Isaías 42

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Behold my servant|strong="H5650", whom I uphold|strong="H8551"; mine elect|strong="H0972", in whom my soul|strong="H5315" delighteth|strong="H7521"; I have put|strong="H5414" my spirit|strong="H7307" upon him: he shall bring forth|strong="H3318" judgment|strong="H4941" to the Gentiles|strong="H1471".

He shall not cry|strong="H6817", nor lift up|strong="H5375", nor cause his voice|strong="H6963" to be heard|strong="H8085" in the street|strong="H2351".

A bruised|strong="H7533" reed|strong="H7070" shall he not break|strong="H7665", and the smoking|strong="H3544" flax|strong="H6594" shall he not quench|strong="H3518": he shall bring forth|strong="H3318" judgment|strong="H4941" unto truth|strong="H0571".

He shall not fail|strong="H3543" nor be discouraged|strong="H7533", till he have set|strong="H7760" judgment|strong="H4941" in the earth|strong="H0776": and the isles|strong="H0339" shall wait|strong="H3176" for his law|strong="H8451".

Thus saith|strong="H0559" God|strong="H0410" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, he that created|strong="H1254" the heavens|strong="H8064", and stretched them out|strong="H5186"; he that spread forth|strong="H7554" the earth|strong="H0776", and that which cometh out|strong="H6631" of it; he that giveth|strong="H5414" breath|strong="H5397" unto the people|strong="H5971" upon it, and spirit|strong="H7307" to them that walk|strong="H1980" therein:

I the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* have called|strong="H7121" thee in righteousness|strong="H6664", and will hold|strong="H2388" thine hand|strong="H3027", and will keep|strong="H5341" thee, and give|strong="H5414" thee for a covenant|strong="H1285" of the people|strong="H5971", for a light|strong="H0216" of the Gentiles|strong="H1471";

To open|strong="H6491" the blind|strong="H5787" eyes|strong="H5869", to bring out|strong="H3318" the prisoners|strong="H0616" from the prison|strong="H4525", and them that sit|strong="H3427" in darkness|strong="H2822" out of the prison|strong="H3608" house|strong="H1004".

I am the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: that is my name|strong="H8034": and my glory|strong="H3519" will I not give|strong="H5414" to another|strong="H0312", neither my praise|strong="H8416" to graven images|strong="H6456".

Behold, the former things|strong="H7223" are come to pass|strong="H0935", and new things|strong="H2319" do I declare|strong="H5046": before they spring forth|strong="H6779" I tell|strong="H8085" you of them.

Sing|strong="H7891" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* a new|strong="H2319" song|strong="H7892", and his praise|strong="H8416" from the end|strong="H7097" of the earth|strong="H0776", ye that go down|strong="H3381" to the sea|strong="H3220", and all that is therein|strong="H4393"; the isles|strong="H0339", and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" thereof.

Let the wilderness|strong="H4057" and the cities|strong="H5892" thereof lift up|strong="H5375" their voice, the villages|strong="H2691" that Kedar|strong="H6938" doth inhabit|strong="H3427": let the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of the rock|strong="H5553" sing|strong="H7442", let them shout|strong="H6681" from the top|strong="H7218" of the mountains|strong="H2022".

Let them give|strong="H7760" glory|strong="H3519" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and declare|strong="H5046" his praise|strong="H8416" in the islands|strong="H0339".

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall go forth|strong="H3318" as a mighty man|strong="H1368", he shall stir up|strong="H5782" jealousy|strong="H7068" like a man|strong="H0376" of war|strong="H4421": he shall cry|strong="H7321", yea, roar|strong="H6873"; he shall prevail|strong="H1396" against his enemies|strong="H0341".

I have long time|strong="H5769" holden my peace|strong="H2814"; I have been still|strong="H2790", and refrained|strong="H0662" myself: now will I cry|strong="H6463" like a travailing woman|strong="H3205"; I will destroy|strong="H5395" and devour|strong="H7602" at once|strong="H3162".

I will make waste|strong="H2717" mountains|strong="H2022" and hills|strong="H1389", and dry up|strong="H3001" all their herbs|strong="H6212"; and I will make|strong="H7760" the rivers|strong="H5104" islands|strong="H0339", and I will dry up|strong="H3001" the pools|strong="H0098".

And I will bring|strong="H3212" the blind|strong="H5787" by a way|strong="H1870" that they knew|strong="H3045" not; I will lead|strong="H1869" them in paths|strong="H5410" that they have not known|strong="H3045": I will make|strong="H7760" darkness|strong="H4285" light|strong="H0216" before|strong="H6440" them, and crooked things|strong="H4625" straight|strong="H4334". These things|strong="H1697" will I do|strong="H6213" unto them, and not forsake|strong="H5800" them.

They shall be turned|strong="H5472" back|strong="H0268", they shall be greatly|strong="H1322" ashamed|strong="H0954", that trust|strong="H0982" in graven images|strong="H6459", that say|strong="H0559" to the molten images|strong="H4541", Ye are our gods|strong="H0430".

Hear|strong="H8085", ye deaf|strong="H2795"; and look|strong="H5027", ye blind|strong="H5787", that ye may see|strong="H7200".

Who is blind|strong="H5787", but my servant|strong="H5650"? or deaf|strong="H2795", as my messenger|strong="H4397" that I sent|strong="H7971"? who is blind|strong="H5787" as he that is perfect|strong="H7999", and blind|strong="H5787" as the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* servant|strong="H5650"?

Seeing|strong="H7200" many things|strong="H7227", but thou observest|strong="H8104" not; opening|strong="H6491" the ears|strong="H0241", but he heareth|strong="H8085" not.

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is well pleased|strong="H2654" for his righteousness’|strong="H6664" sake; he will magnify|strong="H1431" the law|strong="H8451", and make it honourable|strong="H0142".

But this is a people|strong="H5971" robbed|strong="H0962" and spoiled|strong="H8154"; they are all of them snared|strong="H6351" in holes|strong="H2352", and they are hid|strong="H2244" in prison|strong="H3608" houses|strong="H1004": they are for a prey|strong="H0957", and none delivereth|strong="H5337"; for a spoil|strong="H4933", and none saith|strong="H0559", Restore|strong="H7725".

Who among you will give ear|strong="H0238" to this? who will hearken|strong="H7181" and hear|strong="H8085" for the time to come|strong="H0268"?

Who gave|strong="H5414" Jacob|strong="H3290" for a spoil|strong="H4933", and Israel|strong="H3478" to the robbers|strong="H0962"? did not the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, he against whom|strong="H2098" we have sinned|strong="H2398"? for they would|strong="H0014" not walk|strong="H1980" in his ways|strong="H1870", neither were they obedient|strong="H8085" unto his law|strong="H8451".

Therefore he hath poured|strong="H8210" upon him the fury|strong="H2534" of his anger|strong="H0639", and the strength|strong="H5807" of battle|strong="H4421": and it hath set him on fire|strong="H3857" round about|strong="H5439", yet he knew|strong="H3045" not; and it burned|strong="H1197" him, yet he laid|strong="H7760" it not to heart|strong="H3820".
