Isn’t|strong="G3588" it|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" found|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" desires which|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" always at|strong="G1722" war|strong="G4171" within|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5210"?
1 De onde vêm as guerras e brigas entre vós? Porventura não vêm disto, das concupiscências que guerreiam nos vossos membros?
2 You|strong="G5210" crave, yet|strong="G2532" do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" have|strong="G2192", so|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" commit|strong="G5407" murder|strong="G5407", so|strong="G2532" You|strong="G5210" covet|strong="G1937", yet|strong="G2532" cannot|strong="G1410" gain your|strong="G1223" end. You|strong="G5210" quarrel|strong="G4170" and|strong="G2532" fight|strong="G3164". You|strong="G5210" do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" have|strong="G2192", because|strong="G1223" you|strong="G5210" do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" ask.
2 Cobiçais, e nada tendes; matais, e desejais ter, e não podeis obter; combateis e guerreais, e nada tendes, porque não pedis.
3 You|strong="G5210" ask, yet|strong="G2532" do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" receive|strong="G2983", because|strong="G1360" you|strong="G5210" ask for|strong="G1722" a|strong="G2532" wrong|strong="G2560" purpose – to|strong="G2443" spend|strong="G1159" what|strong="G3588" you|strong="G5210" get|strong="G2532" on|strong="G1722" your|strong="G2532" pleasures|strong="G2237".
3 Pedis, e não recebeis, porque pedis mal, para consumirdes em vossos deleites.
4 Unfaithful people|strong="G1492"! Don’t|strong="G3588" you|strong="G3739" know|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" to|strong="G1014" be|strong="G1510" friends|strong="G5384" with|strong="G2316" the|strong="G3588" world|strong="G2889" means|strong="G1510" to|strong="G1014" be|strong="G1510" at|strong="G3756" enmity|strong="G2189" with|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316"? 4 Adúlteros e adúlteras, não sabeis vós que a amizade do mundo é inimizade contra Deus? Qualquer que quiser ser amigo do mundo, torna-se um inimigo de Deus.

5 Pensais vós que a escritura diz em vão: O Espírito que em nós habita tem ciúmes?
6 But|strong="G1161" he|strong="G1161" gives|strong="G1325" us|strong="G1325" greater|strong="G3173" grace|strong="G5485"; and|strong="G1161" that|strong="G3588" is|strong="G3588" why|strong="G1352" it|strong="G1161" says|strong="G3004", –
6 Antes, dá mais graça. Portanto ele diz: Deus resiste aos orgulhosos, mas dá graça aos humildes.
7 Therefore|strong="G3767" submit|strong="G5293" to|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316". Stand|strong="G5210" up|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" devil|strong="G1228", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" flee|strong="G5343" from|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210".
7 Sujeitai-vos, pois, a Deus, resisti ao diabo, e ele fugirá de vós.
8 Draw|strong="G1448" near|strong="G1448" to|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" draw|strong="G1448" near|strong="G1448" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210". Make|strong="G2511" your|strong="G2532" hands|strong="G5495" clean|strong="G2511", you|strong="G5210" sinners; and|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" hearts|strong="G2588" pure, you|strong="G5210" vacillators!
8 Chegai-vos a Deus, e ele se chegará a vós. Limpai vossas mãos, vós pecadores; e purificai vossos corações, vós de duplo ânimo.
9 Grieve|strong="G5003", mourn|strong="G3996", and|strong="G2532" lament! Let|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" laughter|strong="G1071" be|strong="G2532" turned|strong="G3344" to|strong="G1519" mourning|strong="G3997", and|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" happiness to|strong="G1519" gloom|strong="G2726"!
9 Estai aflitos, e lamentai e chorai; converta-se o vosso riso em pranto, e a vossa alegria em pesar.
10 Humble|strong="G5013" yourselves|strong="G4771" before|strong="G1799" the|strong="G2532" Lord|strong="G2962", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" exalt|strong="G5312" you|strong="G5210".
10 Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor, e ele vos exaltará.
11 Do|strong="G2919" not|strong="G3756" disparage one|strong="G3588" another|strong="G3588", friends. But|strong="G1161", if|strong="G1487" you|strong="G1487" pass|strong="G2919" judgment|strong="G2919" on|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" Law|strong="G3551", you|strong="G1487" are|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" obeying it|strong="G2532", but|strong="G1161" judging|strong="G2919" it|strong="G2532".
11 Não faleis mal uns dos outros, meus irmãos. Aquele que fala mal de seu irmão, e julga a seu irmão, fala mal da lei, e julga a lei; e, se tu julgas a lei, já não és um cumpridor da lei, mas juiz.
12 There|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" only|strong="G2532" one|strong="G1520" lawgiver|strong="G3550" and|strong="G2532" judge|strong="G2919" – he|strong="G2532" who|strong="G5101" has|strong="G5101" the|strong="G2532" power|strong="G1410" both|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" save|strong="G4982" and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" destroy. So|strong="G2532" then|strong="G2532" who|strong="G5101" are|strong="G1510" you|strong="G4771" to|strong="G2532" pass|strong="G2919" judgment|strong="G2919" on|strong="G1161" your|strong="G2532" neighbour|strong="G4139"?
12 Há um legislador que é capaz de salvar e destruir. Quem és tu, porém, que julgas a outrem?
13 Listen to|strong="G1519" me|strong="G3004", you|strong="G3004" who|strong="G3588" say|strong="G3004" “Today|strong="G4594" or|strong="G2228" tomorrow we|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" go|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" such|strong="G3592" and|strong="G2532" such|strong="G3592" a|strong="G2532" town|strong="G4172" and|strong="G2532" spend|strong="G4160" a|strong="G2532" year|strong="G1763" there|strong="G1563", doing|strong="G4160" business|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" making|strong="G4160" money,”
13 Ide agora vós, que dizeis: Hoje, ou amanhã, iremos a tal cidade, e lá passaremos um ano, e compraremos, e venderemos, e teremos um ganho.
14 yet|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" know|strong="G1987" what|strong="G4169" your|strong="G2532" life|strong="G2222" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" like|strong="G4314" tomorrow! For|strong="G1063" you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" but|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" puff of|strong="G2532" smoke that|strong="G3588" appears|strong="G5316" for|strong="G1063" a|strong="G2532" little|strong="G3641" while|strong="G1510" and|strong="G2532" then|strong="G2532" vanishes.
14 Porque vós não sabeis o que trará o amanhã. Porquanto, o que é a vossa vida? É apenas um vapor que aparece por um pouco de tempo, e depois desaparece.
15 Instead you|strong="G5210" should|strong="G3588" say|strong="G3004" “If|strong="G1437" the|strong="G2532" Lord|strong="G2962" wills|strong="G2309", we|strong="G1437" will|strong="G2309" live|strong="G2198" and|strong="G2532" do|strong="G4160" this|strong="G3778" or|strong="G2228" that|strong="G3588".”
15 Porque isso é o que devíeis dizer: Se o Senhor quiser, haveremos de viver, e faremos isto ou aquilo.
16 But|strong="G1161" as|strong="G1722" it|strong="G1161" is|strong="G1510", you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" boasting|strong="G2746" presumptuously! All|strong="G3956" such|strong="G5108" boasting|strong="G2746" is|strong="G1510" wicked|strong="G4190".
16 Mas agora vos gloriais em vossas presunções; toda esta glória é maligna.
17 The|strong="G2532" person, then|strong="G3767", who|strong="G2532" knows|strong="G1492" what|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" right|strong="G2570" but|strong="G2532" fails to|strong="G2532" do|strong="G4160" it|strong="G2532" – that|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" sin in|strong="G2532" them|strong="G4160".
17 Portanto, aquele que sabe fazer o bem e não o faz, comete pecado.
