1 But speak thou that which becometh sound doctrine,
1 Mas, quanto a você, que suas palavras reflitam o ensino verdadeiro.
2 and teach, That the elders be watchful in their minds, and be chaste and pure, and sound in the faith, and in charity, and in patience.
2 Os homens mais velhos devem exercitar o autocontrole, a fim de que sejam dignos de respeito e vivam com sabedoria. Devem ter uma fé sólida e ser cheios de amor e paciência.
3 And so also the aged women, that they be in behaviour what becometh the fear of Aloha, and not slanderers, nor enslaved to much wine, and that they teach good things;
3 Semelhantemente, as mulheres mais velhas devem viver de modo digno. Não devem ser caluniadoras, nem beber vinho em excesso; antes, devem ensinar o que é bom.
4 making those who are young modest, to love their husbands and their children,
4 Devem instruir as mulheres mais jovens a amar o marido e os filhos,
5 and to be chaste and holy, well mindful of their houses, and submissive to their husbands, that no man blaspheme the word of Aloha.
5 a viver com sabedoria e pureza, a trabalhar no lar, a fazer o bem e a ser submissas ao marido. Assim, não envergonharão a palavra de Deus.
6 And of those who are young men, likewise, require that they be chaste.
6 Da mesma forma, incentive os homens mais jovens a viver com sabedoria.
7 But in every thing show thyself the example in all good works, and in doctrine let there be with thee sound speech which is sincere and incorrupt,
7 Você mesmo deve ser exemplo da prática de boas obras. Tudo que fizer deve refletir a integridade e a seriedade de seu ensino.
8 and which no man will despise, that he who riseth against us may be ashamed when he cannot say any thing hateful against us.
8 Sua mensagem deve ser tão correta a ponto de ninguém a criticar. Então os que se opõem a nós ficarão envergonhados e nada terão de ruim para dizer a nosso respeito.
9 Let servants to their masters be submissive in every thing, and please them, not contradicting,
9 Quanto aos escravos, devem sempre obedecer a seu senhor e fazer todo o possível para agradá-lo. Não devem ser respondões,
10 nor pilfering; but let them show their good-trustiness in every thing, that they may adorn in every thing the doctrine of Aloha our Saviour.
10 nem roubar, mas devem mostrar-se bons e inteiramente dignos de confiança. Assim, tornarão atraente em todos os sentidos o ensino a respeito de Deus, nosso Salvador.
11 FOR the all-saving grace of Aloha hath appeared to all men,
11 Pois a graça de Deus foi revelada e a todos traz salvação.
12 and teacheth us to deny wickedness and the lusts of the world, and to live in this world in purity, and in rectitude, and in the fear of Aloha,
12 Somos instruídos a abandonar o estilo de vida ímpio e os prazeres pecaminosos. Neste mundo perverso, devemos viver com sabedoria, justiça e devoção,
13 while expecting the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jeshu Meshiha;
13 enquanto aguardamos esperançosamente o dia em que será revelada a glória de nosso grande Deus e Salvador, Jesus Cristo.
14 who gave himself for us, to redeem us from all iniquity, and to cleanse unto himself a new people, who are zealous of good works.
14 Ele entregou sua vida para nos libertar de todo pecado, para nos purificar e fazer de nós seu povo, inteiramente dedicado às boas obras.
15 These speak, and require, and maintain with all authority, and no man shall despise thee.
15 Ensine essas coisas e encoraje os irmãos a praticá-las. Corrija-os com autoridade. Não deixe que ignorem o que você diz.
