After|strong="H0310" these things|strong="H1697" did king|strong="H4428" Ahasuerus|strong="H0325" promote|strong="H1431" Haman|strong="H2001" the son|strong="H1121" of Hammedatha|strong="H4099" the Agagite|strong="H0091", and advanced|strong="H5375" him, and set|strong="H7760" his seat|strong="H3678" above all the princes|strong="H8269" that were with him.
And all the king’s|strong="H4428" servants|strong="H5650", that were in the king’s|strong="H4428" gate|strong="H8179", bowed|strong="H3766", and reverenced|strong="H7812" Haman|strong="H2001": for the king|strong="H4428" had so commanded|strong="H6680" concerning him. But Mordecai|strong="H4782" bowed|strong="H3766" not, nor did him reverence|strong="H7812".
Then the king’s|strong="H4428" servants|strong="H5650", which were in the king’s|strong="H4428" gate|strong="H8179", said|strong="H0559" unto Mordecai|strong="H4782", Why transgressest|strong="H5674" thou the king’s|strong="H4428" commandment|strong="H4687"?
Now it came to pass, when they spake|strong="H0559" daily|strong="H3117" unto him, and he hearkened|strong="H8085" not unto them, that they told|strong="H5046" Haman|strong="H2001", to see|strong="H7200" whether Mordecai’s|strong="H4782" matters|strong="H1697" would stand|strong="H5975": for he had told|strong="H5046" them that he was a Jew|strong="H3064".
And when Haman|strong="H2001" saw|strong="H7200" that Mordecai|strong="H4782" bowed|strong="H3766" not, nor did him reverence|strong="H7812", then was Haman|strong="H2001" full|strong="H4390" of wrath|strong="H2534".
And he thought|strong="H5869" scorn|strong="H0959" to lay|strong="H7971" hands|strong="H3027" on Mordecai|strong="H4782" alone; for they had shewed|strong="H5046" him the people|strong="H5971" of Mordecai|strong="H4782": wherefore Haman|strong="H2001" sought|strong="H1245" to destroy|strong="H8045" all the Jews|strong="H3064" that were throughout the whole kingdom|strong="H4438" of Ahasuerus|strong="H0325", even the people|strong="H5971" of Mordecai|strong="H4782".
In the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320", that is, the month|strong="H2320" Nisan|strong="H5212", in the twelfth|strong="H8147" year|strong="H8141" of king|strong="H4428" Ahasuerus|strong="H0325", they cast|strong="H5307" Pur|strong="H6332", that is, the lot|strong="H1486", before|strong="H6440" Haman|strong="H2001" from day|strong="H3117" to day|strong="H3117", and from month|strong="H2320" to month|strong="H2320", to the twelfth|strong="H8147" month, that is, the month|strong="H2320" Adar|strong="H0143".
And Haman|strong="H2001" said|strong="H0559" unto king|strong="H4428" Ahasuerus|strong="H0325", There is|strong="H3426" a certain|strong="H0259" people|strong="H5971" scattered abroad|strong="H6340" and dispersed|strong="H6504" among the people|strong="H5971" in all the provinces|strong="H4082" of thy kingdom|strong="H4438"; and their laws|strong="H1881" are diverse|strong="H8138" from all people|strong="H5971"; neither keep|strong="H6213" they the king’s|strong="H4428" laws|strong="H1881": therefore it is not for the king’s|strong="H4428" profit|strong="H7737" to suffer|strong="H3240" them.
If it please|strong="H2895" the king|strong="H4428", let it be written|strong="H3789" that they may be destroyed|strong="H0006": and I will pay|strong="H8254" ten|strong="H6235" thousand|strong="H0505" talents|strong="H3603" of silver|strong="H3701" to the hands|strong="H3027" of those that have the charge|strong="H6213" of the business|strong="H4399", to bring|strong="H0935" it into the king’s|strong="H4428" treasuries|strong="H1595".
And the king|strong="H4428" took|strong="H5493" his ring|strong="H2885" from his hand|strong="H3027", and gave|strong="H5414" it unto Haman|strong="H2001" the son|strong="H1121" of Hammedatha|strong="H4099" the Agagite|strong="H0091", the Jews’|strong="H3064" enemy|strong="H6887".
And the king|strong="H4428" said|strong="H0559" unto Haman|strong="H2001", The silver|strong="H3701" is given|strong="H5414" to thee, the people|strong="H5971" also, to do|strong="H6213" with them as it seemeth|strong="H5869" good|strong="H2896" to thee.
Then were the king’s|strong="H4428" scribes|strong="H5608" called|strong="H7121" on the thirteenth|strong="H7969" day|strong="H3117" of the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320", and there was written|strong="H3789" according to all that Haman|strong="H2001" had commanded|strong="H6680" unto the king’s|strong="H4428" lieutenants|strong="H0323", and to the governors|strong="H6346" that were over every province|strong="H4082", and to the rulers|strong="H8269" of every people|strong="H5971" of every province|strong="H4082" according to the writing|strong="H3791" thereof, and to every people|strong="H5971" after their language|strong="H3956"; in the name|strong="H8034" of king|strong="H4428" Ahasuerus|strong="H0325" was it written|strong="H3789", and sealed|strong="H2856" with the king’s|strong="H4428" ring|strong="H2885".
And the letters|strong="H5612" were sent|strong="H7971" by|strong="H3027" posts|strong="H7323" into all the king’s|strong="H4428" provinces|strong="H4082", to destroy|strong="H8045", to kill|strong="H2026", and to cause to perish|strong="H0006", all Jews|strong="H3064", both young|strong="H5288" and old|strong="H2205", little children|strong="H2945" and women|strong="H0802", in one|strong="H0259" day|strong="H3117", even upon the thirteenth|strong="H7969" day of the twelfth|strong="H8147" month|strong="H2320", which is the month|strong="H2320" Adar|strong="H0143", and to take the spoil|strong="H7998" of them for a prey|strong="H0962".
The copy|strong="H6572" of the writing|strong="H3791" for a commandment|strong="H1881" to be given|strong="H5414" in every province|strong="H4082" was published|strong="H1540" unto all people|strong="H5971", that they should be ready|strong="H6264" against that day|strong="H3117".
The posts|strong="H7323" went out|strong="H3318", being hastened|strong="H1765" by the king’s|strong="H4428" commandment|strong="H1697", and the decree|strong="H1881" was given|strong="H5414" in Shushan|strong="H7800" the palace|strong="H1002". And the king|strong="H4428" and Haman|strong="H2001" sat down|strong="H3427" to drink|strong="H8354"; but the city|strong="H5892" Shushan|strong="H7800" was perplexed|strong="H0943".
