1 Then they tolde Dauid, saying, Beholde, the Philistims fight against Keilah, and spoyle the barnes.
1 Disseram a Davi: Os filisteus estão atacando Ceila e pilhando as eiras.
2 Therfore Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shal I goe and smite these Philistims? And the Lord answered Dauid, Go and smite the Philistims, and saue Keilah.
2 Davi consultou o Senhor: Devo ferir os filisteus? O Senhor respondeu: Vai; tu os ferirás e libertarás Ceila.
3 And Dauids men said vnto him, See, we be afrayde here in Iudah, howe much more if we come to Keilah against the hoste of ye Philistims?
3 Os homens de Davi, porém, disseram-lhe: Mesmo aqui em Judá estamos cheios de medo; quanto mais se formos a Ceila contra as tropas dos filisteus?
4 Then Dauid asked counsell of the Lord againe. And the Lord answered him, and sayd, Arise, go downe to Keilah: for I wil deliuer the Philistims into thine hand.
4 Davi consultou novamente o Senhor, que lhe respondeu: Vai; desce a Ceila, porque entrego os filisteus nas tuas mãos.
5 So Dauid and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistims, and brought away their cattel, and smote them with a great slaughter: thus Dauid saued the inhabitants of Keilah.
5 Davi foi para Ceila com os seus homens e atacou os filisteus, tomando-lhes o gado e infligindo-lhes uma grande derrota. Assim libertou os habitantes de Ceila.
6 (And when Abiathar the sonne of Ahimelech fled to Dauid to Keilah, he brought an Ephod with him)
6 {Ora, quando Abiatar, filho de Aquimelec, fugira para junto de Davi a Ceila, levava consigo o efod.}
7 And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was come to Keilah, and Saul sayd, God hath deliuered him into mine hand: for he is shut in, seeing he is come into a citie that hath gates and barres.
7 Saul foi informado de que Davi se encontrava em Ceila, e disse: Deus entregou-o nas minhas mãos, pois foi encerrar-se em uma cidade com portas e ferrolhos.
8 Then Saul called all the people together to warre, for to go downe to Keilah, and to besiege Dauid and his men.
8 O rei convocou todo o povo às armas para descer a Ceila e sitiar Davi com sua tropa.
9 And Dauid hauing knowledge that Saul imagined mischiefe against him, saide to Abiathar the Priest, Bring the Ephod.
9 Mas Davi, sabendo que Saul maquinava perdê-lo, disse ao sacerdote Abiatar: Traze o efod!
10 Then sayde Dauid, O Lord God of Israel, thy seruat hath heard, that Saul is about to come to Keilah to destroy the citie for my sake.
10 E ajuntou: Senhor, Deus de Israel, vosso servo sabe que Saul pretende penetrar em Ceila para destruir a cidade por causa de mim.
11 Wil the lordes of Keilah deliuer me vp into his hand? and will Saul come downe, as thy seruant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy seruant. And the Lord sayde, He will come downe.
11 Será que os habitantes de Ceila me entregarão nas suas mãos? Saul descerá como o vosso servo ouviu dizer? Senhor, Deus de Israel, fazei-o saber ao vosso servo. O Senhor respondeu: Ele descerá.
12 Then said Dauid, Will the lords of Keilah deliuer me vp, and the men that are with me, into the hand of Saul? And the Lord sayde, They will deliuer thee vp.
12 E Davi ajuntou: Os habitantes de Ceila entregar-me-ão a mim e a meus homens, nas mãos de Saul? O Senhor respondeu: Entregarão.
13 Then Dauid and his men, which were about sixe hundreth, arose, and departed out of Keilah, and went whither they coulde. And it was tolde Saul, that Dauid was fled from Keilah, and he left off his iourney.
13 Então Davi partiu precipitadamente com a sua tropa, em número de aproximadamente seiscentos homens, e saíram de Ceila, marchando ao acaso. Saul, informado de que Davi deixara Ceila, renunciou à expedição.
14 And Dauid abode in the wildernesse in holdes, and remayned in a mountaine in the wildernes of Ziph. And Saul sought him euery day, but God deliuered him not into his hand.
14 Davi permaneceu no deserto, em lugares bem protegidos, e habitou no monte do deserto de Zif. Saul procurava-o sem cessar; mas Deus não o entregou nas suas mãos.
15 And Dauid sawe that Saul was come out for to seeke his life: and Dauid was in the wildernes of Ziph in the wood.
15 Davi, sabendo que Saul tinha saído para tirar-lhe a vida, ficou no deserto de Zif, em Horcha.
16 And Ionathan Sauls sonne arose and went to Dauid into the wood, and comforted him in God,
16 Então Jônatas, filho de Saul, foi ter com ele em Horcha. E confortou-o em Deus, dizendo:
17 And said vnto him, Feare not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not finde thee, and thou shalt be King ouer Israel, and I shalbe next vnto thee: and also Saul my father knoweth it.
17 Não temas, porque não te atingirá a mão de meu pai. Tu reinarás sobre Israel, e eu serei o teu segundo; meu pai bem o sabe.
18 So they twaine made a couenant before ye Lord: and Dauid did remaine in the wood: but Ionathan went to his house.
18 Fizeram ambos aliança diante do Senhor. Davi ficou em Horcha e Jônatas voltou para a sua casa.
19 Then came vp the Ziphims to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doeth not Dauid hide himselfe by vs in holdes, in the wood in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right side of Ieshimon?
19 Alguns zifeus subiram a ter com Saul em Gabaa, e disseram-lhe: Davi está escondido entre nós no fortim de Horcha, na colina de Haquila, à direita do deserto.
20 Nowe therefore, O King, come downe according to all that thine heart can desire, and our part shall be to deliuer him into the Kinges handes.
20 Desce, pois, ó rei, já que tanto o desejas, e nós nos encarregamos de entregá-lo nas tuas mãos.
21 Then Saul said, Be ye blessed of the Lord: for ye haue had compassion on mee.
21 Que o Senhor vos abençoe, respondeu Saul, porque vos compadecestes de mim.
22 Goe, I pray you, and prepare ye yet better: know and see his place where he haunteth, and who hath seene him there: for it is sayd to me, He is subtile, and craftie.
22 Ide, informai-vos diligentemente, e procurai saber o lugar onde ele se encontra, ou se alguém o viu, porque me foi dito que ele é muito astuto!
23 See therefore and know all the secret places where he hideth himselfe, and come ye againe to me with the certaintie, and I will goe with you: and if he be in the lande, I will searche him out throughout all the thousands of Iudah.
23 Explorai e descobri todos os seus esconderijos, e voltai a mim com notícias seguras, a fim de eu ir convosco, pois se ele estiver na terra, eu o descobrirei entre a multidão de Judá.
24 Then they arose and went to Ziph before Saul, but Dauid and his men were in the wildernesse of Maon, in the playne on the right hande of Ieshimon.
24 Partiram antes de Saul para Zif; mas Davi e os seus estavam já no deserto de Maon, na planície ao sul do deserto.
25 Saul also and his men went to seeke him, and they told Dauid: wherefore he came downe vnto a rocke, and abode in the wildernesse of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he folowed after Dauid in the wildernes of Maon.
25 Saul partiu com seus homens à sua procura. Mas Davi, informado disso, desceu à Rocha e permaneceu no deserto de Maon. Saul o soube e foi persegui-lo ali.
26 And Saul and his men went on the one side of the mountaine, and Dauid and his men on the other side of the mountaine: and Dauid made haste to get from the presence of Saul: for Saul and his men compassed Dauid and his men round about, to take them.
26 Saul ia por um flanco da montanha, e Davi com os seus pelo outro, em fuga precipitada para escapar de Saul. No momento, porém, em que Saul com seus homens iam apoderar-se de Davi e sua gente,
27 But there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come: for the Philistims haue inuaded the land.
27 veio um mensageiro anunciar ao rei: Vem depressa; os filisteus entraram na terra.
28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing Dauid, and went against the Philistims. Therefore they called that place, Sela-hammahlekoth.
28 Saul abandonou a perseguição e foi combater os filisteus. Por isso, àquele lugar foi dado o nome de Rocha da Separação.

29 Subindo dali, veio Davi habitar nas alturas de Engadi.
