1 BUT we make known to you, my brethren, the grace of Aloha which hath been given to the churches of Makedunia;
1 Irmãos, queremos que vocês saibam o que a graça de Deus tem feito nas igrejas da província da Macedônia.
2 that in the great trial of their affliction there hath been an abounding of their joy; and the depth of their poverty hath been exceeded by the riches of their simplicity.
2 Os irmãos dali têm sido muito provados pelas aflições por que têm passado. Mas a alegria deles foi tanta, que, embora sendo muito pobres, eles deram ofertas com grande generosidade.
3 For I testify, that according to their power, and more than their power, in the willingness of their soul,
3 Afirmo a vocês que eles fizeram tudo o que podiam e mais ainda. E, com toda a boa vontade,
4 they besought of us, with much supplication, that they might participate in the beneficence of the ministry for the saints.
4 pediram com insistência que os deixássemos participar da ajuda para o povo de Deus da Judeia e eles insistiram nisso.
5 And not as we had supposed, but they gave themselves up first to the Lord, and also to us by the will of Aloha.
5 E fizeram muito mais do que esperávamos. Primeiro, eles deram a si mesmos ao Senhor e depois, pela vontade de Deus, eles se deram a nós também.
6 For we would request of Titos, that as he had begun, so he would carry into accomplishment this beneficence among you also.
6 De modo que pedimos a Tito, que começou a recolher essas ofertas, que continuasse e ajudasse vocês a completarem esse serviço especial de amor.
7 But as you have excelled in every thing, in faith, and in doctrine, and in knowledge, and in all diligence, and in our love toward you, so also in this beneficence may you excel.
7 Vocês mostram que, em tudo, são mais ricos do que os outros: na fé, na palavra, no conhecimento, na vontade de ajudar os outros e no nosso amor por vocês. E nesse novo serviço de amor queremos também que façam mais do que os outros.
8 Not as though commanding I command you, but, from the diligence of your companions, the truth of your love would I put to the test.
8 Não estou querendo mandar em vocês. O que eu estou querendo é que conheçam o entusiasmo com que as igrejas da Macedônia deram ofertas, para que assim vocês vejam se o amor de vocês é verdadeiro ou não.
9 FOR you know the beneficence of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, that for your sake he became poor, though he was rich, that you through his poverty might be enriched.
9 Porque vocês já conhecem o grande amor do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo: ele era rico, mas, por amor a vocês, ele se tornou pobre a fim de que vocês se tornassem ricos por meio da pobreza dele.
10 But counselling I counsel you this which helpeth you; because from the last year you began not to will only, but also to do.
10 Minha opinião sobre o assunto é esta: é melhor para vocês que terminem agora o que começaram no ano passado. Vocês foram os primeiros não somente a ajudar, mas também a querer ajudar.
11 But now accomplish in work that which you willed, that as there hath been an incitement to will, so accomplish it in work from what you have.
11 Portanto, continuem e completem o trabalho. Façam isso com o mesmo entusiasmo que tiveram no princípio, dando de acordo com o que têm.
12 For if there be the will, according to what one hath, so is (he) accepted, and not according to what he hath not.
12 Porque, se alguém quer dar, Deus aceita a oferta conforme o que a pessoa tem. Deus não pede o que a pessoa não tem.
13 Neither must there be to others ease, and to you anxiety,
13 — ausente —
14 but in equality be you at this time; that your abundance may be a supply to their want, that also their abundance may be for to your want, that there may be equality.
14 — ausente —
15 As it is written, He who took up much had no superfluity, and he who took up little was not deficient.
15 Como dizem as Escrituras Sagradas : “Ao que muito pegou, nada sobrou; ao que pouco pegou, nada faltou.”
16 But praise to Aloha who in-gave this solicitude for you to the heart of Titos.
16 Agradecemos muito a Deus porque pôs no coração de Tito o mesmo desejo que nós temos de ajudar vocês.
17 For our request he accepted; and because he had great concern, of his own will he hath come forth among you.
17 Ele aceitou o nosso pedido e, como quer ajudá-los, resolveu ir com toda a boa vontade encontrar-se com vocês.
18 But we have sent with him our brother, whose praise in the gospel is in all the churches;
18 Junto com ele estamos enviando o irmão que é muito respeitado em todas as igrejas pelo seu trabalho de anunciar o evangelho .
19 who hath, moreover, been chosen by the churches to go forth with us with this bounty which is ministered by us to the glory of Aloha himself, and unto our cordiality.
19 Além disso esse irmão foi escolhido e indicado pelas igrejas para viajar conosco a fim de nos ajudar nesse serviço de amor que fazemos para a glória do Senhor e também para mostrar que, de fato, queremos ajudar.
20 For we are precautious in this, that no one should lay upon us any imputation
20 Queremos evitar assim que outros nos critiquem por causa da maneira pela qual estamos recolhendo essa grande oferta.
21 with regard to this great bounty which is to be administered by us. For we are careful for the things which are comely, not only before Aloha, but also before men.
21 A nossa vontade é fazer aquilo que tanto o Senhor como as pessoas acham certo.
22 But we have also sent with them our brother, whom we have often proved in many to be diligent; but now still more diligent from the great confidence he hath concerning you.
22 Com eles, estamos enviando outro irmão nosso. Muitas vezes o pusemos à prova e assim sabemos que ele está sempre pronto para ajudar. E, agora que ele tem tanta confiança em vocês, está com muito mais vontade ainda de auxiliar.
23 Whether, then, (you regard) Titos, he is my companion and helper among you, or the other brethren, they are the apostles of the churches of the glory of Meshiha.
23 A respeito de Tito afirmo que ele é meu companheiro de trabalho na ajuda que dou a vocês. E, quanto aos outros irmãos que vão com ele, são representantes das igrejas e trazem glória para Cristo.
24 Wherefore the demonstration of your love, and of our boasting concerning you in these, make manifest in the sight of all the churches.
24 Por isso, para que as outras igrejas fiquem sabendo, mostrem a esses irmãos que vocês os amam e que nós temos razão de elogiar vocês.
