1 Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
1 Senhor, por que estás tão longe? Por que te escondes em tempos de angústia?
2 Through the haughtiness of the wicked the poor are in distress; They are caught in the wiles which are contrived for them.
2 Em sua arrogância o ímpio persegue o pobre, que é apanhado em suas tramas.
3 The wicked boasteth of his heart's desire; The rapacious renounceth and contemneth Jehovah.
3 Ele se gaba de sua própria cobiça e, em sua ganância, amaldiçoa e insulta o Senhor.
4 The wicked [[saith]] in his haughtiness, “He careth not!” All his thoughts are, “There is no God.”
4 Em sua presunção o ímpio não o busca; não há lugar para Deus em nenhum dos seus planos.
5 His course is always prosperous; Far in the heights are thy judgments from him; As for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
5 Os seus caminhos prosperam sempre; tão acima da sua compreensão estão as tuas leis que ele faz pouco caso de todos os seus adversários,
6 He saith in his heart, “I shall never fall; I shall never be in adversity.”
6 pensando consigo mesmo: "Nada me abalará! Desgraça alguma me atingirá, nem a mim nem aos meus descendentes".
7 His mouth is full of perjury, deceit, and oppression; Mischief and injustice are upon his tongue.
7 Sua boca está cheia de maldições, mentiras e ameaças; violência e maldade estão em sua língua.
8 He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; In secret places doth he murder the innocent; His eyes are secretly fixed upon the poor.
8 Fica à espreita perto dos povoados; em emboscadas mata os inocentes, procurando às escondidas as suas vítimas.
9 He secretly lieth in wait, like a lion in a thicket; He lieth in wait to seize upon the helpless; He catcheth the poor, drawing him into his net.
9 Fica à espreita como o leão escondido; fica à espreita para apanhar o necessitado; apanha o necessitado e o arrasta para a sua rede.
10 He croucheth, and lowereth himself, And the wretched fall into his paws.
10 Agachado, fica de tocaia; as suas vítimas caem em seu poder.
11 He saith in his heart, “God doth forget; He hideth his face; he doth never see it.”
11 Pensa consigo mesmo: "Deus se esqueceu; escondeu o rosto e nunca verá isto".
12 Arise, O LORD! O God, lift up thine hand: Forget not the distressed!
12 Levanta-te, Senhor! Ergue a tua mão, ó Deus! Não te esqueças dos necessitados.
13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God, And say in his heart, “He careth not for it”?
13 Por que o ímpio insulta a Deus, dizendo no seu íntimo: "De nada me pedirás contas! "?
14 Thou dost see it; yea, thou beholdest malice and oppression, And markest it upon thy hand! The poor committeth himself to thee; Thou art the helper of the fatherless.
14 Mas tu enxergas o sofrimento e a dor; observa-os para tomá-los em tuas mãos. A vítima deles entrega-se a ti; tu és o protetor do órfão.
15 Break thou the arm of the unjust and wicked man; Seek out his wickedness, till thou canst find none!
15 Quebra o braço do ímpio e do perverso, pede contas de sua impiedade até que dela nada mais se ache.
16 Jehovah is king for ever and ever; The gentiles shall perish out of his land.
16 O Senhor é rei para todo o sempre; da sua terra desapareceram os outros povos.
17 Thou, O LORD! wilt hear the desires of the distressed; Thou wilt strengthen their hearts; Thou wilt lend a listening ear!
17 Tu, Senhor, ouves a súplica dos necessitados; tu os reanimas e atendes ao seu clamor.
18 Thou wilt maintain the cause of the fatherless and the oppressed, That henceforth none may be driven from the land.
18 Defendes o órfão e o oprimido, a fim de que o homem, que é pó, já não cause terror.
