GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs ACF
1 On the thirteenth day of Adar, the twelfth month, the king’s command and decree were to be carried out. On that very day, when the enemies of the Jews expected to overpower them, the exact opposite happened: The Jews overpowered those who hated them.
1 E, no duodécimo mês, que é o mês de Adar, no dia treze do mesmo mês em que chegou a palavra do rei e a sua ordem para se executar, no dia em que os inimigos dos judeus esperavam assenhorear-se deles, sucedeu o contrário, porque os judeus foram os que se assenhorearam dos que os odiavam.
2 The Jews assembled in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Xerxes to kill those who were planning to harm them. No one could stand up against them, because all the people were terrified of them.
2 Porque os judeus nas suas cidades, em todas as províncias do rei Assuero, se ajuntaram para pôr as mãos naqueles que procuravam o seu mal; e ninguém podia resistir-lhes, porque o medo deles caíra sobre todos aqueles povos.
3 All the officials of the provinces, the satraps, the governors, and the king’s treasurers assisted the Jews because they were terrified of Mordecai.
3 E todos os líderes das províncias, e os sátrapas, e os governadores, e os que faziam a obra do rei, auxiliavam os judeus; porque tinha caído sobre eles o temor de Mardoqueu.
4 Mordecai was an important man in the king’s palace. Moreover, his reputation was spreading to all the provinces, since Mordecai was becoming more and more powerful.
4 Porque Mardoqueu era grande na casa do rei, e a sua fama crescia por todas as províncias, porque o homem Mardoqueu ia sendo engrandecido.
5 Then with their swords, the Jews attacked all their enemies, killing them, destroying them, and doing whatever they pleased to those who hated them.
5 Feriram, pois, os judeus a todos os seus inimigos, a golpes de espada, com matança e com destruição; e fizeram dos seus inimigos o que quiseram.
6 In the fortress of Susa the Jews killed and wiped out 500 men.
6 E na fortaleza de Susã os judeus mataram e destruíram quinhentos homens;
7 They also killed Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha,
7 Como também a Parsandata, e a Dalfom e a Aspata,
8 Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha,
8 E a Porata, e a Adalia, e a Aridata,
9 Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vaizatha.
9 E a Farmasta, e a Arisai, e a Aridai, e a Vaisata; ú
10 These were the ten sons of Haman, who was the son of Hammedatha and the enemy of the Jews. But the Jews did not seize any of their possessions.
10 Os dez filhos de Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o inimigo dos judeus, mataram, porém ao despojo não estenderam a sua mão.
11 On that day the number of those killed in the fortress of Susa was reported to the king.
11 No mesmo dia foi comunicado ao rei o número dos mortos na fortaleza de Susã.
12 So the king said to Queen Esther, “In the fortress of Susa the Jews have killed and wiped out 500 men and Haman’s 10 sons. What must they have done in the rest of the king’s provinces! Now, what is your request? It will be granted to you. And what else would you like? It, too, will be granted.”
12 E disse o rei à rainha Ester: Na fortaleza de Susã os judeus mataram e destruíram quinhentos homens, e os dez filhos de Hamã; nas mais províncias do rei que teriam feito? Qual é, pois, a tua petição? E dar-se-te-á. Ou qual é ainda o teu requerimento? E far-se-á.
13 Esther said, “If it pleases you, Your Majesty, allow the Jews in Susa to do tomorrow what was decreed for today. Let them hang Haman’s ten sons on poles.”
13 Então disse Ester: Se bem parecer ao rei, conceda-se aos judeus que se acham em Susã que também façam amanhã conforme ao mandado de hoje; e pendurem numa forca os dez filhos de Hamã.
14 The king commanded this, issuing a decree in Susa. And so they hung Haman’s ten sons ⌞on poles⌟.
14 Então disse o rei que assim se fizesse; e publicou-se um edito em Susã, e enforcaram os dez filhos de Hamã.
15 The Jews in Susa also assembled on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar and killed 300 men in Susa, but they did not seize any of their possessions.
15 E reuniram-se os judeus que se achavam em Susã também no dia catorze do mês de Adar, e mataram em Susã trezentos homens; porém ao despojo não estenderam a sua mão.
16 The other Jews who were in the king’s provinces had also assembled to defend and free themselves from their enemies. They killed 75,000 of those who hated them, but they did not seize any of their possessions.
16 Também os demais judeus que se achavam nas províncias do rei se reuniram e se dispuseram em defesa das suas vidas, e tiveram descanso dos seus inimigos; e mataram dos seus inimigos setenta e cinco mil; porém ao despojo não estenderam a sua mão.
17 This was on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. On the fourteenth they rested and made it a day of feasting and celebration.
17 Sucedeu isto no dia treze do mês de Adar; e descansaram no dia catorze, e fizeram, daquele dia, dia de banquetes e de alegria.
18 But the Jews in Susa had assembled on the thirteenth and fourteenth. They rested on the fifteenth and made it a day of feasting and celebration.
18 Também os judeus, que se achavam em Susã se ajuntaram nos dias treze e catorze do mesmo; e descansaram no dia quinze, e fizeram, daquele dia, dia de banquetes e de alegria.
19 That is why the Jews who live in the villages and in the unwalled towns make the fourteenth day of the month of Adar a holiday for feasting and celebration. They also send gifts of food to one another.
19 Os judeus, porém, das aldeias, que habitavam nas vilas, fizeram do dia catorze do mês de Adar dia de alegria e de banquetes, e dia de folguedo, e de mandarem presentes uns aos outros.
20 Now, Mordecai wrote these things down and sent official letters to all the Jews in all the provinces of King Xerxes, near and far.
20 E Mardoqueu escreveu estas coisas, e enviou cartas a todos os judeus que se achavam em todas as províncias do rei Assuero, aos de perto, e aos de longe,
21 He established the fourteenth and fifteenth days of the month of Adar as days they must observe every year.
21 Ordenando-lhes que guardassem o dia catorze do mês de Adar, e o dia quinze do mesmo, todos os anos,
22 They were to observe them just like the days when the Jews freed themselves from their enemies. In that month their grief turned to joy and their mourning into a holiday. He declared that these days are to be days for feasting and celebrating and for sending gifts of food to one another, especially gifts to the poor.
22 Como os dias em que os judeus tiveram repouso dos seus inimigos, e o mês que se lhes mudou de tristeza em alegria, e de luto em dia de festa, para que os fizessem dias de banquetes e de alegria, e de mandarem presentes uns aos outros, e dádivas aos pobres.
23 So the Jews accepted as tradition what they had begun, as Mordecai had written to them.
23 E os judeus encarregaram-se de fazer o que já tinham começado, como também o que Mardoqueu lhes tinha escrito.
24 It was because Haman, the enemy of all the Jews, had plotted against the Jews to destroy them. (Haman was the son of Hammedatha and was from Agag.) Haman had the Pur (which means the lot) thrown ⌞in order to determine when⌟ to crush and destroy them.
24 Porque Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o agagita, inimigo de todos os judeus, tinha intentado destruir os judeus, e tinha lançado Pur, isto é, a sorte, para os assolar e destruir.
25 But when this came to the king’s attention, he ordered, in the well-known letter, that the evil plan Haman had plotted against the Jews should turn back on his own head. As a result, they hung Haman and his sons on poles.
25 Mas, vindo isto perante o rei, mandou ele por cartas que o mau intento que Hamã formara contra os judeus, se tornasse sobre a sua cabeça; pelo que penduraram a ele e a seus filhos numa forca.
26 So the Jews called these days Purim, based on the word Pur. Therefore, because of everything that was said in this letter—both what they had seen and what had happened to them—
26 Por isso àqueles dias chamam Purim, do nome Pur; assim também por causa de todas as palavras daquela carta, e do que viram sobre isso, e do que lhes tinha sucedido,
27 the Jews established a tradition for themselves and their descendants and for anyone who would join them. The tradition was that a person should never fail to observe these two days every year, as they were described and at their appointed time.
27 Confirmaram os judeus, e tomaram sobre si, e sobre a sua descendência, e sobre todos os que se achegassem a eles, que não se deixaria de guardar estes dois dias conforme ao que se escrevera deles, e segundo o seu tempo determinado, todos os anos.
28 So these days must be remembered and observed in every age, family, province, and city. These days of Purim must not be ignored among the Jews, and the importance of these days must never be forgotten by the generations to come.
28 E que estes dias seriam lembrados e guardados em cada geração, família, província e cidade, e que esses dias de Purim não fossem revogados entre os judeus, e que a memória deles nunca teria fim entre os de sua descendência.
29 Abihail’s daughter Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew wrote with full authority in order to establish with this second letter the well-known celebration of Purim.
29 Então a rainha Ester, filha de Abiail, e Mardoqueu, o judeu, escreveram com toda autoridade uma segunda vez, para confirmar a carta a respeito de Purim.
30 Mordecai sent official documents granting peace and security to all the Jews in the 127 provinces of the kingdom of Xerxes.
30 E mandaram cartas a todos os judeus, às cento e vinte e sete províncias do reino de Assuero, com palavras de paz e verdade.
31 He did this in order to establish these days of Purim at the appointed time. Mordecai the Jew and Queen Esther established them for themselves, as they had established for themselves and their descendants the practices of fasting with sadness.
31 Para confirmarem estes dias de Purim nos seus tempos determinados, como Mardoqueu, o judeu, e a rainha Ester lhes tinham estabelecido, e como eles mesmos já o tinham estabelecido sobre si e sobre a sua descendência, acerca do jejum e do seu clamor.
32 Esther’s command had established these practices of Purim, and they are written in a book.
32 E o mandado de Ester estabeleceu os sucessos daquele Purim; e escreveu-se no livro.
