1 Forsooth the days of David nighed, that he should die; and he commanded to Solomon, his son, and said,
1 E aproximaram-se os dias da morte de Davi; e deu ele ordem a Salomão, seu filho, dizendo:
2 Lo! I enter into the way of all (the) earth; be thou strengthened (or take thou courage), and be thou a strong man.
2 Eu vou pelo caminho de toda a terra; esforça-te, pois, e sê homem.
3 And keep thou the keepings and the behests of thy Lord God, that thou go in his ways, and keep his ceremonies, and his behests, and his dooms, and (his) witnessings, as it is written in the law of Moses; that thou understand all things which thou doest, and whither ever thou shalt turn thee. (And obey thou the orders and the commands of the Lord thy God, so that thou go in his ways, and keep his statutes, and his commands, and his laws, \+em or his judgements\+em*, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses; so that thou understand all the things that thou doest, and wherever thou shalt turn thyself.)
3 E guarda a ordenança do Senhor teu Deus, para andares nos seus caminhos, e para guardares os seus estatutos, e os seus mandamentos, e os seus juízos, e os seus testemunhos, como está escrito na lei de Moisés; para que prosperes em tudo quanto fizeres, e para onde quer que fores.
4 That the Lord confirm his words, which the Lord spake of me, and said, If thy sons keep my ways, and go before me in truth, in all their heart, and in all their soul, a man shall not be taken away of thee from the throne of Israel. (So that the Lord shall establish his words, which the Lord spoke about me, saying, If thy sons follow my ways, and go before me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, a man of thee shall not be taken away from the throne of Israel.)
4 Para que o Senhor confirme a palavra, que falou de mim, dizendo: Se teus filhos guardarem o seu caminho, para andarem perante a minha face fielmente, com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, nunca, disse, te faltará sucessor ao trono de Israel.
5 Also thou knowest what things Joab, the son of Zeruiah, did to me; (and) what things he did to [the] two princes of the host of Israel, to Abner, the son of Ner, and to Amasa, the son of Jether, which he killed, and shedded the blood of battle in peace; and putted the blood of battle in his girdle, that was about his loins, and in his shoe(s), that was in his feet, (or and put the blood of battle upon his girdle, that was about his loins, and in his shoes, that were upon his feet).
5 E também tu sabes o que me fez Joabe, filho de Zeruia, e o que fez aos dois capitães do exército de Israel, a Abner filho de Ner, e a Amasa, filho de Jeter, os quais matou, e em paz derramou o sangue de guerra, e pôs o sangue de guerra no cinto que tinha nos lombos, e nos sapatos que trazia nos pés.
6 Therefore thou shalt do by thy wisdom, and thou shalt not lead forth his hoariness peaceably to hells, either \+sls (the)\+sls* sepulchre. (And so do thou by thy wisdom, and do not let his hoar hairs go down peacefully to Sheol, \+em or into the grave, or into the tomb\+em*.)
6 Faze, pois, segundo a tua sabedoria, e não permitas que suas cãs desçam à sepultura em paz.
7 But also thou shalt yield grace to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead, and they shall be eating in thy board (or and they shall eat at thy table); for they met me, when I fled from the face of Absalom, thy brother.
7 Porém com os filhos de Barzilai, o gileadita, usarás de beneficência, e estarão entre os que comem à tua mesa, porque assim se chegaram eles a mim, quando eu fugia por causa de teu irmão Absalão.
8 Also thou hast with thee Shimei, the son of Gera, the son of Benjamin, of Bahurim, the which Shimei cursed me by the worst cursing, when I went to the defensible places; but for-thy he came down to me into my meeting, when I passed (the) Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, and said, I shall not slay thee with sword, (Also thou hast with thee Shimei, the son of Gera, the son of Benjamin, of Bahurim, the which Shimei cursed me by the worst cursing, when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me when I crossed over the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the Lord, and said, I shall not kill thee with the sword,)
8 E eis que também contigo está Simei, filho de Gera, filho de Benjamim, de Baurim, que me maldisse com maldição atroz, no dia em que ia a Maanaim; porém ele saiu a encontrar-se comigo junto ao Jordão, e eu pelo Senhor lhe jurei, dizendo que o não mataria à espada.
9 do not thou suffer him to be unpunished; forsooth thou art a wise man, and thou shalt know what thou shalt do to him, and thou shalt lead forth his hoar hairs with blood to hells. (but now do not thou allow him to go unpunished; thou art a wise man, and thou knowest what thou shalt do to him, \+em and that is\+em*, thou shalt lead forth his hoar hairs in blood down to Sheol, \+em or into the grave\+em*!)
9 Mas agora não o tenhas por inculpável, pois és homem sábio, e bem saberás o que lhe hás de fazer para que faças com que as suas cãs desçam à sepultura com sangue.
10 And (then) David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
10 E Davi dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi.
11 And the days, in which David reigned upon Israel, be forty years; in Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem three and thirty years.
11 E foram os dias que Davi reinou sobre Israel quarenta anos: sete anos reinou em Hebrom, e em Jerusalém reinou trinta e três anos.
12 Forsooth Solomon sat upon the throne of David, his father, and his realm was made steadfast greatly (or and his reign was firmly established).
12 E Salomão se assentou no trono de Davi, seu pai, e o seu reino se fortificou sobremaneira.
13 And Adonijah, the son of Haggith, entered to Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon; and she said to him, Whether thine entering is peaceable? And he answered, It is peaceable, (or and she said to him, Cometh thou here in peace? And he answered, I have come in peace).
13 Então veio Adonias, filho de Hagite, a Bate-Seba, mãe de Salomão; e disse ela: De paz é a tua vinda? E ele disse: É de paz.
14 And he added, A word of me is to thee, (or And he added, I have a word to say to thee). And she said, Speak thou.
14 Então disse ele: Uma palavra tenho que dizer-te. E ela disse: Fala.
15 And he said, Thou knowest that the realm was mine, and all Israel purposed to make me into king to them; but the realm is translated, and is made my brother’s ; for of the Lord it is ordained to him. (And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and all Israel purposed to make me king over them; but the kingdom was taken away\+em from me\+em*, and made my brother’s ; for the Lord ordained it to him.)
15 Disse, pois, ele: Bem sabes que o reino era meu, e todo o Israel tinha posto a vista em mim para que eu viesse a reinar, contudo o reino foi transferido e veio a ser de meu irmão, porque foi feito seu pelo Senhor.
16 Now therefore I pray of thee one asking; shame thou not my face. And she said to him, Speak thou.
16 Assim que agora uma só petição te faço; não ma rejeites. E ela lhe disse: Fala.
17 And he said, I pray, that thou say to Solomon the king; for he may not deny anything to thee; that he give me Abishag of Shunem to wife (or that he give me Abishag of Shunem for a wife).
17 E ele disse: Peço-te que fales ao rei Salomão (porque ele não te rejeitará) que me dê por mulher a Abisague, a sunamita.
18 And Bathsheba said, Well, I shall speak for thee to the king.
18 E disse Bate-Seba: Bem, eu falarei por ti ao rei.
19 Therefore Bathsheba came to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah; and the king rose against the coming of her, and worshipped her, and sat on his throne; and a throne was set to the mother of the king, and she sat at his right side. (And so Bathsheba went to King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah; and the king rose up to greet her, and honoured her, and then sat down on his throne; and a throne was put in place for the king’s mother, and she sat at his right side.)
19 Assim foi Bate-Seba ao rei Salomão, a falar-lhe por Adonias; e o rei se levantou a encontrar-se com ela, e se inclinou diante dela; então se assentou no seu trono, e fez pôr uma cadeira para a sua mãe, e ela se assentou à sua direita.
20 And she said to him, I pray of thee one little asking; shame thou not my face. And the king said to her, My mother, ask thou; for it is not leaveful that I turn away thy face (or for it would not be right for me to refuse thee).
20 Então disse ela: Só uma pequena petição te faço; não ma rejeites. E o rei lhe disse: Pede, minha mãe, porque não ta negarei.
21 And she said, (Let) Abishag of Shunem be given (for a) wife to Adonijah, thy brother.
21 E ela disse: Dê-se Abisague, a sunamita, a Adonias, teu irmão, por mulher.
22 And king Solomon answered, and said to his mother, Why askest thou (only for) Abishag of Shunem to Adonijah? Ask thou to him also the realm, (or Why askest thou only for Abishag of Shunem for Adonijah? Why not ask thou also for the kingdom for him?); certainly he is mine elder brother, and he hath Abiathar, (the) priest, and Joab, the son of Zeruiah.
22 Então respondeu o rei Salomão, e disse a sua mãe: E por que pedes a Abisague, a sunamita, para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino (porque é meu irmão maior), para ele, digo, e também para Abiatar, sacerdote, e para Joabe, filho de Zeruia.
23 Therefore king Solomon swore by the Lord, and said, God do to me these things, and add these things too, for Adonijah hath spoken this word against his (own) life.
23 E jurou o rei Salomão pelo Senhor, dizendo: Assim Deus me faça, e outro tanto, se não falou Adonias esta palavra contra a sua vida.
24 And now the Lord liveth, that hath confirmed me, and hath set me on the throne of [David], my father, and that hath made to me an house, as he spake, for Adonijah shall be slain today. (And now as the Lord liveth, who hath firmly established me, and hath put me on the throne of my father David, and who hath made a house for me, as he promised, let Adonijah be killed today!)
24 Agora, pois, vive o Senhor, que me confirmou, e me fez assentar no trono de Davi, meu pai, e que me tem feito casa, como tinha falado, que hoje morrerá Adonias.
25 And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada; and Benaiah slew Adonijah, and he was dead (or and so he died).
25 E enviou o rei Salomão pela mão de Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual arremeteu contra ele de modo que morreu.
26 Also the king said to Abiathar, the priest, Go thou into Anathoth, to thy field; and soothly thou art a man of death, that is, worthy of death, for conspiring against me, and David, my father; but today I shall not slay thee, for thou barest the ark of the Lord God before David, my father, and thou sufferedest travail in all things, in which my father travailed.
26 E a Abiatar, o sacerdote, disse o rei: Vai para Anatote, para os teus campos, porque és homem digno de morte; porém hoje não te matarei, porquanto levaste a arca do Senhor DEUS diante de Davi, meu pai, e porquanto foste aflito em tudo quanto meu pai foi aflito.
27 Therefore Solomon putted out Abiathar, that he should not be priest of the Lord, (or And so Solomon put out Abiathar, so that he would no longer be the Lord’s priest), (so) that the word of the Lord were [ful] filled, which he spake on the house of Eli in Shiloh.
27 Lançou, pois, Salomão fora a Abiatar, para que não fosse sacerdote do Senhor, para cumprir a palavra do Senhor, que tinha falado sobre a casa de Eli em Siló.
28 And a messenger came to Solomon, and said that Joab had bowed after Adonijah, and that he had not bowed after Solomon. Therefore Joab fled into the tabernacle of the Lord, and took the horn of the altar. (And a message concerning all of this came to Joab; for he had sided with Adonijah, but not with Absalom. And so Joab fled into the Tabernacle, \+em or the Tent\+em*, of the Lord, and took hold of the horns of the altar.)
28 E chegou a notícia até Joabe (porque Joabe tinha se desviado seguindo a Adonias, ainda que não tinha se desviado seguindo a Absalão), e Joabe fugiu para o tabernáculo do Senhor, e apegou-se às pontas do altar.
29 And it was told to king Solomon, that Joab had fled into the tabernacle of the Lord, and was beside the altar; and Solomon sent Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and said, Go thou, and slay him.
29 E disseram ao rei Salomão que Joabe tinha fugido para o tabernáculo do Senhor; e eis que está junto ao altar; então Salomão enviou Benaia, filho de Joiada, dizendo: Vai, arremete sobre ele.
30 And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the Lord, and said to Joab, The king saith these things, Go thou out. And he said, I shall not go out, but I shall die here. Benaiah told the word to the king (or Benaiah told this to the king), and said, Joab spake these things, and answered these things to me.
30 E foi Benaia ao tabernáculo do Senhor, e lhe disse: Assim diz o rei: Sai daí. E disse ele: Não, porém aqui morrerei. E Benaia tornou com a resposta ao rei, dizendo: Assim falou Joabe, e assim me respondeu.
31 And the king said to Benaiah, Do thou as he hath spoken, and slay thou him, and (then) bury him; and thou shalt remove the innocent blood, that was shed out of Joab, from me, and from the house of my father, (or and so thou shalt remove the innocent blood that was shed by Joab, from me, and from my father’s house).
31 E disse-lhe o rei: Faze como ele disse, e arremete contra ele, e sepulta-o, para que tires de mim e da casa de meu pai o sangue que Joabe sem causa derramou.
32 And the Lord yield on(to) his (own) head his (own) blood, for he killed two just men, and better than himself, and he killed them by (the) sword, while David, my father, knew not, Abner the son of Ner, the prince of the chivalry of Israel, and Amasa, the son of Jether, the prince of the host of Judah, (or that is, Abner the son of Ner, the leader of Israel’s cavalry,\+em or army\+em*, and Amasa, the son of Jether, the leader of Judah’s army).
32 Assim o Senhor fará recair o sangue dele sobre a sua cabeça, porque deu sobre dois homens mais justos e melhores do que ele, e os matou à espada, sem que meu pai Davi o soubesse, a saber: a Abner, filho de Ner, capitão do exército de Israel, e a Amasa, filho de Jeter, capitão do exército de Judá.
33 And the blood of them shall turn again into the head of Joab, and into the head of his seed without end; but peace be of the Lord till into without end to David, and to his seed, and to the house, and [the] throne of him. (And their blood shall return onto Joab’s head, and onto the head of his descendants forevermore; but let peace,\+em or prosperity\+em*, be from the Lord forevermore for David, and for his descendants, and for his house, and his throne.)
33 Assim recairá o sangue destes sobre a cabeça de Joabe e sobre a cabeça da sua descendência para sempre; mas a Davi, e à sua descendência, e à sua casa, e ao seu trono, dará o Senhor paz para todo o sempre.
34 Therefore Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, went up, and assailed Joab, and killed him; and Joab was buried in his house in (the) desert.
34 E subiu Benaia, filho de Joiada, e arremeteu contra ele, e o matou; e foi sepultado em sua casa, no deserto.
35 And the king ordained Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, upon the host for Joab; and the king put Zadok the priest (in place) for Abiathar. (And the king ordained Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, over the army in place of Joab; and he made Zadok the priest in place of Abiathar.)
35 E o rei pôs a Benaia, filho de Joiada, em seu lugar sobre o exército, e a Zadoque, o sacerdote, pôs o rei em lugar de Abiatar.
36 Also the king sent, and called (for) Shimei, and said to him, Build to thee an house in Jerusalem, and dwell thou there, (or Build a house for thyself in Jerusalem, and live thou in it), and thou shalt not go out from thence hither and thither;
36 Depois mandou o rei, e chamou a Simei, e disse-lhe: Edifica-te uma casa em Jerusalém, e habita aí, e daí não saias, nem para uma nem para outra parte.
37 for in whatever day thou goest out, and passest [over] the strand of Kidron, know thou thee worthy to be slain; thy blood shall be on thine head. (for in whatever day thou goest out, and passest over the Kidron Stream or and passest over the Kidron Gorge, know thou that thou shalt be killed; thy blood shall be upon thy own head.)
37 Porque há de ser que no dia em que saíres e passares o ribeiro de Cedrom, de certo que sem dúvida morrerás; o teu sangue será sobre a tua cabeça.
38 And Shimei said to the king, The word of the king is good; as my lord the king spake, so thy servant shall do. And so Shimei dwelled in Jerusalem many days.
38 E Simei disse ao rei: Boa é essa palavra; como tem falado o rei meu senhor, assim fará o teu servo. E Simei habitou em Jerusalém muitos dias.
39 But it was done after three years, that the servants of Shimei fled to Achish, the son of Maachah, king of Gath; and it was told to Shimei, that his servants had gone into Gath.
39 Sucedeu, porém, que, ao cabo de três anos, dois servos de Simei fugiram para Aquis, filho de Maaca, rei de Gate; e deram parte a Simei, dizendo: Eis que teus servos estão em Gate.
40 And Shimei rose up, and saddled his ass (or and saddled up his donkey), and went to Achish, into Gath, to seek his servants; and he brought them (back) again from Gath.
40 Então Simei se levantou, e albardou o seu jumento, e foi a Gate, ter com Aquis, em busca de seus servos; assim foi Simei, e trouxe os seus servos de Gate.
41 And it was told to king Solomon, that Shimei had gone to Gath from Jerusalem, and had come (back) again.
41 E disseram a Salomão como Simei fora de Jerusalém a Gate, e já tinha voltado.
42 And Solomon sent, and called him, and said to him, Whether I witnessed not to thee by the Lord, and before-said to thee, In whatever day thou shalt go out hither and thither, know thou that thou shalt die; and thou answeredest to me, The word is good, which I heard? (And Solomon sent, and called for him, and said to him, Did I not make thee swear by the Lord? and did I not say to thee, On whatever day that thou shalt go out here and there, know thou that thou shalt die? and didest thou not answer to me, The word, which I heard, is good?)
42 Então o rei mandou chamar a Simei, e disse-lhe: Não te conjurei eu pelo Senhor, e protestei contra ti, dizendo: No dia em que saíres para uma ou outra parte, sabe de certo que, sem dúvida, morrerás? E tu me disseste: Boa é essa palavra que ouvi.
43 Why therefore keptest thou not the oath of the Lord, and the commandment which I commanded to thee?
43 Por que, pois, não guardaste o juramento do Senhor, nem a ordem que te dei?
44 And the king said to Shimei, Thou knowest all the evil, of which thine heart is guilty to thee, which evil thou didest to [David] my father; the Lord hath yielded thy malice into thine head. (And the king said to Shimei, Thou knowest all the evil which thy heart is guilty of, which evil thou didest to my father David; and now the Lord shall yield thy malice onto thy own head.)
44 Disse mais o rei a Simei: Bem sabes tu toda a maldade que o teu coração reconhece, que fizeste a Davi, meu pai; pelo que o Senhor fez recair a tua maldade sobre a tua cabeça.
45 And king Solomon shall be blessed; and the throne of David shall be stable before the Lord till into without end.
45 Mas o rei Salomão será abençoado, e o trono de Davi será confirmado perante o Senhor para sempre.
46 Therefore the king commanded to Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada; and he assailed Shimei, and smote him, and he was dead. Therefore the realm was confirmed into the hands of Solomon; (And so the king commanded to Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada; and he assailed Shimei, and struck him down there, and he died. And so the kingdom was firmly established in Solomon’s hands;)
46 E o rei mandou a Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual saiu, e arremeteu contra ele, de modo que morreu; assim foi confirmado o reino na mão de Salomão.
