1 Rebuke not an Elder, but exhort him as a father, and the yonger men as brethren,
1 Não repreenda um homem mais velho; pelo contrário, exorte-o como você faria com o seu pai. Trate os mais jovens como irmãos,
2 The elder women as mothers, the yonger as sisters, with all purenesse.
2 as mulheres mais velhas, como mães, e as mais jovens, como irmãs, com toda a pureza.
3 Honour widowes, which are widowes in deede.
3 Honre as viúvas que não têm ninguém para cuidar delas.
4 But if any widowe haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shewe godlinesse towarde their owne house, and to recompense their kinred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God.
4 Mas, se alguma viúva tem filhos ou netos, que estes aprendam primeiro a exercer piedade para com a própria casa e a recompensar os seus pais, pois isto é aceitável diante de Deus.
5 And shee that is a widowe in deede and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and praiers night and day.
5 Aquela que é viúva de fato e não tem ninguém para cuidar dela espera em Deus e persevera em súplicas e orações, noite e dia.
6 But shee that liueth in pleasure, is dead, while shee liueth.
6 Entretanto, a que se entrega aos prazeres, mesmo viva, está morta.
7 These things therefore warne them of, that they may be blamelesse.
7 Ordene estas coisas, para que sejam irrepreensíveis.
8 If there bee any that prouideth not for his owne, and namely for them of his housholde, hee denieth the faith, and is worse then an infidell.
8 Se alguém não tem cuidado dos seus e, especialmente, dos da própria casa, esse negou a fé e é pior do que o descrente.
9 Let not a widow be taken into the number vnder three score yeere olde, that hath beene the wife of one husband,
9 Somente poderá ser incluída na lista de viúvas aquela que tiver mais de sessenta anos, que tiver sido esposa de um só marido
10 And well reported of for good woorkes: if shee haue nourished her children, if shee haue lodged the strangers, if shee haue washed the Saintes feete, if shee haue ministred vnto them which were in aduersitie, if shee were continually giuen vnto euery good woorke.
10 e que seja recomendada pelo testemunho de boas obras: se criou filhos, se exercitou hospitalidade, se lavou os pés dos santos, se socorreu os atribulados, se viveu na prática zelosa de todo tipo de boa obra.
11 But refuse the yonger widowes: for when they haue begun to waxe wanton against Christ, they will marrie,
11 Mas não inclua na lista viúvas mais novas, porque, quando seus desejos fazem com que se afastem de Cristo, querem casar,
12 Hauing damnation, because they haue broken the first faith.
12 tornando-se condenáveis por anularem o seu primeiro compromisso.
13 And likewise also being idle they learne to goe about from house to house: yea, they are not onely ydle, but also pratlers and busibodies, speaking things which are not comely.
13 Além do mais, elas aprendem também a viver ociosas, andando de casa em casa; e não somente ficam ociosas, mas ainda se tornam fofoqueiras e intrometidas, falando o que não devem.
14 I will therefore that the yonger women marie, and beare children, and gouerne the house, and giue none occasion to the aduersary to speake euill.
14 Por isso, quero que as viúvas mais novas casem, criem filhos, sejam boas donas de casa e não deem ao adversário motivo algum para falar mal de nós.
15 For certaine are alreadie turned backe after Satan.
15 Pois algumas já se desviaram, seguindo Satanás.
16 If any faithfull man, or faithfull woman haue widowes, let them minister vnto them, and let not the Church bee charged, that there may bee sufficient for them that are widowes in deede.
16 Se alguma mulher crente tem viúvas em sua família, socorra-as, para que a igreja não fique sobrecarregada e possa socorrer as viúvas que não têm ninguém.
17 The Elders that rule well, let them be had in double honour, specially they which labour in the worde and doctrine,
17 Devem ser considerados merecedores de pagamento em dobro os presbíteros que presidem bem, especialmente os que se esforçam na pregação da palavra e no ensino.
18 For the Scripture sayeth, Thou shalt not mousell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: and, The labourer is worthie of his wages.
18 Pois a Escritura declara: “Não amordace o boi quando ele pisa o trigo.” E, ainda: “O trabalhador é digno do seu salário.”
19 Against an Elder receiue none accusation, but vnder two or three witnesses.
19 Não aceite denúncia contra presbítero, a não ser exclusivamente sob o depoimento de duas ou três testemunhas.
20 Them that sinne, rebuke openly, that the rest also may feare.
20 Quanto aos que vivem no pecado, repreenda-os na presença de todos, para que também os demais temam.
21 I charge thee before God and the Lord Iesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou obserue these thinges without preferring one to an other, and doe nothing partially.
21 Diante de Deus, de Cristo Jesus e dos anjos eleitos, peço com insistência que você guarde estes conselhos, sem discriminação, nada fazendo com espírito de parcialidade.
22 Lay handes suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other mens sinnes: keepe thy selfe pure.
22 Não tenha pressa para impor as mãos sobre alguém. Não seja cúmplice dos pecados dos outros. Conserve-se puro.
23 Drinke no longer water, but vse a litle wine for thy stomakes sake, and thine often infirmities.
23 Não beba somente água; beba também um pouco de vinho, por causa do seu estômago e das suas frequentes enfermidades.
24 Some mens sinnes are open before hand, and goe before vnto iudgement: but some mens folowe after.
24 Os pecados de alguns são notórios, mesmo antes do juízo, mas os de outros só se manifestam mais tarde.
25 Likewise also the good woorkes are manifest before hande, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.
25 Do mesmo modo também as boas obras se evidenciam e aquelas que ainda não são manifestas não poderão ficar escondidas.
