1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble! For the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is near!
1 Toquem as cornetas no monte Sião , deem um grito de alarme no monte de Deus! Trema de medo, povo de Judá, pois está chegando o Dia do
2 A day of darkness, and gloominess, A day of clouds, and thick darkness. As the morning light spreadeth itself upon the mountains, There cometh a numerous people and a strong; Like them there have been none of old time, And after them there shall not be, Even to the years of many generations.
2 Será um dia de escuridão e trevas, um dia de nuvens negras. Os gafanhotos avançam como um exército enorme e poderoso, como uma nuvem escura que cobre as montanhas. Nunca houve uma coisa assim no passado e no futuro nunca mais haverá.
3 A fire devoureth before them, And behind them a flame burneth; The land is as the garden of Eden before them. And behind them a desolate wilderness! Yea, nothing escapeth them.
3 Eles devoram tudo, como se fossem fogo, como o fogo que queima e destrói. Antes de chegarem, a terra é como um paraíso; mas, depois de passarem, ela parece um deserto. Os gafanhotos acabam com tudo!
4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, And like horsemen do they run;
4 Eles parecem cavalos e correm como cavalos de guerra.
5 Like rattling chariots they leap on the tops of the mountains; Like the crackling flame of fire, which devoureth stubble; Like a mighty host set in battle array.
5 Vêm saltando no alto das montanhas, fazendo barulho como carros de guerra, como galhos secos estalando no fogo. São como um enorme exército posto em ordem de combate.
6 Before them the people tremble, And all faces gather blackness.
6 Eles vão avançando, e todo mundo treme, todos ficam pálidos de medo.
7 They run like mighty men; They climb the wall like warriors; They march every one on his way; They change not their paths.
7 Eles atacam como soldados valentes; correm, sobem pelos muros e continuam sempre avançando. Marcham em linha reta
8 One doth not thrust another; They march every one in his path, And though they rush among weapons, they are not wounded.
8 e não empurram uns aos outros, pois cada um segue o seu caminho. Marcham sempre em frente, e não há armas que possam fazê-los parar.
9 They run through the city; They run upon the wall; They go up into the houses; They enter in at the windows, like a thief.
9 Eles atacam a cidade, sobem pelas paredes das casas e entram pelas janelas como ladrões.
10 The earth quaketh before them, And the heavens tremble; The sun and the moon are darkened, And the stars withdraw their shining.
10 Avançam sem parar, e a terra treme, o céu estremece, o sol e a lua se escurecem, e as estrelas deixam de brilhar.
11 Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; For very great is his host; Yea, it is mighty, executing his word; The day of Jehovah is great, and very terrible; Who shall be able to bear it?
11 À frente do seu exército, o O exército é enorme, e os soldados são valentes! Como é terrível o Dia do Quem poderá suportá-lo?
12 Yet even now, saith Jehovah, Turn ye to me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning!
12 O Senhor Deus diz: “Mas agora voltem para mim com todo o coração, jejuando, chorando e se lamentando.
13 And rend your hearts, and not your garments, And turn to Jehovah your God, For he is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness, And repenteth of a threatened evil.
13 Em sinal de arrependimento, não rasguem as roupas, mas sim o coração.” Voltem para o pois ele é bondoso e misericordioso; é paciente e muito amoroso e está sempre pronto a mudar de ideia e não castigar.
14 Who knoweth but he will turn and repent, And leave a blessing behind him, Even a flour-offering and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God.
14 Talvez o Senhor , nosso Deus, mude de ideia e abençoe o seu povo, dando-lhe boas colheitas. Então vocês poderão apresentar a Deus ofertas de alimento e de vinho.
15 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Appoint yea fast; proclaim a solemn assembly!
15 Toquem as trombetas no monte Sião ! Anunciem um dia santo de jejum e convoquem o povo para se reunir no Templo!
16 Gather the people; appoint a congregation; Assemble the elders; Gather the children and the sucklings! Let the bridegroom come forth from his chamber, And the bride from her nuptial bed!
16 Reúnam todo o povo e mandem que eles se Que venham todos, velhos e crianças e até as criancinhas de peito! Que os recém-casados saiam de casa e venham ao Templo também!
17 Let the priests, the servants of Jehovah, Weep between the porch and the altar, And say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, And give not thine inheritance to reproach, And to be a by-word to the nations! Why should they say among the nations, Where is their God?
17 E vocês, sacerdotes, que no pátio do Templo servem a Deus, o chorem e façam esta oração: “Ó Deus, não castigues o teu povo! Não nos humilhes diante dos outros povos para que eles não caçoem de nós e perguntem: ‘Onde está o Deus de vocês?’ ”
18 Then will Jehovah be zealous for his land, And have compassion on his people,
18 Então o Senhor mostrou o seu grande amor para com a sua terra e teve pena do seu povo.
19 Yea, Jehovah will answer, and say to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, And new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; And I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
19 E respondeu: “Agora, vou lhes dar cereais, vinho e azeite; assim vocês comerão e ficarão satisfeitos. Nunca mais deixarei que os outros povos caçoem de vocês.
20 I will remove far from you the northern host, And I will drive it into a dry and desolate land; Its van toward the Eastern sea, And its rear toward the Western sea. And its scent shall come up, And its ill savor shall come up, Because it hath done great things.
20 Enxotarei para longe de vocês a praga de gafanhotos que vem do Norte e os jogarei no deserto. Os gafanhotos que vêm na frente serão jogados no mar Morto, e os que vêm atrás cairão no mar Mediterrâneo. Os gafanhotos mortos, aos montões, vão apodrecer e cheirar mal. Eu vou fazer grandes coisas!
21 Fear not, O land, exult and rejoice, For Jehovah hath done great things!
21 “Alegrem-se, ó campos, e não tenham medo, pois eu, o
22 Fear not, O ye beasts of the field, For the pastures of the desert spring up, For the tree beareth its fruit; The fig-tree and the vine yield their strength!
22 Animais selvagens, não fiquem com medo, pois o capim vai ficar verde, as árvores darão frutas, e haverá muito figo e muita uva.
23 And, O ye sons of Zion, exult, And rejoice in Jehovah your God! For he giveth you the former rain in just measure, And causeth showers to come down upon you, Even the former rain, and the latter rain, as aforetime.
23 “Alegrem-se, moradores de Jerusalém, pois eu, o Eu lhes dei chuvas no tempo certo, as do outono e as da primavera, muita chuva, como no passado.
24 And the threshing-floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
24 A colheita de trigo será boa, e haverá muito vinho e muito azeite.
25 And I will restore to you the years Which the swarming-locust hath eaten, The licking-locust, the consuming-locust, and the gnawing-locusts, My great army, which I sent among you.
25 Devolverei tudo o que vocês perderam quando eu mandei as enormes nuvens de gafanhotos, que, como exércitos, destruíram as colheitas.
26 Ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, And praise the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt wondrously with you; And my people shall never be put to shame.
26 Vocês terão comida até não querer mais e louvarão o que derramou tantas bênçãos sobre vocês. E o meu povo nunca mais será humilhado.
27 Ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, And that I am Jehovah, your God, and none else; And my people shall never be put to shame.
27 Vocês ficarão sabendo que eu estou com vocês; saberão que eu, o e que não há nenhum outro Deus. E o meu povo nunca mais será humilhado.”
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
28 O Senhor diz ao seu povo: “Depois disso, eu derramarei o meu Espírito sobre todas as pessoas: os filhos e as filhas de vocês anunciarão a minha mensagem; os velhos sonharão, e os moços terão visões.
29 Upon the men-servants also, and upon the handmaids, Will I pour out my spirit in those days.
29 Até sobre os escravos e as escravas eu derramarei o meu Espírito naqueles dias.
30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; Blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.
30 Farei com que apareçam coisas espantosas no céu e na terra: haverá sangue, e fogo, e nuvens de fumaça.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of Jehovah cometh, The great and the terrible day. Then whoever calleth on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered;
31 O sol ficará escuro, e a lua se tornará cor de sangue, antes que chegue o grande e terrível Dia do
32 For upon mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, shall be deliverance, As Jehovah hath spoken; And among the remnant, whom Jehovah shall call.
32 Então todo aquele que pedir a ajuda do Senhor será salvo. Pois o Senhor prometeu que todos os que não tiverem sido destruídos estarão no monte Sião, em Jerusalém. Aqueles que o Senhor escolheu serão salvos.
