1 Then Joseph|strong="H3130" came|strong="H0935" and told|strong="H5046" Pharaoh|strong="H6547", and said|strong="H0559", My father|strong="H0001" and my brethren|strong="H0251", and their flocks|strong="H6629", and their herds|strong="H1241", and all that they have, are come out|strong="H0935" of the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667"; and, behold, they are in the land|strong="H0776" of Goshen|strong="H1657".
2 And he took|strong="H3947" some|strong="H7097" of his brethren|strong="H0251", even five|strong="H2568" men|strong="H0582", and presented|strong="H3322" them unto|strong="H6440" Pharaoh|strong="H6547".
3 And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559" unto his brethren|strong="H0251", What is your occupation|strong="H4639"? And they said|strong="H0559" unto Pharaoh|strong="H6547", Thy servants|strong="H5650" are shepherds|strong="H7462", both we, and also our fathers|strong="H0001".
4 They said|strong="H0559" moreover unto Pharaoh|strong="H6547", For to sojourn|strong="H1481" in the land|strong="H0776" are we come|strong="H0935"; for thy servants|strong="H5650" have no pasture|strong="H4829" for their flocks|strong="H6629"; for the famine|strong="H7458" is sore|strong="H3515" in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667": now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants|strong="H5650" dwell|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776" of Goshen|strong="H1657".
5 And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" spake|strong="H0559" unto Joseph|strong="H3130", saying|strong="H0559", Thy father|strong="H0001" and thy brethren|strong="H0251" are come|strong="H0935" unto thee:
6 The land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" is before thee|strong="H6440"; in the best|strong="H4315" of the land|strong="H0776" make|strong="H3427" thy father|strong="H0001" and brethren|strong="H0251" to dwell|strong="H3427"; in the land|strong="H0776" of Goshen|strong="H1657" let them dwell|strong="H3427": and if thou knowest|strong="H3045" any men|strong="H0582" of activity|strong="H2428" among them, then make them|strong="H7760" rulers|strong="H8269" over my cattle|strong="H4735".
7 And Joseph|strong="H3130" brought in|strong="H0935" Jacob|strong="H3290" his father|strong="H0001", and set him|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" Pharaoh|strong="H6547": and Jacob|strong="H3290" blessed|strong="H1288" Pharaoh|strong="H6547".
8 And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559" unto Jacob|strong="H3290", How|strong="H4100" old|strong="H2416" art thou?
9 And Jacob|strong="H3290" said|strong="H0559" unto Pharaoh|strong="H6547", The days|strong="H3117" of the years|strong="H8141" of my pilgrimage|strong="H4033" are an hundred|strong="H3967" and thirty|strong="H7970" years|strong="H8141": few|strong="H4592" and evil|strong="H7451" have the days|strong="H3117" of the years|strong="H8141" of my life|strong="H2416" been, and have not attained|strong="H5381" unto the days|strong="H3117" of the years|strong="H8141" of the life|strong="H2416" of my fathers|strong="H0001" in the days|strong="H3117" of their pilgrimage|strong="H4033".
10 And Jacob|strong="H3290" blessed|strong="H1288" Pharaoh|strong="H6547", and went out|strong="H3318" from before|strong="H6440" Pharaoh|strong="H6547".
11 And Joseph|strong="H3130" placed|strong="H3427" his father|strong="H0001" and his brethren|strong="H0251", and gave|strong="H5414" them a possession|strong="H0272" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", in the best|strong="H4315" of the land|strong="H0776", in the land|strong="H0776" of Rameses|strong="H7486", as Pharaoh|strong="H6547" had commanded|strong="H6680".
12 And Joseph|strong="H3130" nourished|strong="H3557" his father|strong="H0001", and his brethren|strong="H0251", and all his father’s|strong="H0001" household|strong="H1004", with bread|strong="H3899", according|strong="H6310" to their families|strong="H2945".
13 And there was no bread|strong="H3899" in all the land|strong="H0776"; for the famine|strong="H7458" was very|strong="H3966" sore|strong="H3515", so that the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" and all the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667" fainted|strong="H3856" by reason|strong="H6440" of the famine|strong="H7458".
14 And Joseph|strong="H3130" gathered up|strong="H3950" all the money|strong="H3701" that was found|strong="H4672" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", and in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", for the corn|strong="H7668" which they bought|strong="H7666": and Joseph|strong="H3130" brought|strong="H0935" the money|strong="H3701" into Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547" house|strong="H1004".
15 And when money|strong="H3701" failed|strong="H8552" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", and in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", all the Egyptians|strong="H4714" came|strong="H0935" unto Joseph|strong="H3130", and said|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H3051" us bread|strong="H3899": for why should we die|strong="H4191" in thy presence? for the money|strong="H3701" faileth|strong="H0656".
16 And Joseph|strong="H3130" said|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H3051" your cattle|strong="H4735"; and I will give|strong="H5414" you for your cattle|strong="H4735", if money|strong="H3701" fail|strong="H0656".
17 And they brought|strong="H0935" their cattle|strong="H4735" unto Joseph|strong="H3130": and Joseph|strong="H3130" gave|strong="H5414" them bread|strong="H3899" in exchange for horses|strong="H5483", and for the flocks|strong="H6629", and for the cattle|strong="H4735" of the herds|strong="H1241", and for the asses|strong="H2543": and he fed|strong="H5095" them with bread|strong="H3899" for all their cattle|strong="H4735" for that year|strong="H8141".
18 When that year|strong="H8141" was ended|strong="H8552", they came|strong="H0935" unto him the second|strong="H8145" year|strong="H8141", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, We will not hide|strong="H3582" it from my lord|strong="H0113", how that our money|strong="H3701" is spent|strong="H8552"; my lord|strong="H0113" also hath|strong="H0413" our herds|strong="H4735" of cattle|strong="H0929"; there is not ought left|strong="H7604" in the sight|strong="H6440" of my lord|strong="H0113", but our bodies|strong="H1472", and our lands|strong="H0127":
19 Wherefore shall we die|strong="H4191" before thine eyes|strong="H5869", both we and our land|strong="H0127"? buy|strong="H7069" us and our land|strong="H0127" for bread|strong="H3899", and we and our land|strong="H0127" will be servants|strong="H5650" unto Pharaoh|strong="H6547": and give|strong="H5414" us seed|strong="H2233", that we may live|strong="H2421", and not die|strong="H4191", that the land|strong="H0127" be not desolate|strong="H3456".
20 And Joseph|strong="H3130" bought|strong="H7069" all the land|strong="H0127" of Egypt|strong="H4714" for Pharaoh|strong="H6547"; for the Egyptians|strong="H4714" sold|strong="H4376" every man|strong="H0376" his field|strong="H7704", because the famine|strong="H7458" prevailed|strong="H2388" over them: so the land|strong="H0776" became Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547".
21 And as for the people|strong="H5971", he removed|strong="H5674" them to cities|strong="H5892" from one end|strong="H7097" of the borders|strong="H1366" of Egypt|strong="H4714" even to the other end|strong="H7097" thereof.
22 Only the land|strong="H0127" of the priests|strong="H3548" bought he|strong="H7069" not; for the priests|strong="H3548" had a portion|strong="H2706" assigned them of Pharaoh|strong="H6547", and did eat|strong="H0398" their portion|strong="H2706" which Pharaoh|strong="H6547" gave|strong="H5414" them: wherefore they sold|strong="H4376" not their lands|strong="H0127".
23 Then Joseph|strong="H3130" said|strong="H0559" unto the people|strong="H5971", Behold, I have bought|strong="H7069" you this day|strong="H3117" and your land|strong="H0127" for Pharaoh|strong="H6547": lo|strong="H1887", here is seed|strong="H2233" for you, and ye shall sow|strong="H2232" the land|strong="H0127".
24 And it shall come to pass in the increase|strong="H8393", that ye shall give|strong="H5414" the fifth|strong="H2549" part unto Pharaoh|strong="H6547", and four|strong="H0702" parts|strong="H3027" shall be your own, for seed|strong="H2233" of the field|strong="H7704", and for your food|strong="H0400", and for them of your households|strong="H1004", and for food|strong="H0398" for your little ones|strong="H2945".
25 And they said|strong="H0559", Thou hast saved our lives|strong="H2421": let us find|strong="H4672" grace|strong="H2580" in the sight|strong="H5869" of my lord|strong="H0113", and we will be Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547" servants|strong="H5650".
26 And Joseph|strong="H3130" made|strong="H7760" it a law|strong="H2706" over the land|strong="H0127" of Egypt|strong="H4714" unto this day|strong="H3117", that Pharaoh|strong="H6547" should have the fifth|strong="H2569" part; except|strong="H7535" the land|strong="H0127" of the priests|strong="H3548" only, which became not Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547".
27 And Israel|strong="H3478" dwelt|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", in the country|strong="H0776" of Goshen|strong="H1657"; and they had possessions|strong="H0270" therein, and grew|strong="H6509", and multiplied|strong="H7235" exceedingly|strong="H3966".
28 And Jacob|strong="H3290" lived|strong="H2421" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" seventeen|strong="H6240" years|strong="H8141": so the whole age|strong="H2416" of Jacob|strong="H3290" was an hundred|strong="H3967" forty|strong="H0705" and seven|strong="H7651" years|strong="H8141".
29 And the time|strong="H3117" drew nigh|strong="H7126" that Israel|strong="H3478" must die|strong="H4191": and he called|strong="H7121" his son|strong="H1121" Joseph|strong="H3130", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, If now I have found|strong="H4672" grace|strong="H2580" in thy sight|strong="H5869", put|strong="H7760", I pray thee, thy hand|strong="H3027" under my thigh|strong="H3409", and deal|strong="H6213" kindly|strong="H2617" and truly|strong="H0571" with me; bury|strong="H6912" me not, I pray thee, in Egypt|strong="H4714":
30 But I will lie|strong="H7901" with my fathers|strong="H0001", and thou shalt carry|strong="H5375" me out of Egypt|strong="H4714", and bury|strong="H6912" me in their buryingplace|strong="H6900". And he said|strong="H0559", I will do|strong="H6213" as thou hast said|strong="H1697".
31 And he said|strong="H0559", Swear|strong="H7650" unto me. And he sware|strong="H7650" unto him. And Israel|strong="H3478" bowed|strong="H7812" himself upon the bed’s|strong="H4296" head|strong="H7218".
