1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the righteous one.

17 And the world is passing away along with its lusts, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

18 Children, it is the last hour, and just as you have heard thatthe antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they went out so that it might be revealed that they do not belong to us.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and youknow all things.

21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

24 Therefore let what you have heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you have heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in theSon and in the Father.

25 And this is what he has promised us—eternal life.

26 I have written these things to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.

27 But the anointing you received from him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. Butthe same anointing teaches you about all things; it is true, not a lie. So, just as it has taught you,you must abide in him.

28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he is revealed we may have confidence and not shrink back from him in shame when he comes back.

29 If youknow that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.
