Daniel 9

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

In the first|strong="H0259" year|strong="H8141" of Darius|strong="H1867" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahasuerus|strong="H0325", of the seed|strong="H2233" of the Medes|strong="H4074", which was made king|strong="H4427" over the realm|strong="H4438" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778";

In the first|strong="H0259" year|strong="H8141" of his reign|strong="H4427" I Daniel|strong="H1840" understood|strong="H0995" by books|strong="H5612" the number|strong="H4557" of the years|strong="H8141", whereof the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came to Jeremiah|strong="H3414" the prophet|strong="H5030", that he would accomplish|strong="H4390" seventy|strong="H7657" years|strong="H8141" in the desolations|strong="H2723" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

And I set|strong="H5414" my face|strong="H6440" unto the Lord|strong="H0136" God|strong="H0430", to seek|strong="H1245" by prayer|strong="H8605" and supplications|strong="H8469", with fasting|strong="H6685", and sackcloth|strong="H8242", and ashes|strong="H0665":

And I prayed|strong="H6419" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430", and made my confession|strong="H3034", and said|strong="H0559", O|strong="H0577" Lord|strong="H0136", the great|strong="H1419" and dreadful|strong="H3372" God|strong="H0410", keeping|strong="H8104" the covenant|strong="H1285" and mercy|strong="H2617" to them that love|strong="H0157" him, and to them that keep|strong="H8104" his commandments|strong="H4687";

We have sinned|strong="H2398", and have committed iniquity|strong="H5753", and have done wickedly|strong="H7561", and have rebelled|strong="H4775", even by departing|strong="H5493" from thy precepts|strong="H4687" and from thy judgments|strong="H4941":

Neither have we hearkened|strong="H8085" unto thy servants|strong="H5650" the prophets|strong="H5030", which spake|strong="H1696" in thy name|strong="H8034" to our kings|strong="H4428", our princes|strong="H8269", and our fathers|strong="H0001", and to all the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776".

O Lord|strong="H0136", righteousness|strong="H6666" belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion|strong="H1322" of faces|strong="H6440", as at this day|strong="H3117"; to the men|strong="H0376" of Judah|strong="H3063", and to the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and unto all Israel|strong="H3478", that are near|strong="H7138", and that are far off|strong="H7350", through all the countries|strong="H0776" whither thou hast driven|strong="H5080" them, because of their trespass|strong="H4604" that they have trespassed|strong="H4603" against thee.

O Lord|strong="H0136", to us belongeth confusion|strong="H1322" of face|strong="H6440", to our kings|strong="H4428", to our princes|strong="H8269", and to our fathers|strong="H0001", because we have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee.

To the Lord|strong="H0136" our God|strong="H0430" belong mercies|strong="H7356" and forgivenesses|strong="H5547", though we have rebelled|strong="H4775" against him;

Neither have we obeyed|strong="H8085" the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", to walk|strong="H3212" in his laws|strong="H8451", which he set|strong="H5414" before|strong="H6440" us by|strong="H3027" his servants|strong="H5650" the prophets|strong="H5030".

Yea, all Israel|strong="H3478" have transgressed|strong="H5674" thy law|strong="H8451", even by departing|strong="H5493", that they might not obey|strong="H8085" thy voice|strong="H6963"; therefore the curse|strong="H0423" is poured|strong="H5413" upon us, and the oath|strong="H7621" that is written|strong="H3789" in the law|strong="H8451" of Moses|strong="H4872" the servant|strong="H5650" of God|strong="H0430", because we have sinned|strong="H2398" against him.

And he hath confirmed|strong="H6965" his words|strong="H1697", which he spake|strong="H1696" against us, and against our judges|strong="H8199" that judged|strong="H8199" us, by bringing|strong="H0935" upon us a great|strong="H1419" evil|strong="H7451": for under the whole heaven|strong="H8064" hath not been done|strong="H6213" as hath been done|strong="H6213" upon Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

As it is written|strong="H3789" in the law|strong="H8451" of Moses|strong="H4872", all this evil|strong="H7451" is come|strong="H0935" upon us: yet made we not our prayer|strong="H2470" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", that we might turn|strong="H7725" from our iniquities|strong="H5771", and understand|strong="H7919" thy truth|strong="H0571".

Therefore hath the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* watched|strong="H8245" upon the evil|strong="H7451", and brought|strong="H0935" it upon us: for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" is righteous|strong="H6662" in all his works|strong="H4639" which he doeth|strong="H6213": for we obeyed|strong="H8085" not his voice|strong="H6963".

And now, O Lord|strong="H0136" our God|strong="H0430", that hast brought|strong="H3318" thy people|strong="H5971" forth|strong="H3318" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" with a mighty|strong="H2389" hand|strong="H3027", and hast gotten|strong="H6213" thee renown|strong="H8034", as at this day|strong="H3117"; we have sinned|strong="H2398", we have done wickedly|strong="H7561".

O Lord|strong="H0136", according to all thy righteousness|strong="H6666", I beseech thee, let thine anger|strong="H0639" and thy fury|strong="H2534" be turned away|strong="H7725" from thy city|strong="H5892" Jerusalem|strong="H3389", thy holy|strong="H6944" mountain|strong="H2022": because for our sins|strong="H2399", and for the iniquities|strong="H5771" of our fathers|strong="H0001", Jerusalem|strong="H3389" and thy people|strong="H5971" are become a reproach|strong="H2781" to all that are about|strong="H5439" us.

Now therefore, O our God|strong="H0430", hear|strong="H8085" the prayer|strong="H8605" of thy servant|strong="H5650", and his supplications|strong="H8469", and cause thy face|strong="H6440" to shine|strong="H0215" upon thy sanctuary|strong="H4720" that is desolate|strong="H8076", for the Lord’s|strong="H0136" sake.

O my God|strong="H0430", incline|strong="H5186" thine ear|strong="H0241", and hear|strong="H8085"; open|strong="H6491" thine eyes|strong="H5869", and behold|strong="H7200" our desolations|strong="H8074", and the city|strong="H5892" which is called|strong="H7121" by thy name|strong="H8034": for we do not present|strong="H5307" our supplications|strong="H8469" before|strong="H6440" thee for our righteousnesses|strong="H6666", but for thy great|strong="H7227" mercies|strong="H7356".

O Lord|strong="H0136", hear|strong="H8085"; O Lord|strong="H0136", forgive|strong="H5545"; O Lord|strong="H0136", hearken|strong="H7181" and do|strong="H6213"; defer|strong="H0309" not|strong="H0408", for thine own sake, O my God|strong="H0430": for thy city|strong="H5892" and thy people|strong="H5971" are called|strong="H7121" by thy name|strong="H8034".

And whiles I was speaking|strong="H1696", and praying|strong="H6419", and confessing|strong="H3034" my sin|strong="H2403" and the sin|strong="H2403" of my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", and presenting|strong="H5307" my supplication|strong="H8467" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430" for the holy|strong="H6944" mountain|strong="H2022" of my God|strong="H0430";

Yea, whiles I was speaking|strong="H1696" in prayer|strong="H8605", even the man|strong="H0376" Gabriel|strong="H1403", whom I had seen|strong="H7200" in the vision|strong="H2377" at the beginning|strong="H8462", being caused to fly|strong="H3286" swiftly|strong="H3288", touched|strong="H5060" me about the time|strong="H6256" of the evening|strong="H6153" oblation|strong="H4503".

And he informed|strong="H0995" me, and talked|strong="H1696" with me, and said|strong="H0559", O Daniel|strong="H1840", I am now come forth|strong="H3318" to give thee skill|strong="H7919" and understanding|strong="H0998".

At the beginning|strong="H8462" of thy supplications|strong="H8469" the commandment|strong="H1697" came forth|strong="H3318", and I am come|strong="H0935" to shew|strong="H5046" thee; for thou art greatly beloved|strong="H2532": therefore understand|strong="H0995" the matter|strong="H1697", and consider|strong="H0995" the vision|strong="H4758".

Seventy|strong="H7657" weeks|strong="H7620" are determined|strong="H2852" upon thy people|strong="H5971" and upon thy holy|strong="H6944" city|strong="H5892", to finish|strong="H3607" the transgression|strong="H6588", and to make an end|strong="H8552" of sins|strong="H2403", and to make reconciliation|strong="H3722" for iniquity|strong="H5771", and to bring in|strong="H0935" everlasting|strong="H5769" righteousness|strong="H6664", and to seal up|strong="H2856" the vision|strong="H2377" and prophecy|strong="H5030", and to anoint|strong="H4886" the most|strong="H6944" Holy|strong="H6944".

Know|strong="H3045" therefore and understand|strong="H7919", that from the going forth|strong="H4161" of the commandment|strong="H1697" to restore|strong="H7725" and to build|strong="H1129" Jerusalem|strong="H3389" unto the Messiah|strong="H4899" the Prince|strong="H5057" shall be seven|strong="H7651" weeks|strong="H7620", and threescore|strong="H8346" and two|strong="H8147" weeks|strong="H7620": the street|strong="H7339" shall be built|strong="H1129" again|strong="H7725", and the wall|strong="H2742", even in troublous|strong="H6695" times|strong="H6256".

And after|strong="H0310" threescore|strong="H8346" and two|strong="H8147" weeks|strong="H7620" shall Messiah|strong="H4899" be cut off|strong="H3772", but not for himself: and the people|strong="H5971" of the prince|strong="H5057" that shall come|strong="H0935" shall destroy|strong="H7843" the city|strong="H5892" and the sanctuary|strong="H6944"; and the end|strong="H7093" thereof shall be with a flood|strong="H7858", and unto the end|strong="H7093" of the war|strong="H4421" desolations|strong="H8074" are determined|strong="H2782".

And he shall confirm|strong="H1396" the covenant|strong="H1285" with many|strong="H7227" for one|strong="H0259" week|strong="H7620": and in the midst|strong="H2677" of the week|strong="H7620" he shall cause the sacrifice|strong="H2077" and the oblation|strong="H4503" to cease|strong="H7673", and for the overspreading|strong="H3671" of abominations|strong="H8251" he shall make it desolate|strong="H8074", even until the consummation|strong="H3617", and that determined|strong="H2782" shall be poured|strong="H5413" upon the desolate|strong="H8074".
