For|strong="G1063" no|strong="G3756" authority|strong="G1849" exists except|strong="G1487" by|strong="G5259" the|strong="G3956" will|strong="G2316" of|strong="G5259" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G1161" the|strong="G3956" existing authorities|strong="G1849" have|strong="G1510" been|strong="G1510" appointed|strong="G5021" by|strong="G5259" God|strong="G2316".
1 Toda a alma esteja sujeita às potestades superiores; porque não há potestade que não venha de Deus; e as potestades que há foram ordenadas por Deus.
2 Therefore|strong="G5620" the|strong="G1161" one|strong="G1438" who|strong="G3588" sets themself against the|strong="G1161" authorities|strong="G1849" is|strong="G3588" resisting God|strong="G2316"’s appointment, and|strong="G1161" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" resist will|strong="G2316" bring|strong="G2983" a|strong="G2983" judgment|strong="G2917" on|strong="G1161" themselves|strong="G1438".
2 Por isso quem resiste à potestade resiste à ordenação de Deus; e os que resistem trarão sobre si mesmos a condenação.
3 A|strong="G2192" good|strong="G3756" action|strong="G2041" has|strong="G2192" nothing|strong="G3756" to|strong="G2532" fear|strong="G5401" from|strong="G1537" rulers; a|strong="G2192" bad|strong="G2556" action|strong="G2041" has|strong="G2192". Do|strong="G4160" you|strong="G1510" want|strong="G2309" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" reason|strong="G1537" to|strong="G2532" fear|strong="G5401" the|strong="G2532" authorities|strong="G1849"? Then|strong="G2532" do|strong="G4160" what|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" good|strong="G3756", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G1510" will|strong="G2309" win their|strong="G2532" praise|strong="G1868".
3 Porque os magistrados não são terror para as boas obras, mas para as más. Queres tu, pois, não temer a potestade? Faze o bem, e terás louvor dela.
4 For|strong="G1063" they|strong="G1161" are|strong="G1510" God|strong="G2316"’s servants|strong="G1249" appointed|strong="G4160" for|strong="G1063" your|strong="G1437" good|strong="G3756". But|strong="G1161", if|strong="G1437" you|strong="G4771" do|strong="G4160" what|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" wrong|strong="G2556", you|strong="G4771" may|strong="G2316" well|strong="G1063" be|strong="G1510" afraid|strong="G5399"; for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G1519" sword|strong="G3162" they|strong="G1161" carry|strong="G4160" is|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" without|strong="G3756" meaning! They|strong="G1161" are|strong="G1510" God|strong="G2316"’s servants|strong="G1249" to|strong="G1519" inflict his|strong="G1519" punishments on|strong="G1519" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" do|strong="G4160" wrong|strong="G2556".
4 Porque ela é ministro de Deus para teu bem. Mas, se fizeres o mal, teme, pois não traz debalde a espada; porque é ministro de Deus, e vingador para castigar o que faz o mal.
5 You|strong="G2532" are|strong="G3588" bound, therefore|strong="G1352", to|strong="G2532" obey, not|strong="G3756" only|strong="G3440" through|strong="G1223" fear of|strong="G1223" God|strong="G2532"’s punishments, but|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" as|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" matter of|strong="G1223" conscience|strong="G4893".
5 Portanto é necessário que lhe estejais sujeitos, não somente pelo castigo, mas também pela consciência.
6 This|strong="G3778", too|strong="G2532", is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" reason|strong="G1223" for|strong="G1063" your|strong="G1223" paying taxes|strong="G5411"; for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G2532" officials are|strong="G1510" God|strong="G2316"’s officers, devoting|strong="G4342" themselves|strong="G4342" to|strong="G1519" this|strong="G3778" special work.
6 Por esta razão também pagais tributos, porque são ministros de Deus, atendendo sempre a isto mesmo.

7 Portanto, dai a cada um o que deveis: a quem tributo, tributo; a quem imposto, imposto; a quem temor, temor; a quem honra, honra.

8 A ninguém devais coisa alguma, a não ser o amor com que vos ameis uns aos outros; porque quem ama aos outros cumpriu a lei.

9 Com efeito: Não adulterarás, não matarás, não furtarás, não darás falso testemunho, não cobiçarás; e se há algum outro mandamento, tudo nesta palavra se resume: Amarás ao teu próximo como a ti mesmo.
10 Love never|strong="G3756" wrongs a|strong="G3756" neighbour|strong="G4139". Therefore|strong="G3767" love fully satisfies the|strong="G3588" Law|strong="G3551".
10 O amor não faz mal ao próximo. De sorte que o cumprimento da lei é o amor.

11 E isto digo, conhecendo o tempo, que já é hora de despertarmos do sono; porque a nossa salvação está agora mais perto de nós do que quando aceitamos a fé.

12 A noite é passada, e o dia é chegado. Rejeitemos, pois, as obras das trevas, e vistamo-nos das armas da luz.

13 Andemos honestamente, como de dia; não em glutonarias, nem em bebedeiras, nem em desonestidades, nem em dissoluções, nem em contendas e inveja.
14 No|strong="G3361"! Arm yourselves with|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" spirit|strong="G3588" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547", and|strong="G2532" spend|strong="G4160" no|strong="G3361" thought on|strong="G1519" your|strong="G2962" earthly|strong="G4561" nature, to|strong="G1519" satisfy|strong="G4160" its cravings.
14 Mas revesti-vos do Senhor Jesus Cristo, e não tenhais cuidado da carne em suas concupiscências.
