1 BUT I Paulos beseech of you by the peacefulness and humility of the Meshiha, (I) who also in presence am humble with you, but while far off am confident over you,
1 Ora, eu mesmo, Paulo, vos rogo, pela mansidão e suavidade de Cristo, eu que, quando presente, sou humilde entre vós, mas estando ausente, sou ousado para convosco;
2 beseech of you, that when I come I may not be constrained with the confidence I have to be bold, as I think, over those men who imagine that we walk in the flesh.
2 rogo-vos, pois, para que não seja necessário ser ousado quando presente, com a confiança na qual penso ser ousado com alguns, que nos julgam, como se andássemos segundo a carne.
3 For if we walk in the flesh, yet we war not according to the flesh.
3 Porque, embora andando na carne, não guerreamos segundo a carne;
4 For the armour of our warfare is not of the flesh, but of the power of Aloha; and by it we cast down the strong-holds of rebels,
4 (porque as armas da nossa milícia não são carnais, mas poderosas em Deus para a destruição das fortalezas);
5 and demolish reasonings and every lofty thing that is exalted against the knowledge of Aloha, and captivate all thoughts unto the obedience of the Meshiha.
5 destruindo imaginações, e toda a altivez que se exalta contra o conhecimento de Deus, e levando cativo todo o pensamento à obediência de Cristo;
6 And we are prepared to execute the punishment of those who obey not, when your obedience shall be fulfilled.
6 e estando prontos para vingar toda a desobediência, quando a vossa obediência for cumprida.
7 Do we regard persons? If any man confide in himself that he is of the Meshiha, let this one know of himself, that as he is of the Meshiha, so also are we.
7 Olhais para as coisas segundo a aparência exterior? Se algum homem confia em si mesmo que ele é de Cristo, pense isto por si mesmo outra vez, que, assim como ele é de Cristo, também nós somos de Cristo.
8 For if I should boast somewhat more of the authority which our Lord hath given me, I should not blush; because for your edification he gave it to me, and not for your destruction.
8 Porque, embora eu me glorie um pouco mais de nossa autoridade, a qual o Senhor nos deu para edificação, e não para vossa destruição, eu não me envergonharei;
9 But I insist not, that I may not be considered as one who would terrify you by my epistles.
9 Para que eu não possa parecer como se eu vos aterrorizasse por cartas.
10 For there are men who say, His epistles are weighty and forcible; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.
10 Porque as suas cartas, eles dizem, são pesadas e poderosas, mas a su a presença do corpo é fraca, e o seu discurso desprezível.
11 But he who after this manner speaks, shall conclude that what we are by the word of our epistle when absent, so are we in the deed when we are present.
11 Considere o tal isto, que, assim como somos na palavra por cartas, quando estamos ausentes, tais também seremos em ações, quando estivermos presentes.
12 For we dare not value or compare ourselves with those who glorify themselves; but because they compare themselves with themselves, they do not understand.
12 Porque não ousamos contar-nos, ou comparar-nos com alguns que se recomendam a si mesmos; mas estes que se medem a si mesmos, e se comparam consigo mesmos, não são sábios.
13 For we do not boast beyond our measure, but in the measure of the boundary which Aloha hath apportioned to us, that we might come also unto you.
13 Porém, não nos gloriaremos das coisas além da nossa medida, mas conforme a medida da regra que Deus nos distribuiu, uma medida para vos alcançarmos;
14 For it is not as not reaching to you we extend ourselves; for unto you we come with the gospel of the Meshiha.
14 porque não nos estendemos além da nossa medida, como se não houvéssemos de alcançar-vos, pois também chegamos até vós na pregação do evangelho de Cristo,
15 Neither boast we beyond our measure in the labour of others; but we have hope, that with the increase of your faith, we shall be enlarged according to our measure;
15 não nos gloriando das coisas fora da nossa medida, isto é, nos trabalhos de outros homens; antes tendo esperança de que, quando a vossa fé for aumentada, seremos engrandecidos abundantemente entre vós, conforme a nossa regra,
16 and be progressive also beyond you to evangelize. Not as within the measure of others in the things that are prepared will we glory.
16 para pregar o evangelho nas regiões além de vós, e não para vos gloriardes de coisas na área de outros, que já estavam preparadas.
17 But let him who glorieth glory in the Lord.
17 Porém, aquele que se gloria, glorie-se no Senhor.
18 For it is not he who glorifieth himself who is approved, but he who is glorified of the Lord.
18 Porque não é aprovado aquele que se recomenda a si mesmo, mas aquele a quem o Senhor recomenda.
