1 Rebuke not an Elder, but exhort him as a father, and the yonger men as brethren,
1 Nunca fale com dureza a um homem mais velho, mas aconselhe-o como faria com seu próprio pai. Quanto aos mais jovens, aconselhe-os como a irmãos.
2 The elder women as mothers, the yonger as sisters, with all purenesse.
2 Trate as mulheres mais velhas como trataria sua mãe, e as mais jovens, com toda pureza, como se fossem suas irmãs.
3 Honour widowes, which are widowes in deede.
3 Cuide das viúvas que não têm ninguém para ajudá-las.
4 But if any widowe haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shewe godlinesse towarde their owne house, and to recompense their kinred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God.
4 Mas, se elas tiverem filhos ou netos, a primeira responsabilidade deles é mostrar devoção no lar e retribuir aos pais o cuidado recebido. Isso é algo que agrada a Deus.
5 And shee that is a widowe in deede and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and praiers night and day.
5 A verdadeira viúva, uma mulher sozinha no mundo, põe sua esperança em Deus. Dia e noite, faz súplicas e orações.
6 But shee that liueth in pleasure, is dead, while shee liueth.
6 Mas a viúva que vive apenas para o prazer está morta, ainda que esteja viva.
7 These things therefore warne them of, that they may be blamelesse.
7 Dê essas instruções, para que ninguém fique sujeito a críticas.
8 If there bee any that prouideth not for his owne, and namely for them of his housholde, hee denieth the faith, and is worse then an infidell.
8 Aqueles que não cuidam dos seus, especialmente dos de sua própria família, negaram a fé e são piores que os descrentes.
9 Let not a widow be taken into the number vnder three score yeere olde, that hath beene the wife of one husband,
9 A viúva incluída na lista para receber sustento deve ter pelo menos sessenta anos e ter sido esposa de um só marido.
10 And well reported of for good woorkes: if shee haue nourished her children, if shee haue lodged the strangers, if shee haue washed the Saintes feete, if shee haue ministred vnto them which were in aduersitie, if shee were continually giuen vnto euery good woorke.
10 Deve ser respeitada pelo bem que praticou, como alguém que soube criar os filhos, foi hospitaleira, serviu o povo santo com humildade, ajudou os que estavam em dificuldade e sempre se dedicou a fazer o bem.
11 But refuse the yonger widowes: for when they haue begun to waxe wanton against Christ, they will marrie,
11 As viúvas mais jovens não devem fazer parte dessa lista, pois, quando seus desejos físicos forem mais fortes que sua devoção a Cristo, desejarão se casar novamente.
12 Hauing damnation, because they haue broken the first faith.
12 Assim se tornarão culpadas de quebrar o compromisso que fizeram.
13 And likewise also being idle they learne to goe about from house to house: yea, they are not onely ydle, but also pratlers and busibodies, speaking things which are not comely.
13 Além disso, aprenderão a se tornar ociosas e a andar de casa em casa, fazendo fofoca, intrometendo-se em assuntos alheios e falando do que não devem.
14 I will therefore that the yonger women marie, and beare children, and gouerne the house, and giue none occasion to the aduersary to speake euill.
14 Portanto, aconselho que essas viúvas mais jovens se casem de novo, tenham filhos e tomem conta do próprio lar. Então o inimigo não poderá dizer coisa alguma contra elas.
15 For certaine are alreadie turned backe after Satan.
15 Pois, de fato, algumas já se desviaram e agora seguem Satanás.
16 If any faithfull man, or faithfull woman haue widowes, let them minister vnto them, and let not the Church bee charged, that there may bee sufficient for them that are widowes in deede.
16 Se alguma irmã na fé tem viúvas na família, deve tomar conta delas e não sobrecarregar a igreja, que assim poderá cuidar das viúvas que estiverem verdadeiramente sozinhas.
17 The Elders that rule well, let them be had in double honour, specially they which labour in the worde and doctrine,
17 Os presbíteros que fazem bem seu trabalho devem receber honra redobrada, especialmente os que se dedicam arduamente à pregação e ao ensino.
18 For the Scripture sayeth, Thou shalt not mousell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: and, The labourer is worthie of his wages.
18 Pois as Escrituras dizem: “Não amordacem o boi para impedir que ele coma enquanto debulha os cereais”, e também: “Aqueles que trabalham merecem seu salário”.
19 Against an Elder receiue none accusation, but vnder two or three witnesses.
19 Não aceite acusação contra um presbítero sem que seja confirmada por duas ou três testemunhas.
20 Them that sinne, rebuke openly, that the rest also may feare.
20 Aqueles que pecarem devem ser repreendidos diante de todos, o que servirá de forte advertência para os demais.
21 I charge thee before God and the Lord Iesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou obserue these thinges without preferring one to an other, and doe nothing partially.
21 Ordeno solenemente, na presença de Deus, de Cristo Jesus e dos anjos eleitos que você obedeça a estas instruções sem tomar partido nem demonstrar favoritismo.
22 Lay handes suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other mens sinnes: keepe thy selfe pure.
22 Não se apresse em nomear um líder. Não participe dos pecados alheios. Mantenha-se puro.
23 Drinke no longer water, but vse a litle wine for thy stomakes sake, and thine often infirmities.
23 Não beba apenas água. Uma vez que você fica doente com frequência, tome um pouco de vinho por causa de seu estômago.
24 Some mens sinnes are open before hand, and goe before vnto iudgement: but some mens folowe after.
24 Lembre-se de que os pecados de alguns são evidentes, e seu julgamento é inevitável. Há outros, porém, cujos pecados só serão revelados mais tarde.
25 Likewise also the good woorkes are manifest before hande, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.
25 Da mesma forma, as boas obras de alguns são evidentes, e outras, feitas em segredo, um dia serão conhecidas.
