1 And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered of the house of Iudah and Beniamin nine score thousande chosen men of warre to fight against Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam.
1 Quando Roboão chegou a Jerusalém, reuniu a casa de Judá e de Benjamim, cento e oitenta mil homens escolhidos, treinados para a guerra, para lutar contra Israel, a fim de restituir o reino a Roboão.
2 But the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
2 Porém a palavra do Senhor veio a Semaías, homem de Deus, dizendo:
3 Speake vnto Rehoboam, the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and to all Israel that are in Iudah, and Beniamin, saying,
3 — Diga a Roboão, filho de Salomão, rei de Judá, e a todo o Israel em Judá e Benjamim:
4 Thus sayth the Lord, Ye shall not goe vp, nor fight against your brethren: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done of me. They obeyed therfore the word of the Lord, and returned from going against Ieroboam.
4 Assim diz o Senhor : “Não subam, nem lutem contra os seus irmãos. Que cada um volte para a sua casa, porque eu é que fiz isto.” E eles obedeceram à palavra do
5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Ierusalem, and buylt strong cities in Iudah.
5 Roboão morou em Jerusalém e, para defesa, fortificou várias cidades em Judá, a saber,
6 Hee buylt also Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
6 Belém, Etã, Tecoa,
7 And Beth-zur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
7 Bete-Zur, Socó, Adulão,
8 And Gath, and Maresha, and Ziph,
8 Gate, Maressa, Zife,
9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
9 Adoraim, Laquis, Azeca,
10 And Zorah, and Aialon, and Hebron, which were in Iudah and Beniamin, strong cities.
10 Zorá, Aijalom e Hebrom. Todas estas cidades fortificadas estão em Judá e Benjamim.
11 And he repaired the strong holdes and put captaines in them, and store of vitaile, and oyle and wine.
11 Assim, Roboão as tornou em fortalezas, pôs nelas comandantes e nelas armazenou mantimentos, azeite e vinho.
12 And in all cities he put shieldes and speares, and made them exceeding strong: so Iudah and Beniamin were his.
12 E pôs em cada cidade um arsenal de escudos e lanças, tornando-as muito fortes. Judá e Benjamim ficaram sob o domínio de Roboão.
13 And the Priests and the Leuites that were in all Israel, resorted vnto him out of all their coastes.
13 Os sacerdotes e os levitas de todos os lugares de Israel apoiaram Roboão.
14 For the Leuites left their suburbes and their possession, and came to Iudah and to Ierusalem: for Ieroboam and his sonnes had cast them out from ministring in the Priestes office vnto the Lord.
14 Os levitas abandonaram os arredores das suas cidades e as suas propriedades e vieram para Judá e para Jerusalém, porque Jeroboão e seus filhos os expulsaram, para que não ministrassem ao Senhor .
15 And he ordeyned him Priests for the hie places, and for the deuils and for the calues which he had made.
15 Jeroboão constituiu os seus próprios sacerdotes, para os lugares altos, para os ídolos em forma de bodes e de bezerros que tinha mandado fazer.
16 And after the Leuites there came to Ierusalem of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their heartes to seeke the Lord God of Israel, to offer vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
16 Além destes, também de todas as tribos de Israel os que de coração resolveram buscar o Senhor , Deus de Israel, foram a Jerusalém, para oferecer sacrifícios ao Senhor , Deus de seus pais.
17 So they strengthened the kingdome of Iudah, and made Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon mightie, three yeere long: for three yeere they walked in in the way of Dauid and Salomon.
17 Assim, fortaleceram o reino de Judá e firmaram o poder de Roboão, filho de Salomão, durante três anos. Porque durante três anos andaram no caminho de Davi e de Salomão.
18 And Rehoboam tooke him Mahalath ye daughter of Ierimoth the sonne of Dauid to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the sonne of Ishai,
18 Roboão tomou por esposa Maalate, filha de Jerimote, filho de Davi, e filha de Abiail, filha de Eliabe, filho de Jessé.
19 Which bare him sonnes Ieush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
19 Maalate lhe deu três filhos: Jeús, Semarias e Zaão.
20 And after her he tooke Maakah ye daughter of Absalom which bare him Abiiah, and Atthai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
20 Depois dela, Roboão casou com Maaca, filha de Absalão, que lhe deu quatro filhos: Abias, Atai, Ziza e Selomite.
21 And Rehoboam loued Maakah ye daughter of Absalom aboue all his wiues and his concubines: for he tooke eighteene wiues, and three score concubines, and begate eyght and twentie sonnes, and three score daughters.
21 Roboão amava Maaca, filha de Absalão, mais do que todas as suas outras mulheres e concubinas. Porque ele havia tomado dezoito mulheres e sessenta concubinas; e gerou vinte e oito filhos e sessenta filhas.
22 And Rehoboam made Abiiah the sonne of Maakah the chiefe ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him King.
22 Roboão designou Abias, filho de Maaca, para ser chefe, príncipe entre os seus irmãos, porque queria fazê-lo rei.
23 And he taught him: and dispersed all his sonnes throughout all the countreis of Iudah and Beniamin vnto euery strong citie: and hee gaue them aboundance of vitaile, and desired many wiues.
23 Procedeu com sabedoria e distribuiu todos os seus filhos por todas as terras de Judá e Benjamim, por todas as cidades fortificadas. Deu-lhes mantimentos em abundância e lhes arranjou muitas mulheres.
