1 “For the leader of the music; to be accompanied with the gittith. A psalm of David.” O Jehovah, our Lord! How excellent is thy name in all the earth! Thou hast set thy glory above the heavens.
1 Senhor, Senhor nosso, como é majestoso o teu nome em toda a terra! Tu, cuja glória é cantada nos céus.
2 Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained praise, To put thine adversaries to shame, And to silence the enemy and avenger.
2 Dos lábios das crianças e dos recém-nascidos firmaste o teu nome como fortaleza, por causa dos teus adversários, para silenciar o inimigo que busca vingança.
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars which thou hast ordained:
3 Quando contemplo os teus céus, obra dos teus dedos, a lua e as estrelas que ali firmaste,
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him, And the son of man, that thou carest for him?
4 pergunto: Que é o homem, para que com ele te importes? E o filho do homem, para que com ele te preocupes?
5 Yet thou hast made him little lower than God; Thou hast crowned him with glory and honor.
5 Tu o fizeste um pouco menor do que os seres celestiais e o coroaste de glória e de honra.
6 Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet,—
6 Tu o fizeste dominar sobre as obras das tuas mãos; sob os seus pés tudo puseste:
7 All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the forest;
7 Todos os rebanhos e manadas, e até os animais selvagens,
8 The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, And whatever passeth through the paths of the deep.
8 as aves do céu, os peixes do mar e tudo o que percorre as veredas dos mares.
9 O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!
9 Senhor, Senhor nosso, como é majestoso o teu nome em toda a terra!
