oficiais mais importantes, seus amigos pessoais e seus sacerdotes. Nenhum descendente de Acabe sobreviveu.
12 And he arose, and departed and came to Samaria. And as Iehu was in the way by an house where the shepheards did shere,
12 Depois, Jeú partiu para Samaria. No caminho, em Bete-Equede dos Pastores,
13 He met with the brethre of Ahaziah king of Iudah, and sayd, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah, and goe downe to salute the children of the King and the children of the Queene.
13 encontrou alguns parentes de Acazias, rei de Judá. “Quem são vocês?”, perguntou. Eles responderam: “Somos parentes do rei Acazias. Vamos visitar a família do rei Acabe e da rainha-mãe”.
14 And he sayde, Take them aliue. And they tooke them aliue, and slew them at the well beside the house where the sheepe are shorne, euen two and fourtie men, and he left not one of them.
14 “Prendam-nos vivos!”, ordenou Jeú a seus homens. Eles os capturaram, 42 pessoas ao todo, e os mataram junto ao poço de Bete-Equede. Nenhum deles escapou.
15 And when he was departed thence, hee met with Iehonadab the sonne of Rechab comming to meete him, and he blessed him, and sayde to him, Is thine heart vpright, as mine heart is towarde thine? And Iehonadab answered, Yea, doubtlesse. Then giue me thine hande. And when he had giuen him his hande, he tooke him vp to him into the charet.
15 Quando Jeú partiu dali, encontrou Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, que vinha falar com ele. Depois de cumprimentá-lo, Jeú lhe disse: “Você é leal a mim como sou a você?”. “Sim, eu sou”, respondeu Jonadabe. “Então dê-me sua mão”, disse Jeú. Jonadabe estendeu a mão, e Jeú o ajudou a subir à carruagem.
16 And he sayde, Come with me, and see the zeale that I haue for the Lord: so they made him ride in his charet.
16 E lhe disse: “Venha comigo, e você verá a minha dedicação ao S enhor ”. Jonadabe foi com ele.
17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained vnto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the worde of the Lord, which he spake to Eliiah.
17 Quando Jeú chegou a Samaria, matou todos que restavam ali da família de Acabe, como o S enhor havia anunciado por meio de Elias.
18 Then Iehu assembled all the people, and sayd vnto them, Ahab serued Baal a litle, but Iehu shall serue him much more.
18 Jeú reuniu todo o povo da cidade e lhes disse: “A adoração de Acabe a Baal não foi nada comparado ao modo como eu o adorarei!
19 Now therefore call vnto me all ye prophets of Baal, all his seruants, and all his priests, and let not a man be lacking: for I haue a great sacrifice for Baal: whosoeuer is lacking, he shall not liue. But Iehu did it by a subtiltie to destroy ye seruats of Baal.
19 Portanto, convoquem todos os profetas e adoradores de Baal e reúnam todos os seus sacerdotes. Todos devem vir, pois vou oferecer um grande sacrifício a Baal. Quem não comparecer será morto”. O plano astuto de Jeú, porém, era destruir todos os adoradores de Baal.
20 And Iehu sayd, Proclaime a solemne assemblie for Baal. And they proclaimed it.
20 Então Jeú ordenou: “Preparem uma reunião solene para prestar culto a Baal!”. A convocação foi feita,
21 So Iehu sent vnto all Israel, and all the seruants of Baal came, and there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal, and the house of Baal was full from ende to ende.
21 e ele enviou mensageiros por todo o Israel. Todos os adoradores de Baal vieram, e ninguém faltou. Encheram o templo de Baal de uma extremidade à outra.
22 Then he said vnto him that had the charge of the vestrie, Bring forth vestments for al the seruants of Baal. And he brought the out vestments.
22 Jeú instruiu o responsável pela sala de vestimentas: “Todos os adoradores de Baal devem usar estas roupas”. E as roupas foram distribuídas.
23 And when Iehu went, and Iehonadab the sonne of Rechab into the house of Baal, he sayde vnto the seruants of Baal, Searche diligently, and looke, lest there be here with you any of the seruants of the Lord, but the seruants of Baal only.
23 Em seguida, Jeú entrou no templo de Baal com Jonadabe, filho de Recabe. Disse aos adoradores de Baal: “Certifiquem-se de que ninguém que adora o S enhor esteja aqui, mas somente aqueles que adoram Baal”.
24 And when they went in to make sacrifice and burnt offering, Iehu appoynted foure score men without, and sayd, If any of the men whome I haue brought into your hands, escape, his soule shalbe for his soule.
24 Estavam todos dentro do templo para oferecer sacrifícios e holocaustos. Jeú havia colocado oitenta homens do lado de fora do edifício e os avisado: “Se deixarem alguém escapar, pagarão com a própria vida”.
25 And when hee had made an ende of the burnt offring, Iehu sayde to the garde, and to the captaines, Goe in, slay them, let not a man come out. And they smote them with the edge of the sworde. And the garde, and the captaines cast them out, and went vnto the citie, where was the temple of Baal.
25 Assim que Jeú terminou de oferecer o holocausto, deu ordem a seus guardas e oficiais: “Entrem e matem todos. Não deixem ninguém escapar!”. Os guardas e os oficiais mataram todos e arrastaram os corpos para fora. Então os homens de Jeú entraram na câmara mais interna do templo de Baal.
26 And they brought out the images of the temple of Baal, and burnt them.
26 Levaram para fora a coluna sagrada usada no culto a Baal e a jogaram no fogo.
27 And they destroyed the image of Baal, and threwe downe the house of Baal, and made a iakes of it vnto this day.
27 Despedaçaram a coluna sagrada, demoliram o templo de Baal e o transformaram em banheiros públicos, como é até hoje.
28 So Iehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
28 Desse modo, Jeú destruiu todos os vestígios do culto a Baal em Israel.
29 But from the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat which made Israel to sinne, Iehu departed not from them, neither from the golden calues that were in Beth-el and that were in Dan.
29 Contudo, não destruiu os bezerros de ouro em Betel e Dã com os quais Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, havia levado Israel a pecar.
30 And the Lord sayde vnto Iehu, Because thou hast diligently executed that which was right in mine eyes, and hast done vnto the house of Ahab according to all things that were in mine heart, therefore shall thy sonnes vnto the fourth generation sit on the throne of Israel.
30 Ainda assim, o S enhor disse a Jeú: “Você fez bem em seguir minhas instruções e destruir a família de Acabe. Por isso, seus descendentes serão reis de Israel até a quarta geração”.
31 But Iehu regarded not to walke in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart: for hee departed not from the sinnes of Ieroboam, which made Israel to sinne.
31 Mas Jeú não obedeceu de todo o coração à lei do S enhor , o Deus de Israel. Não se afastou dos pecados que Jeroboão havia levado Israel a cometer.
32 In those dayes the Lord began to lothe Israel, and Hazael smote them in all the coastes of Israel,
32 Naquele tempo, o S enhor começou a reduzir o território de Israel. O rei Hazael conquistou várias regiões do reino
33 From Iorden Eastward, euen all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and them that were of Manasseh, from Aroer (which is by the riuer Arnon) and Gilead and Bashan.
33 a leste do rio Jordão, incluindo toda a terra de Gileade, de Gade, de Rúben e de Manassés. Conquistou a região desde a cidade de Aroer, perto do vale do Arnom, até Gileade e Basã, ao norte.
34 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehu, and all that he did, and all his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
34 Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Jeú, tudo que ele fez e a extensão de seu poder, estão registrados no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel .
35 And Iehu slept with his fathers, and they buryed him in Samaria, and Iehoahaz his sonne reigned in his stead.
35 Quando Jeú morreu e se reuniu a seus antepassados, foi sepultado em Samaria. Seu filho Jeoacaz foi seu sucessor.
36 And the time that Iehu reigned ouer Israel in Samaria is eight and twentie yeeres.
36 Ao todo, Jeú reinou por 28 anos sobre Israel em Samaria.
