1 Now when Ezra|strong="H5830" had prayed|strong="H6419", and when he had confessed|strong="H3034", weeping|strong="H1058" and casting himself down|strong="H5307" before|strong="H6440" the house|strong="H1004" of God|strong="H0430", there assembled|strong="H6908" unto him out of Israel|strong="H3478" a very|strong="H3966" great|strong="H7227" congregation|strong="H6951" of men|strong="H0582" and women|strong="H0802" and children|strong="H3206": for the people|strong="H5971" wept|strong="H1058" very|strong="H7235" sore|strong="H1059".
1 Enquanto Esdras orava e fazia confissão, chorando prostrado diante da Casa de Deus, uma enorme congregação de israelitas — homens, mulheres e crianças — se reuniu em volta dele. E o povo chorava amargamente.
2 And Shechaniah|strong="H7935" the son|strong="H1121" of Jehiel|strong="H3171", one of the sons|strong="H1121" of Elam|strong="H5867", answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559" unto Ezra|strong="H5830", We have trespassed|strong="H4603" against our God|strong="H0430", and have taken|strong="H3427" strange|strong="H5237" wives|strong="H0802" of the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776": yet now there is|strong="H3426" hope|strong="H4723" in Israel|strong="H3478" concerning this thing.
2 Então Secanias, filho de Jeiel, um dos filhos de Elão, tomou a palavra e disse a Esdras: — Nós temos transgredido contra o nosso Deus, casando com mulheres estrangeiras, que pertencem aos povos desta terra. Mas, quanto a isto, ainda há esperança para Israel.
3 Now therefore let us make|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with our God|strong="H0430" to put away|strong="H3318" all the wives|strong="H0802", and such as are born|strong="H3205" of them, according to the counsel|strong="H6098" of my lord|strong="H0136", and of those that tremble|strong="H2730" at the commandment|strong="H4687" of our God|strong="H0430"; and let it be done|strong="H6213" according to the law|strong="H8451".
3 Façamos agora uma aliança com o nosso Deus, de que despediremos todas essas mulheres e os seus filhos, segundo o conselho do meu senhor e dos que tremem diante do mandamento do nosso Deus. Que se faça segundo a Lei.
4 Arise|strong="H6965"; for this matter|strong="H1697" belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage|strong="H2388", and do|strong="H6213" it.
4 Levante-se, pois isto é incumbência sua, e nós o apoiaremos. Seja forte e mãos à obra!
5 Then arose|strong="H6965" Ezra|strong="H5830", and made the chief|strong="H8269" priests|strong="H3548", the Levites|strong="H3881", and all Israel|strong="H3478", to swear|strong="H7650" that they should do|strong="H6213" according to this word|strong="H1697". And they sware|strong="H7650".
5 Então Esdras se levantou e fez com que os principais sacerdotes, os levitas e todo o Israel jurassem que fariam segundo esta palavra. E eles juraram.
6 Then Ezra|strong="H5830" rose up|strong="H6965" from before|strong="H6440" the house|strong="H1004" of God|strong="H0430", and went|strong="H3212" into the chamber|strong="H3957" of Johanan|strong="H3076" the son|strong="H1121" of Eliashib|strong="H0475": and when he came|strong="H3212" thither, he did eat|strong="H0398" no bread|strong="H3899", nor drink|strong="H8354" water|strong="H4325": for he mourned|strong="H0056" because of the transgression|strong="H4604" of them that had been carried away|strong="H1473".
6 Esdras se retirou de onde estava, diante da Casa de Deus, e foi para a câmara de Joanã, filho de Eliasibe. Ao entrar ali, não comeu pão nem bebeu água, porque pranteava por causa da infidelidade dos que tinham voltado do exílio.
7 And they made proclamation|strong="H5674" throughout Judah|strong="H3063" and Jerusalem|strong="H3389" unto all the children|strong="H1121" of the captivity|strong="H1473", that they should gather themselves together|strong="H6908" unto Jerusalem|strong="H3389";
7 Depois anunciaram em Judá e Jerusalém que todos os que tinham voltado do exílio deviam se reunir em Jerusalém
8 And that whosoever would not come|strong="H0935" within three|strong="H7969" days|strong="H3117", according to the counsel|strong="H6098" of the princes|strong="H8269" and the elders|strong="H2205", all his substance|strong="H7399" should be forfeited|strong="H2763", and himself separated|strong="H0914" from the congregation|strong="H6951" of those that had been carried away|strong="H1473".
8 e que, se alguém, em três dias, não viesse, segundo o conselho dos chefes e dos anciãos, todos os seus bens seriam totalmente destruídos, e ele mesmo seria excluído da congregação dos que voltaram do exílio.
9 Then all the men|strong="H0582" of Judah|strong="H3063" and Benjamin|strong="H1144" gathered themselves together|strong="H6908" unto Jerusalem|strong="H3389" within three|strong="H7969" days|strong="H3117". It was the ninth|strong="H8671" month|strong="H2320", on the twentieth|strong="H6242" day of the month|strong="H2320"; and all the people|strong="H5971" sat|strong="H3427" in the street|strong="H7339" of the house|strong="H1004" of God|strong="H0430", trembling|strong="H7460" because of this matter|strong="H1697", and for the great rain|strong="H1653".
9 Então todos os homens de Judá e Benjamim, em três dias, se reuniram em Jerusalém. No dia vinte do nono mês, todo o povo se assentou na praça da Casa de Deus, tremendo por causa daquele assunto e por causa da chuva intensa.
10 And Ezra|strong="H5830" the priest|strong="H3548" stood up|strong="H6965", and said|strong="H0559" unto them, Ye have transgressed|strong="H4603", and have taken|strong="H3427" strange|strong="H5237" wives|strong="H0802", to increase|strong="H3254" the trespass|strong="H0819" of Israel|strong="H3478".
10 Então o sacerdote Esdras se levantou e lhes disse: — Vocês foram infiéis, casando com mulheres estrangeiras, aumentando a culpa de Israel.
11 Now therefore make|strong="H5414" confession|strong="H8426" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of your fathers|strong="H0001", and do|strong="H6213" his pleasure|strong="H7522": and separate|strong="H0914" yourselves from the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776", and from the strange|strong="H5237" wives|strong="H0802".
11 Portanto, façam confissão ao Senhor , Deus dos seus pais, e façam o que lhe agrada. Separem-se dos povos desta terra e das mulheres estrangeiras.
12 Then all the congregation|strong="H6951" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559" with a loud|strong="H1419" voice|strong="H6963", As thou hast said|strong="H1697", so must we do|strong="H6213".
12 E toda a congregação respondeu em voz alta: — Que assim seja! Faremos segundo as suas palavras.
13 But|strong="H0061" the people|strong="H5971" are many|strong="H7227", and it is a time|strong="H6256" of much rain|strong="H1653", and we are not able|strong="H3581" to stand|strong="H5975" without|strong="H2351", neither is this a work|strong="H4399" of one|strong="H0259" day|strong="H3117" or two|strong="H8147": for we are many|strong="H7235" that have transgressed|strong="H6586" in this thing|strong="H1697".
13 Porém o povo é muito e, sendo a época das chuvas, não podemos ficar aqui do lado de fora. E isto não é coisa que se faça em um ou dois dias, pois somos muitos os que transgredimos neste assunto.
14 Let now our rulers|strong="H8269" of all the congregation|strong="H6951" stand|strong="H5975", and let all them which have taken|strong="H3427" strange|strong="H5237" wives|strong="H0802" in our cities|strong="H5892" come|strong="H0935" at appointed|strong="H2163" times|strong="H6256", and with them the elders|strong="H2205" of every city|strong="H5892", and the judges|strong="H8199" thereof, until the fierce|strong="H2740" wrath|strong="H0639" of our God|strong="H0430" for this matter|strong="H1697" be turned|strong="H7725" from us.
14 Que os nossos chefes decidam por toda a congregação, e que todos os que em nossas cidades casaram com mulheres estrangeiras venham a eles num dia marcado, acompanhados dos anciãos e dos juízes de cada cidade, até que se afaste de nós o furor da ira do nosso Deus, por causa desta situação.
15 Only Jonathan|strong="H3129" the son|strong="H1121" of Asahel|strong="H6214" and Jahaziah|strong="H3167" the son|strong="H1121" of Tikvah|strong="H8616" were employed|strong="H5975" about this matter: and Meshullam|strong="H4918" and Shabbethai|strong="H7678" the Levite|strong="H3881" helped|strong="H5826" them.
15 Apenas Jônatas, filho de Asael, e Jazeías, filho de Ticvá, se opuseram a isso, apoiados por Mesulão e pelo levita Sabetai.
16 And the children|strong="H1121" of the captivity|strong="H1473" did so|strong="H6213". And Ezra|strong="H5830" the priest|strong="H3548", with certain|strong="H0582" chief|strong="H7218" of the fathers|strong="H0001", after the house|strong="H1004" of their fathers|strong="H0001", and all of them by their names|strong="H8034", were separated|strong="H0914", and sat down|strong="H3427" in the first|strong="H0259" day|strong="H3117" of the tenth|strong="H6224" month|strong="H2320" to examine|strong="H1875" the matter|strong="H1697".
16 Os que voltaram do exílio fizeram assim. Então o sacerdote Esdras escolheu nominalmente os chefes de famílias, segundo a casa de seus pais; e se sentaram no primeiro dia do décimo mês para examinar essa questão.
17 And they made an end|strong="H3615" with all the men|strong="H0582" that had taken|strong="H3427" strange|strong="H5237" wives|strong="H0802" by the first|strong="H0259" day|strong="H3117" of the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320".
17 E, no primeiro dia do primeiro mês, concluíram o exame de todos os casos de homens que haviam casado com mulheres estrangeiras.
18 And among the sons|strong="H1121" of the priests|strong="H3548" there were found|strong="H4672" that had taken|strong="H3427" strange|strong="H5237" wives|strong="H0802": namely, of the sons|strong="H1121" of Jeshua|strong="H3442" the son|strong="H1121" of Jozadak|strong="H3136", and his brethren|strong="H0251"; Maaseiah|strong="H4641", and Eliezer|strong="H0461", and Jarib|strong="H3402", and Gedaliah|strong="H1436".
18 Dentre os filhos dos sacerdotes, foram encontrados os seguintes que tinham casado com mulheres estrangeiras: dos filhos de Jesua, filho de Jozadaque, e de seus irmãos: Maaseias, Eliézer, Jaribe e Gedalias.
19 And they gave|strong="H5414" their hands|strong="H3027" that they would put away|strong="H3318" their wives|strong="H0802"; and being guilty|strong="H0818", they offered a ram|strong="H0352" of the flock|strong="H6629" for their trespass|strong="H0819".
19 Com um aperto de mão, prometeram mandar embora as suas mulheres e, por serem culpados, ofereceram um carneiro do rebanho pela sua culpa.
20 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Immer|strong="H0564"; Hanani|strong="H2607", and Zebadiah|strong="H2069".
20 Dos filhos de Imer: Hanani e Zebadias.
21 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Harim|strong="H2766"; Maaseiah|strong="H4641", and Elijah|strong="H0452", and Shemaiah|strong="H8098", and Jehiel|strong="H3171", and Uzziah|strong="H5818".
21 Dos filhos de Harim: Maaseias, Elias, Semaías, Jeiel e Uzias.
22 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Pashur|strong="H6583"; Elioenai|strong="H0454", Maaseiah|strong="H4641", Ishmael|strong="H3458", Nethaneel|strong="H5417", Jozabad|strong="H3107", and Elasah|strong="H0501".
22 Dos filhos de Pasur: Elioenai, Maaseias, Ismael, Natanael, Jozabade e Elasa.
23 Also of the Levites|strong="H3881"; Jozabad|strong="H3107", and Shimei|strong="H8096", and Kelaiah|strong="H7041", (the same is Kelita|strong="H7042",) Pethahiah|strong="H6611", Judah|strong="H3063", and Eliezer|strong="H0461".
23 Dos levitas: Jozabade e Simei, Quelaías, também chamado de Quelita, Petaías, Judá e Eliézer.
24 Of the singers|strong="H7891" also; Eliashib|strong="H0475": and of the porters|strong="H7778"; Shallum|strong="H7967", and Telem|strong="H2928", and Uri|strong="H0221".
24 Dos cantores: Eliasibe; dos porteiros: Salum, Telém e Uri.
25 Moreover of Israel|strong="H3478": of the sons|strong="H1121" of Parosh|strong="H6551"; Ramiah|strong="H7422", and Jeziah|strong="H3150", and Malchiah|strong="H4441", and Miamin|strong="H4326", and Eleazar|strong="H0499", and Malchijah|strong="H4441", and Benaiah|strong="H1141".
25 E de Israel, dos filhos de Parós: Ramias, Jezias, Malquias, Miamim, Eleazar, Malquias e Benaia.
26 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Elam|strong="H5867"; Mattaniah|strong="H4983", Zechariah|strong="H2148", and Jehiel|strong="H3171", and Abdi|strong="H5660", and Jeremoth|strong="H3406", and Eliah|strong="H0452".
26 Dos filhos de Elão: Matanias, Zacarias, Jeiel, Abdi, Jerimote e Elias.
27 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Zattu|strong="H2240"; Elioenai|strong="H0454", Eliashib|strong="H0475", Mattaniah|strong="H4983", and Jeremoth|strong="H3406", and Zabad|strong="H2066", and Aziza|strong="H5819".
27 Dos filhos de Zatu: Elioenai, Eliasibe, Matanias, Jerimote, Zabade e Aziza.
28 Of the sons|strong="H1121" also of Bebai|strong="H0893"; Jehohanan|strong="H3076", Hananiah|strong="H2608", Zabbai|strong="H2140", and Athlai|strong="H6270".

29 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Bani|strong="H1137"; Meshullam|strong="H4918", Malluch|strong="H4409", and Adaiah|strong="H5718", Jashub|strong="H3437", and Sheal|strong="H7594", and Ramoth|strong="H7433".

30 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Pahath-moab|strong="H6355"; Adna|strong="H5733", and Chelal|strong="H3636", Benaiah|strong="H1141", Maaseiah|strong="H4641", Mattaniah|strong="H4983", Bezaleel|strong="H1212", and Binnui|strong="H1131", and Manasseh|strong="H4519".
30 Dos filhos de Paate-Moabe: Adna, Quelal, Benaia, Maaseias, Matanias, Bezalel, Binui e Manassés.
31 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Harim|strong="H2766"; Eliezer|strong="H0461", Ishijah|strong="H3449", Malchiah|strong="H4441", Shemaiah|strong="H8098", Shimeon|strong="H8095",

44 Todos estes tinham casado com mulheres estrangeiras, e alguns deles tinham filhos destas mulheres.
