1 My little children, these things write I vnto you, that ye sinne not: and if any man sinne, wee haue an Aduocate with the Father, Iesus Christ, the Iust.
1 Meus filhinhos, escrevo-lhes estas coisas para que vocês não pequem. Se, contudo, alguém pecar, temos um advogado que defende nossa causa diante do Pai: Jesus Cristo, aquele que é justo.
2 And he is the reconciliation for our sinnes: and not for ours onely, but also for the sinnes of the whole world.
2 Ele mesmo é o sacrifício para o perdão de nossos pecados, e não apenas de nossos pecados, mas dos pecados de todo o mundo.
3 And hereby we are sure that we knowe him, if we keepe his commandements.
3 E sabemos que o conhecemos se obedecemos a seus mandamentos.
4 Hee that saith, I knowe him, and keepeth not his commandements, is a liar, and the trueth is not in him.
4 Se alguém diz: “Eu o conheço”, mas não obedece a seus mandamentos, é mentiroso e a verdade não está nele.
5 But hee that keepeth his worde, in him is the loue of God perfect in deede: hereby wee knowe that ye are in him.
5 Mas quem obedece à palavra de Deus mostra que o amor que vem dele está se aperfeiçoando em sua vida. Desse modo, sabemos que estamos nele.
6 He that saith he remaineth in him, ought euen so to walke, as he hath walked.
6 Quem afirma que permanece nele deve viver como ele viveu.
7 Brethren, I write no newe commandement vnto you: but an olde commandement, which ye haue had from the beginning: this olde commandement is that worde, which yee haue heard from the beginning.
7 Amados, não lhes escrevo um novo mandamento, mas um antigo, que vocês têm desde o princípio. É a mesma mensagem que ouviram antes.
8 Againe, a new comandement I write vnto you, that which is true in him, and also in you: for the darkenes is past, and that true light now shineth.
8 E, no entanto, também é um novo mandamento, cuja verdade ele demonstrou, e vocês também a demonstram. Pois a escuridão está se dissipando, e a verdadeira luz já brilha.
9 He that saith that hee is in that light, and hateth his brother, is in darkenes, vntill this time.
9 Se alguém afirma: “Estou na luz”, mas odeia seu irmão, ainda está na escuridão.
10 Hee that loueth his brother, abideth in that light, and there is none occasion of euil in him.
10 Quem ama seu irmão permanece na luz e não leva outros a tropeçar.
11 But he that hateth his brother, is in darkenesse, and walketh in darkenesse, and knoweth not whither hee goeth, because that darkenesse hath blinded his eyes.
11 Mas quem odeia seu irmão ainda está na escuridão e anda na escuridão. Não sabe para onde vai, pois a escuridão o cegou.
12 Litle children, I write vnto you, because your sinnes are forgiuen you for his Names sake.
12 Escrevo a vocês, filhinhos, porque seus pecados foram perdoados pelo nome de Jesus.
13 I write vnto you, fathers, because yee haue knowen him that is from the beginning. I write vnto you, yong men, because ye haue ouercome that wicked one. I write vnto you, litle children, because ye haue knowen ye Father.
13 Escrevo a vocês, pais, porque conhecem aquele que existia desde o princípio. Escrevo a vocês, jovens, porque venceram a batalha contra o maligno.
14 I haue written vnto you, fathers, because ye haue knowen him, that is from the beginning. I haue written vnto you, yong men, because ye are strong, and the worde of God abideth in you, and ye haue ouercome that wicked one.
14 Escrevi a vocês, filhinhos, porque conhecem o Pai. Escrevi a vocês, pais, porque conhecem aquele que existia desde o princípio. Escrevi a vocês, jovens, porque são fortes. A palavra de Deus permanece em seu coração, e vocês venceram o maligno.
15 Loue not this world, neither the things that are in this world. If any man loue this world, the loue of the Father is not in him.
15 Não amem este mundo, nem as coisas que ele oferece, pois, quando amam o mundo, o amor do Pai não está em vocês.
16 For all that is in this world (as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) is not of the Father, but is of this world.
16 Porque o mundo oferece apenas o desejo intenso por prazer físico, o desejo intenso por tudo que vemos e o orgulho de nossas realizações e bens. Isso não provém do Pai, mas do mundo.
17 And this world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that fulfilleth the will of God, abideth euer.
17 E este mundo passa, e com ele tudo que as pessoas tanto desejam. Mas quem faz o que agrada a Deus vive para sempre.
18 Litle children, it is the last time, and as ye haue heard that Antichrist shall come, euen now are there many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last time.
18 Filhinhos, chegou a hora final. Vocês ouviram que o anticristo está por vir, e muitos anticristos já apareceram. Por isso sabemos que chegou a hora final.
19 They went out from vs, but they were not of vs: for if they had bene of vs, they should haue continued with vs. But this cometh to passe, that it might appeare, that they are not all of vs.
19 Eles saíram de nosso meio, mas, na verdade, nunca foram dos nossos; do contrário, teriam permanecido conosco. Quando saíram, mostraram que não eram dos nossos.
20 But ye haue an ointment from that Holy one, and know all things.
20 Mas vocês não são assim, pois o Santo lhes deu sua unção, e todos vocês conhecem a verdade.
21 I haue not written vnto you, because ye knowe not the trueth: but because ye knowe it, and that no lie is of the trueth.
21 Não lhes escrevo porque não conhecem a verdade, mas porque a conhecem e sabem que a verdade não produz mentira alguma.
22 Who is a liar, but he that denyeth that Iesus is that Christ? the same is that Antichrist that denyeth the Father and the Sonne.
22 E quem é mentiroso? Aquele que afirma que Jesus não é o Cristo. Quem nega o Pai e o Filho é o anticristo.
23 Whosoeuer denyeth the Sonne, the same hath not the Father.
23 Aquele que nega o Filho também não tem o Pai. Quem reconhece o Filho tem também o Pai.
24 Let therefore abide in you that same which ye haue heard from the beginning. If that which ye haue heard from the beginning, shall remaine in you, ye also shall continue in the Sonne, and in the Father.
24 Portanto, cuidem para que permaneça em vocês o que lhes foi ensinado desde o começo. Se o fizerem, permanecerão em comunhão com o Filho e com o Pai.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised vs, euen that eternall life.
25 E, nessa comunhão, desfrutamos a vida eterna que ele nos prometeu.
26 These things haue I written vnto you, concerning them that deceiue you.
26 Escrevo estas coisas para adverti-los sobre os que desejam enganá-los.
27 But that anointing which ye receiued of him, dwelleth in you: and ye neede not that any man teach you: but as the same Anoynting teacheth you of all things, and it is true, and is not lying, and as it taught you, ye shall abide in him.
27 Vocês, porém, receberam dele a unção, e ela permanece em vocês, de modo que não precisam que alguém lhes ensine a verdade. Pois o que a unção lhes ensina é verdade, e não mentira, e é tudo que precisam saber. Portanto, como lhes ensinou a unção, permaneçam nele.
28 And nowe, litle children, abide in him, that when he shall appeare, we may be bolde, and not be ashamed before him at his comming.
28 Agora, filhinhos, permaneçam nele para que, quando ele voltar, estejamos confiantes e não nos afastemos dele, envergonhados.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, know ye that he which doeth righteously, is borne of him.
29 Porque sabemos que ele é justo, também sabemos que todo o que pratica a justiça é nascido de Deus.
