1 Ahab had nowe seuentie sonnes in Samaria. And Iehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria vnto the rulers of Izreel, and to the Elders, and to the bringers vp of Ahabs children, to this effect,
1 Ora, Acabe tinha setenta filhos em Samária. E Jeú escreveu cartas, e as enviou a Samária, aos chefes de Jizreel, aos anciãos, e aos aios dos filhos de Acabe, dizendo:
2 Nowe when this letter commeth to you, (for ye haue with you your masters sonnes, yee haue with you both charets and horses, and a defenced citie, and armour)
2 Logo que vos chegar esta carta, visto que estão convosco os filhos de vosso senhor, como também carros, e cavalos, e uma cidade fortificada, e armas,
3 Consider therefore which of your masters sonnes is best and most meete, and set him on his fathers throne, and fight for your masters house.
3 escolhei o melhor e mais reto dos filhos de vosso senhor, ponde-o sobre o trono de seu pai, e pelejai pela casa de vosso senhor.
4 But they were exceedingly afraid, and saide, Behold two Kings coulde not stande before him, how shall we then stand?
4 Eles, porém, temeram muitíssimo, e disseram: Eis que dois reis não lhe puderam resistir; como, pois, poderemos nós resistir-lhe?
5 And he that was gouernour of Ahabs house, and he that ruled the citie, and the Elders, and the bringers vp of the children sent to Iehu, saying, We are thy seruants, and will doe all that thou shalt bid vs: we will make no King: do what seemeth good to thee.
5 Então o que tinha cargo da casa, o que tinha cargo da cidade, os anciãos e os aios mandaram dizer a Jeú: Nós somos teus servos, e tudo quanto nos ordenares faremos; a homem algum constituiremos rei. Faze o que parecer bem aos teus olhos.
6 Then he wrote another letter to them, saying, If ye be mine, and wil obey my voyce, take the heads of ye men that are your masters sonnes, and come to me to Izreel by to morowe this time. (Nowe the Kings sonnes, euen seuentie persons were with the great men of the citie, which brought them vp)
6 Depois lhes escreveu outra carta, dizendo: Se sois comigo, e se quereis ouvir a minha voz, tomai as cabeças dos homens, filhos de vosso senhor, e amanhã a estas horas vinde ter comigo a Jizreel: Ora, os filhos do rei, que eram setenta, estavam com os grandes da cidade, que os criavam.:
7 And when the letter came to them, they tooke the Kings sonnes, and slewe the seuentie persons, and layde their heads in baskets, and sent them vnto him to Izreel.
7 Sucedeu pois, que, chegada a eles a carta, tomaram os setenta filhos do rei e os mataram; puseram as cabeças deles nuns cestos, e lhas mandaram a Jizreel.
8 Then there came a messenger and tolde him, saying, They haue brought the heads of the Kings sonnes. And he sayd, Let them lay them on two heapes at the entring in of the gate vntil the morning.
8 Veio um mensageiro e lhe anunciou, dizendo: Trouxeram as cabeças dos filhos do rei. E ele disse: Ponde-as em dois montões à entrada da porta, até pela manhã.
9 And when it was day, he went out, and stood and sayd to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?
9 Ao sair ele pela manhã, parou, e disse a todo o povo: Vós sois justos; eis que eu conspirei contra o meu senhor, e o matei; mas quem feriu a todos estes?
10 Knowe nowe that there shall fall vnto the earth nothing of the word of the Lord, which the Lord spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the Lord hath brought to passe the things that hee spake by his seruant Eliiah.
10 Sabei, pois, agora que, da palavra do senhor, que o Senhor falou contra a casa de Acabe, nada cairá em terra; porque o Senhor tem feito o que falou por intermédio de seu servo Elias.
11 So Iehu slew al that remained of the house of Ahab in Izreel, and all that were great with him, and his familiars and his priestes, so that he let none of his remaine.
11 E Jeú feriu todos os restantes da casa de Acabe em Jizreel, como também a todos os seus grandes, os seus amigos íntimos, e os seus sacerdotes, até não lhe deixar ficar nenhum de resto.
12 And he arose, and departed and came to Samaria. And as Iehu was in the way by an house where the shepheards did shere,
12 Então Jeú se levantou e partiu para ir a Samária. E, estando no caminho, em Bete-Equede dos pastores,
13 He met with the brethre of Ahaziah king of Iudah, and sayd, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah, and goe downe to salute the children of the King and the children of the Queene.
13 encontrou-se com os irmãos de Acazias, rei de Judá, e perguntou: Quem sois vós? Responderam eles: Somos os irmãos de Acazias; e descemos a saudar os filhos do rei e os filhos da rainha.
14 And he sayde, Take them aliue. And they tooke them aliue, and slew them at the well beside the house where the sheepe are shorne, euen two and fourtie men, and he left not one of them.
14 Então disse ele: Apanhai-os vivos. E eles os apanharam vivos, quarenta e dois homens, e os mataram junto ao poço de Bete-Equede, e a nenhum deles deixou de resto.
15 And when he was departed thence, hee met with Iehonadab the sonne of Rechab comming to meete him, and he blessed him, and sayde to him, Is thine heart vpright, as mine heart is towarde thine? And Iehonadab answered, Yea, doubtlesse. Then giue me thine hande. And when he had giuen him his hande, he tooke him vp to him into the charet.
15 E, partindo dali, encontrou-se com Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, que lhe vinha ao encontro, ao qual saudou e lhe perguntou: O teu coração é sincero para comigo como o meu o é para contigo? Respondeu Jonadabe: É. Então, se é, disse Jeú, dá-me a tua mão. E ele lhe deu a mão; e Jeú fê-lo subir consigo ao carro,
16 And he sayde, Come with me, and see the zeale that I haue for the Lord: so they made him ride in his charet.
16 e disse: Vem comigo, e vê o meu zelo para com o Senhor. E fê-lo sentar consigo no carro.
17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained vnto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the worde of the Lord, which he spake to Eliiah.
17 Quando Jeú chegou a Samária, feriu a todos os que restavam de Acabe em Samária, até os destruir, conforme a palavra que o Senhor dissera a Elias.
18 Then Iehu assembled all the people, and sayd vnto them, Ahab serued Baal a litle, but Iehu shall serue him much more.
18 Depois ajuntou Jeú todo o povo, e disse-lhe: Acabe serviu pouco a Baal; Jeú, porém, muito o servirá.
19 Now therefore call vnto me all ye prophets of Baal, all his seruants, and all his priests, and let not a man be lacking: for I haue a great sacrifice for Baal: whosoeuer is lacking, he shall not liue. But Iehu did it by a subtiltie to destroy ye seruats of Baal.
19 Pelo que chamai agora à minha presença todos os profetas de Baal, todos os seus servos e todos os seus sacerdotes; não falte nenhum, porque tenho um grande sacrifício a fazer a Baal; aquele que faltar não viverá. Jeú, porém, fazia isto com astúcia, para destruir os adoradores de Baal.
20 And Iehu sayd, Proclaime a solemne assemblie for Baal. And they proclaimed it.
20 Disse mais Jeú: Consagrai a Baal uma assembléia solene. E eles a apregoaram.
21 So Iehu sent vnto all Israel, and all the seruants of Baal came, and there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal, and the house of Baal was full from ende to ende.
21 Também Jeú enviou mensageiros por todo o Israel; e vieram todos os adoradores de Baal, de modo que não ficou deles homem algum que não viesse. E entraram na casa de Baal, e encheu-se a casa de Baal, de um lado a outro.
22 Then he said vnto him that had the charge of the vestrie, Bring forth vestments for al the seruants of Baal. And he brought the out vestments.
22 Então disse ao que tinha a seu cargo as vestimentas: Tira vestimentas para todos os adoradores de Baal. E eles lhes tirou para fora as vestimentas.
23 And when Iehu went, and Iehonadab the sonne of Rechab into the house of Baal, he sayde vnto the seruants of Baal, Searche diligently, and looke, lest there be here with you any of the seruants of the Lord, but the seruants of Baal only.
23 E entrou Jeú com Jonadabe, filho de Recabe, na casa de Baal, e disse aos adoradores de Baal: Examinai, e vede bem, que porventura não haja entre vós algum servo do Senhor, mas somente os adoradores de Baal. dom; porém não puderam.
24 And when they went in to make sacrifice and burnt offering, Iehu appoynted foure score men without, and sayd, If any of the men whome I haue brought into your hands, escape, his soule shalbe for his soule.
24 Assim entraram para oferecer sacrifícios e holocaustos. Ora, Jeú tinha posto de prontidão do lado de fora oitenta homens, e lhes tinha dito: Aquele que deixar escapar algum dos homens que eu vos entregar nas mãos, pagará com a própria vida a vida dele.
25 And when hee had made an ende of the burnt offring, Iehu sayde to the garde, and to the captaines, Goe in, slay them, let not a man come out. And they smote them with the edge of the sworde. And the garde, and the captaines cast them out, and went vnto the citie, where was the temple of Baal.
25 Sucedeu, pois, que, acabando de fazer o holocausto, disse Jeú aos da sua guarda, e aos oficiais: Entrai e matai-os! não escape nenhum! Então os feriram ao fio da espada; e os da guarda e os oficiais os lançaram fora e, entrando no santuário da casa de Baal,
26 And they brought out the images of the temple of Baal, and burnt them.
26 tiraram as colunas que nela estavam, e as queimaram.
27 And they destroyed the image of Baal, and threwe downe the house of Baal, and made a iakes of it vnto this day.
27 Também quebraram a coluna de Baal, e derrubaram a casa de Baal, fazendo dela uma latrina, como é até o dia de hoje.
28 So Iehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
28 Assim Jeú exterminou de Israel a Baal.
29 But from the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat which made Israel to sinne, Iehu departed not from them, neither from the golden calues that were in Beth-el and that were in Dan.
29 Todavia Jeú não se apartou dos pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, com que fez Israel pecar, a saber, dos bezerros de ouro, que estavam em Betel e em Dã.
30 And the Lord sayde vnto Iehu, Because thou hast diligently executed that which was right in mine eyes, and hast done vnto the house of Ahab according to all things that were in mine heart, therefore shall thy sonnes vnto the fourth generation sit on the throne of Israel.
30 Ora, disse o Senhor a Jeú: Porquanto executaste bem o que é reto aos meus olhos, e fizeste à casa de Acabe conforme tudo quanto eu tinha no meu coração, teus filhos até a quarta geração se assentarão no trono de Israel.
31 But Iehu regarded not to walke in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart: for hee departed not from the sinnes of Ieroboam, which made Israel to sinne.
31 Mas Jeú não teve o cuidado de andar de todo o seu coração na lei do Senhor Deus de Israel, nem se apartou dos pecados de Jeroboão, com os quais este fez Israel pecar.
32 In those dayes the Lord began to lothe Israel, and Hazael smote them in all the coastes of Israel,
32 Naqueles dias começou o Senhor a diminuir os termos de Israel. Hazael feriu a Israel em todas as suas fronteiras,
33 From Iorden Eastward, euen all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and them that were of Manasseh, from Aroer (which is by the riuer Arnon) and Gilead and Bashan.
33 desde o Jordão para o nascente do sol, a toda a terra de Gileade, aos gaditas, aos rubenitas e aos manassitas, desde Aroer, que está junto ao ribeiro de Arnom, por toda a Gileade e Basã.
34 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehu, and all that he did, and all his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
34 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeú, e tudo quanto fez, e todo o seu poder, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?
35 And Iehu slept with his fathers, and they buryed him in Samaria, and Iehoahaz his sonne reigned in his stead.
35 Jeú dormiu com seus pais, e o sepultaram em Samária. Em seu lugar reinou seu filho Jeoacaz.
36 And the time that Iehu reigned ouer Israel in Samaria is eight and twentie yeeres.
36 Os dias que Jeú reinou sobre Israel em Samária foram vinte e oito anos.
