Atos 17
The Peschito Syriac New Testament (ETHERIDGE) vs NTLH
1 and passed by Amphipolis and Apolonia, cities, and came to Thessalonika, where was a synagogue of the Jihudoyee.
1 Paulo e Silas passaram pelas cidades de Anfípolis e Apolônia e chegaram a Tessalônica, onde havia uma sinagoga .
2 AND Paulos entered, as his custom was, with them, and three shabaths spoke to them from the scriptures,
2 Conforme o seu costume, Paulo foi lá e nos três sábados seguintes falou sobre as Escrituras Sagradas com as pessoas que estavam ali na sinagoga.
3 expounding, and showing, That Meshiha was to suffer and to rise from the house of the dead, and he is Jeshu the Meshiha whom I preach to you.
3 Paulo lhes explicava e provava que o Messias precisava sofrer e que, depois de morrer, tinha de ressuscitar. Ele dizia: — Este Jesus que estou anunciando a vocês é o Messias.
4 And men of them believed and adhered to Paulos and Shilo, and many of the Javnoyee who feared Aloha, and distinguished women not a few.
4 Paulo e Silas conseguiram convencer disso algumas daquelas pessoas, as quais se juntaram a eles. Um grande número de não judeus convertidos ao Judaísmo e muitas senhoras da alta sociedade também se juntaram ao grupo.
5 And the Jihudoyee envied, and joined to them evil men from the public place of the city, and made a great multitude, and conturbed the city. And they came and stood at the house of Jason, and demanded that they should bring them out from thence and deliver them to the multitude.
5 Mas os judeus ficaram com inveja. Eles foram buscar alguns homens maus entre os malandros das ruas e formaram um grupo de desordeiros. Estes fizeram muita confusão na cidade e atacaram a casa de Jasão, procurando Paulo e Silas a fim de os levar para o meio do povo.
6 And when they could not find them there, they drew Jason and the brethren who were there, and brought them to the chiefs of the city, crying, These are they who have troubled the whole land; and behold again have they come here;
6 Mas, como não os encontraram, levaram à força Jasão e alguns outros irmãos até a presença das autoridades da cidade, gritando: — Aqueles homens têm provocado desordens em todos os lugares! Agora chegaram até a nossa cidade,
7 and their receiver is this Jason; and all these against the commands of Cesar are risen, in saying that there is another king, Jeshu.
7 e Jasão os hospedou na casa dele. Eles estão desobedecendo às leis do Imperador romano, dizendo que existe outro rei, chamado Jesus.
8 And the chiefs of the city and all the people were troubled when they heard these things;
8 Tanto a multidão como as autoridades ficaram agitadas quando ouviram essas palavras.
9 and they took pledges from Jason and also from the brethren, and then dismissed them.
9 E as autoridades soltaram Jasão e os outros, depois que eles pagaram a quantia exigida para isso.
10 But the brethren immediately in that night dismissed Paulos and Shilo unto Beroa the city; and when they were come thither they entered into the synagogue of the Jihudoyee:
10 Logo que anoiteceu, os irmãos enviaram Paulo e Silas para a cidade de Bereia. Quando chegaram lá, eles foram à sinagoga .
11 for more noble were those Jihudoyee who were there than those Jihudoyee who were in Thessalonika; and they heard from them the word daily with joy, while they decided from the scriptures whether these things were so.
11 As pessoas dali eram mais bem-educadas do que as de Tessalônica e ouviam a mensagem com muito interesse. Todos os dias estudavam as Escrituras Sagradas para saber se o que Paulo dizia era mesmo verdade.
12 And many of them believed, and so also of the Javnoyee, men many, and distinguished women.
12 Assim muitos judeus naquela cidade creram, e também não judeus, tanto mulheres da alta sociedade como também muitos homens.
13 And when those Jihudoyee who were of Thessalonika knew that the word of Aloha was preached by Paulos in Beroa the city, they came there also, and ceased not to move and trouble the people.
13 Mas, quando os judeus de Tessalônica souberam que Paulo tinha anunciado a palavra de Deus também em Bereia, foram até lá e começaram a agitar e atiçar o povo contra eles.
14 And the brethren dismissed Paulos that he should go down by sea; and Shilo and Timotheos remained in that city.
14 Então os irmãos enviaram Paulo imediatamente para o litoral; porém Silas e Timóteo ficaram em Bereia.
15 AND they who accompanied Paulos came unto Athinos the city; and when they departed from the midst of it they took from him an epistle to Shilo and Timotheos, that they should speedily come to him.
15 Os irmãos que protegiam Paulo o levaram até a cidade de Atenas. Depois voltaram para Bereia, levando um recado de Paulo; ele pedia que Silas e Timóteo fossem encontrá-lo em Atenas o mais depressa possível.
16 But he, Paulos, while he waited in Athinos, was embittered in his spirit, (for he) saw how the whole city was filled with idols.
16 Enquanto estava esperando Silas e Timóteo em Atenas, Paulo ficou revoltado ao ver a cidade tão cheia de ídolos.
17 And he spake in the synagogue with the Jihudoyee, and with those who worshipped Aloha, and in the public place with those who met there daily;
17 Ele ia para a sinagoga e ali falava com os judeus e com os não judeus convertidos ao Judaísmo. E todos os dias, na praça pública, ele falava com as pessoas que se encontravam ali.
18 and the philosophers also who were of the doctrine of Epikuros, and others who were called Estoiku, disputed with him. And some of them said, What willeth this accumulator of words? And others said, He preaches foreign gods; because Jeshu and his resurrection he preached unto them.
18 Alguns professores epicureus e alguns estoicos discutiam com ele e perguntavam: — O que é que esse ignorante está querendo dizer? Outros comentavam: — Parece que ele está falando de deuses estrangeiros. Diziam isso porque Paulo estava anunciando Jesus e a ressurreição .
19 And they took him and brought him to the house of judgment which is called Arios-pagos, saying to him, Can we know what this new doctrine is which thou art preaching?
19 Então eles o levaram a uma reunião da Câmara Municipal e disseram: — Gostaríamos de saber que novo ensinamento é esse que você está trazendo para nós.
20 for thou sowest foreign words in our hearing, and we desire to know what these things are.
20 Pois você diz algumas coisas que nos parecem esquisitas, e nós gostaríamos de saber o que elas querem dizer.
21 But all the Athinoyee, and those foreigners who are there, of no other thing are careful, but to say and to hear something new.
21 É que todos os moradores de Atenas e os estrangeiros que viviam ali gostavam de passar o tempo contando e ouvindo as últimas novidades.
22 AND as Paulos stood on Arios-pagos he said, Men of Athinos, I observe you that in all (things) you exceed in the worship of demons.
22 Então Paulo ficou de pé diante deles, na reunião da Câmara Municipal, e disse: — Atenienses! Vejo que em todas as coisas vocês são muito religiosos.
23 As I walked about and saw the place of your worship, I found a certain altar on which was inscribed, To GOD THE HIDDEN: him then whom while not known you worship, This I declare to you.
23 De fato, quando eu estava andando pela cidade e olhava os lugares onde vocês adoram os seus deuses, encontrei um altar em que está escrito: “ Ao Deus Desconhecido ”. Pois esse Deus que vocês adoram sem conhecer é justamente aquele que eu estou anunciando a vocês.
24 For ALOHA who made the world and all that is in it, and is himself the Lord of heaven and of earth, in temples made with hands resideth not.
24 — Deus, que fez o mundo e tudo o que nele existe, é o Senhor do céu e da terra e não mora em templos feitos por seres humanos.
25 Neither is he served by the hands of men, nor needeth he any thing, for it is he who giveth to every man life and soul.
25 E também não precisa que façam nada por ele, pois é ele mesmo quem dá a todos vida, respiração e tudo mais.
26 And of one blood hath he made the whole world of men to dwell upon the face of all the earth, and he hath distinguished the times by his decree, and set the limits of the dwelling of mankind,
26 De um só homem ele criou todas as raças humanas para viverem na terra. Antes de criar os povos, Deus marcou para eles os lugares onde iriam morar e quanto tempo ficariam lá.
27 that they should seek Aloha and inquire, and from his creatures find himself, because he is not far from every one of us.
27 Ele fez isso para que todos pudessem procurá-lo e talvez encontrá-lo, embora ele não esteja longe de cada um de nós.
28 For in him we live, and are moved, and are; as also one of your sages hath said, From him is our descent.
28 Porque, como alguém disse: “Nele vivemos, nos movemos e existimos.” E alguns dos poetas de vocês disseram: “Nós também somos filhos dele.”
29 Men, therefore, whose descent is from Aloha, should not think that gold or silver or stone sculptured by the art and skill of man is like the Divinity.
29 E, já que somos filhos dele, não devemos pensar que Deus é parecido com um ídolo de ouro, de prata ou de pedra, feito pela arte e habilidade das pessoas.
30 For the times of error Aloha hath made to pass away; and in this time he commandeth all men, that every man in every place should repent;
30 No passado Deus não levou em conta essa ignorância. Mas agora ele manda que todas as pessoas, em todos os lugares, se arrependam dos seus pecados.
31 because he hath set a day in which he will judge the whole earth in righteousness by that Man whom he hath ordained; and he will convert every man to the faith of him in having raised him from among the dead.
31 Pois ele marcou o dia em que vai julgar o mundo com justiça, por meio de um homem que escolheu. E deu prova disso a todos quando ressuscitou esse homem.
32 And when they heard of resurrection from among the dead, (some) of them mocked, and (some) of them said, At another time we will hear thee concerning this.
32 Quando ouviram Paulo falar a respeito de ressurreição, alguns zombaram dele, mas outros disseram: — Em outra ocasião queremos ouvir você falar sobre este assunto.
33 And so Paulos went forth from among them.
33 Então Paulo foi embora dali.
34 And certain of them adhered to him and believed: but one of them was Dionosios of the judges of Arios-pagos, and a certain woman whose name was Damaris, and others with them.
34 Mas algumas pessoas creram e se juntaram a ele. Entre essas estavam Dionísio, que era membro da Câmara Municipal, uma mulher chamada Dâmaris e mais outras pessoas.
