1 My sons, these write I to you, that you sin not. And if a man shall sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jeshu Meshiha, the Just;
1 Filhinhos meus, isto vos escrevo para que não pequeis. Mas, se alguém pecar, temos um intercessor junto ao Pai, Jesus Cristo, o Justo.
2 for he is the propitiation for our sins, and not on behalf of ours only, but also on behalf of the whole world.
2 Ele é a expiação pelos nossos pecados, e não somente pelos nossos, mas também pelos de todo o mundo.
3 And by this we feel that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
3 Eis como sabemos que o conhecemos: se guardamos os seus mandamentos.
4 For he who saith that he knoweth him, and his commandments keepeth not, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
4 Aquele que diz conhecê-lo e não guarda os seus mandamentos é mentiroso e a verdade não está nele.
5 But he who keepeth his word, in him is perfected truly the love of Aloha; for by this we know that we are in him.
5 Aquele, porém, que guarda a sua palavra, nele o amor de Deus é verdadeiramente perfeito. É assim que conhecemos se estamos nele:
6 He who saith, I am in him, ought according to his walkings to walk.
6 aquele que afirma permanecer nele deve também viver como ele viveu.
7 MY beloved, a new commandment I write not to you, but the old commandment, that which was with you from the beginning; but the old commandment is the word which you have heard.
7 Caríssimos, não vos escrevo nenhum mandamento novo, mas sim o mandamento antigo, que recebestes desde o princípio. Este mandamento antigo é a palavra que acabais de ouvir.
8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, that which is true in him and in you; because the darkness hath passed, and the true light beginneth to appear.
8 Todavia, eu vos escrevo agora um mandamento novo - verdadeiramente novo, nele como em vós, porque as trevas passam e já resplandece a verdadeira luz.
9 Whoever saith, then, that he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness until now.
9 Aquele que diz estar na luz, e odeia seu irmão, jaz ainda nas trevas.
10 He who loveth his brother, in the light abideth, and offence is not in him.
10 Quem ama seu irmão permanece na luz e não se expõe a tropeçar.
11 He who hateth his brother is in darkness, and in the darkness walketh, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness itself hath blinded his eyes.
11 Mas quem odeia seu irmão está nas trevas e anda nas trevas, sem saber para onde dirige os passos; as trevas cegaram seus olhos.
12 I write to you, sons, because forgiven to you are your sins for the sake of his name.
12 Filhinhos, eu vos escrevo, porque vossos pecados vos foram perdoados pelo seu nome.
13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who hath been from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked. I have written to you, children, because you have known the Father.
13 Pais, eu vos escrevo, porque conheceis aquele que existe desde o princípio. Jovens, eu vos escrevo, porque vencestes o Maligno.
14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who (hath been) from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of Aloha remaineth in you, and you have overcome the wicked.
14 Crianças, eu vos escrevo, porque conheceis o Pai. Pais, eu vos escrevi, porque conheceis aquele que existe desde o princípio. Jovens, eu vos escrevi, porque sois fortes e a palavra de Deus permanece em vós, e vencestes o Maligno.
15 Love not the world, nor any thing which is in it; for whoever loveth the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
15 Não ameis o mundo nem as coisas do mundo. Se alguém ama o mundo, não está nele o amor do Pai.
16 For every thing that is in the world, is the lust of the body, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of the world. These which are not of the Father, but they are from the world itself.
16 Porque tudo o que há no mundo - a concupiscência da carne, a concupiscência dos olhos e a soberba da vida - não procede do Pai, mas do mundo.
17 And the world passeth, (both) it and its lusts; but he who doeth the will of Aloha, continueth for ever.
17 O mundo passa com as suas concupiscências, mas quem cumpre a vontade de Deus permanece eternamente.
18 my sons, it is the last time: and as you have heard, the false meshiha cometh; and now there are many false meshihas, and from this we know that it is the last time.
18 Filhinhos, esta é a última hora. Vós ouvistes dizer que o Anticristo vem. Eis que já há muitos anticristos, por isto conhecemos que é a última hora.
19 From us they went forth, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, with us would they have remained. But they went forth from us, that it might be known that they were not of us.
19 Eles saíram dentre nós, mas não eram dos nossos. Se tivessem sido dos nossos, ficariam certamente conosco. Mas isto se dá para que se conheça que nem todos são dos nossos.
20 And you have an anointing from the Holy, and you discern every man.
20 Vós, porém, tendes a unção do Santo e sabeis todas as coisas.
21 I have not written to you because you know not the truth, but you know it, and that no lie is of it, of the truth.
21 Não vos escrevi como se ignorásseis a verdade, mas porque a conheceis, e porque nenhuma mentira vem da verdade.
22 Who is a liar, if not he who denieth that Jeshu is the Meshiha? and this (one) is a false meshiha. He who denieth the Father, denieth also the Son;
22 Quem é mentiroso senão aquele que nega que Jesus é o Cristo? Esse é o Anticristo, que nega o Pai e o Filho.
23 and he who denieth the Son, disbelieveth also the Father. Whoso confesseth the Son, the Father also confesseth.
23 Todo aquele que nega o Filho não tem o Pai. Todo aquele que proclama o Filho tem também o Pai.
24 And you, what you have heard from the first, let it continue with you. For, if what you have heard from the first continue with you, you also will continue in the Father and in the Son.
24 Que permaneça em vós o que tendes ouvido desde o princípio. Se permanecer em vós o que ouvistes desde o princípio, permanecereis também vós no Filho e no Pai.
25 And this is the promise which he promised to us, eternal life.
25 Eis a promessa que ele nos fez: a vida eterna.
26 But these I have written to you, because of those who would seduce you.
26 Era isto o que eu vos tinha a escrever a respeito dos que vos seduzem.
27 And you, also, if the anointing continue with you which you have received from him, have not need that a man should teach you; but as the anointing that is from Aloha itself teacheth you concerning every thing, and is true, neither is falsity in it; and as it hath taught you, continue in it.
27 Quanto a vós, a unção que dele recebestes permanece em vós. E não tendes necessidade de que alguém vos ensine; mas, como a sua unção vos ensina todas as coisas, assim é ela verdadeira e não mentira. Permanecei nele, como ela vos ensinou.
28 And now, my sons, continue in him: that when he is manifested we may not he confounded of him, but we may have confidence at his coming.
28 E agora, filhinhos, permanecei nele, para que, quando aparecer, tenhamos confiança e não sejamos confundidos por ele, na sua vinda.
29 If you know that he is righteous, know also that every one who doeth righteousness is of him.
29 Se sabeis que ele é justo, sabei também que todo aquele que pratica a justiça é nascido dele.
