1 Thus saith Jehovah: Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, By which I dismissed her? Or who is he among my creditors To whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities are ye sold, And for your transgressions was your mother dismissed.
1 Assim diz o SENHOR: Onde está a certidão de divórcio de tua mãe, a quem eu tenha repudiado? Ou qual de meus credores é aquele a quem eu vos tenha vendido? Eis que por vossas iniquidades fostes vendidos e por causa de vossas transgressões é vossa mãe rejeitada.
2 Wherefore, when I came, was no man at hand? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand too short to redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, And make the rivers a desert. Their fish putrefy for want of water, And die with thirst.
2 Por esta razão quando eu vim não havia nenhum homem? Quando eu chamei não havia ninguém para responder? Está minha mão encurtada de alguma forma que não possa redimir? Ou não tenho eu poder para livrar? Eis que à minha repreensão eu seco o mar. Eu faço de rios um deserto. Seus peixes cheiram mal, porquanto não há água, e morrem de sede.
3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, And make sackcloth their covering.
3 Eu visto os céus com escuridão e faço da vestimenta de pano de saco suas cobertas.
4 The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of the learned, That I might know how to strengthen with my words them that are weary; He wakeneth me every morning, He wakeneth mine ear, That I may hear in the manner of the learned.
4 O Senhor DEUS me tem dado a língua do instruído, a fim de que eu deva saber como dizer uma palavra adequada para aquele que está cansado. Ele me acorda manhã após manhã. Ele desperta meu ouvido para ouvir como o erudito.
5 The Lord Jehovah opened mine ear, And I was not disobedient, Neither did I withdraw myself backward.
5 O Senhor DEUS tem aberto meu ouvido e eu não fui rebelde, nem retrocedi.
6 I gave my back to the smiters, And my cheeks to them that pluck the beard; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
6 Eu dei minhas costas para os golpeadores, e minhas bochechas para aqueles que arrancaram o cabelo. Eu não escondi minha face da vergonha e das cusparadas.
7 But the Lord Jehovah is my helper, Therefore shall I not be confounded; Therefore have I made my face like a flint, For I know that I shall not be put to shame.
7 Porquanto, o Senhor DEUS me ajudará; portanto, eu não serei confundido. Por conseguinte, eu tenho disposto minha face como uma pederneira; e eu sei que não serei envergonhado.
8 He that defendeth my cause is near; Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together! Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me!
8 Aquele que me justifica está próximo; quem contenderá comigo? Apresentemo-nos juntos; quem é meu adversário? Deixe-o aproximar-se de mim.
9 Behold, the Lord Jehovah is my defender; Who is he that shall condemn me? Behold, they shall all waste away like a garment; The moth shall consume them.
9 Eis que o Senhor DEUS me ajudará. Quem é aquele que me condenará? Veja! Eles todos tornar-se-ão velhos como uma roupa. A traça os devorará inteiramente.
10 Who is there among you that feareth Jehovah, That hearkeneth to the voice of his servant, That walketh in darkness and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of Jehovah, And lean upon his God.
10 Quem é entre vós que teme ao SENHOR, que observa a voz de seu servo? Que anda nas trevas e não tem luz? Deixai-o confiar no nome do SENHOR e permanecer no seu Deus.
11 Behold, all ye who kindle a fire, Who gird yourselves with burning arrows! Walk ye in the light of your fire, And in the burning arrows which ye have kindled. This shall ye have from my hand; Ye shall lie down in sorrow.
11 Eis que, todos vós que acendeis um fogo, que circundais em torno de vós mesmos com faíscas. Andai na luz de vosso fogo e nas faíscas que vós tendes acendido. Isto vós tereis da minha mão; vós vos deitareis em tristeza.
