2 Reis 2

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 And it came to pass, when the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* would take up|strong="H5927" Elijah|strong="H0452" into heaven|strong="H8064" by a whirlwind|strong="H5591", that Elijah|strong="H0452" went|strong="H3212" with Elisha|strong="H0477" from Gilgal|strong="H1537".

2 And Elijah|strong="H0452" said|strong="H0559" unto Elisha|strong="H0477", Tarry|strong="H3427" here, I pray thee; for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath sent|strong="H7971" me to Beth-el|strong="H1008". And Elisha|strong="H0477" said|strong="H0559" unto him, As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", and as thy soul|strong="H5315" liveth|strong="H2416", I will not leave|strong="H5800" thee. So they went down|strong="H3381" to Beth-el|strong="H1008".

3 And the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030" that were at Beth-el|strong="H1008" came forth|strong="H3318" to Elisha|strong="H0477", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Knowest|strong="H3045" thou that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will take away|strong="H3947" thy master|strong="H0113" from thy head|strong="H7218" to day|strong="H3117"? And he said|strong="H0559", Yea, I know|strong="H3045" it; hold ye your peace|strong="H2814".

4 And Elijah|strong="H0452" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Elisha|strong="H0477", tarry|strong="H3427" here, I pray thee; for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath sent|strong="H7971" me to Jericho|strong="H3405". And he said|strong="H0559", As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", and as thy soul|strong="H5315" liveth|strong="H2416", I will not leave|strong="H5800" thee. So they came|strong="H0935" to Jericho|strong="H3405".

5 And the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030" that were at Jericho|strong="H3405" came|strong="H5066" to Elisha|strong="H0477", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Knowest|strong="H3045" thou that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will take away|strong="H3947" thy master|strong="H0113" from thy head|strong="H7218" to day|strong="H3117"? And he answered|strong="H0559", Yea, I know|strong="H3045" it; hold ye your peace|strong="H2814".

6 And Elijah|strong="H0452" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Tarry|strong="H3427", I pray thee, here; for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath sent|strong="H7971" me to Jordan|strong="H3383". And he said|strong="H0559", As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", and as thy soul|strong="H5315" liveth|strong="H2416", I will not leave|strong="H5800" thee. And they two|strong="H8147" went on|strong="H3212".

7 And fifty|strong="H2572" men|strong="H0376" of the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030" went|strong="H1980", and stood|strong="H5975" to view|strong="H5048" afar off|strong="H7350": and they two|strong="H8147" stood|strong="H5975" by Jordan|strong="H3383".

8 And Elijah|strong="H0452" took|strong="H3947" his mantle|strong="H0155", and wrapped it together|strong="H1563", and smote|strong="H5221" the waters|strong="H4325", and they were divided|strong="H2673" hither and thither, so that they two|strong="H8147" went over|strong="H5674" on dry|strong="H2724" ground.

9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over|strong="H5674", that Elijah|strong="H0452" said|strong="H0559" unto Elisha|strong="H0477", Ask|strong="H7592" what I shall do|strong="H6213" for thee, before I be taken away|strong="H3947" from thee. And Elisha|strong="H0477" said|strong="H0559", I pray thee, let a double|strong="H8147" portion|strong="H6310" of thy spirit|strong="H7307" be upon me.

10 And he said|strong="H0559", Thou hast asked|strong="H7592" a hard thing|strong="H7185": nevertheless, if thou see|strong="H7200" me when I am taken|strong="H3947" from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

11 And it came to pass, as they still|strong="H1980" went on|strong="H1980", and talked|strong="H1696", that, behold, there appeared a chariot|strong="H7393" of fire|strong="H0784", and horses|strong="H5483" of fire|strong="H0784", and parted|strong="H6504" them both|strong="H8147" asunder|strong="H0996"; and Elijah|strong="H0452" went up|strong="H5927" by a whirlwind|strong="H5591" into heaven|strong="H8064".

12 And Elisha|strong="H0477" saw|strong="H7200" it, and he cried|strong="H6817", My father|strong="H0001", my father|strong="H0001", the chariot|strong="H7393" of Israel|strong="H3478", and the horsemen|strong="H6571" thereof. And he saw|strong="H7200" him no more: and he took hold|strong="H2388" of his own clothes|strong="H0899", and rent|strong="H7167" them in two|strong="H8147" pieces|strong="H7168".

13 He took up|strong="H7311" also the mantle|strong="H0155" of Elijah|strong="H0452" that fell|strong="H5307" from him, and went back|strong="H7725", and stood|strong="H5975" by the bank|strong="H8193" of Jordan|strong="H3383";

14 And he took|strong="H3947" the mantle|strong="H0155" of Elijah|strong="H0452" that fell|strong="H5307" from him, and smote|strong="H5221" the waters|strong="H4325", and said|strong="H0559", Where is the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Elijah|strong="H0452"? and when he also had smitten|strong="H5221" the waters|strong="H4325", they parted|strong="H2673" hither and thither: and Elisha|strong="H0477" went over|strong="H5674".

15 And when the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030" which were to view at Jericho|strong="H3405" saw|strong="H7200" him, they said|strong="H0559", The spirit|strong="H7307" of Elijah|strong="H0452" doth rest|strong="H5117" on Elisha|strong="H0477". And they came|strong="H0935" to meet|strong="H7125" him, and bowed|strong="H7812" themselves to the ground|strong="H0776" before him.

16 And they said|strong="H0559" unto him, Behold now, there be|strong="H3426" with thy servants|strong="H5650" fifty|strong="H2572" strong|strong="H2428" men|strong="H1121"; let them go|strong="H3212", we pray thee, and seek|strong="H1245" thy master|strong="H0113": lest peradventure the Spirit|strong="H7307" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath taken him up|strong="H5375", and cast|strong="H7993" him upon some|strong="H0259" mountain|strong="H2022", or into some|strong="H0259" valley|strong="H1516". And he said|strong="H0559", Ye shall not send|strong="H7971".

17 And when they urged|strong="H6484" him till he was ashamed|strong="H0954", he said|strong="H0559", Send|strong="H7971". They sent|strong="H7971" therefore fifty|strong="H2572" men|strong="H0376"; and they sought|strong="H1245" three|strong="H7969" days|strong="H3117", but found|strong="H4672" him not.

18 And when they came again|strong="H7725" to him, (for he tarried|strong="H3427" at Jericho|strong="H3405",) he said|strong="H0559" unto them, Did I not say|strong="H0559" unto you, Go|strong="H3212" not?

19 And the men|strong="H0582" of the city|strong="H5892" said|strong="H0559" unto Elisha|strong="H0477", Behold, I pray thee, the situation|strong="H4186" of this city|strong="H5892" is pleasant|strong="H2896", as my lord|strong="H0113" seeth|strong="H7200": but the water|strong="H4325" is naught|strong="H7451", and the ground|strong="H0776" barren|strong="H7921".

20 And he said|strong="H0559", Bring|strong="H3947" me a new|strong="H2319" cruse|strong="H6746", and put|strong="H7760" salt|strong="H4417" therein. And they brought|strong="H3947" it to him.

21 And he went forth|strong="H3318" unto the spring|strong="H4161" of the waters|strong="H4325", and cast|strong="H7993" the salt|strong="H4417" in there, and said|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I have healed|strong="H7495" these waters|strong="H4325"; there shall not be from thence any more death|strong="H4194" or barren|strong="H7921" land.

22 So the waters|strong="H4325" were healed|strong="H7495" unto this day|strong="H3117", according to the saying|strong="H1697" of Elisha|strong="H0477" which he spake|strong="H1696".

23 And he went up|strong="H5927" from thence unto Beth-el|strong="H1008": and as he was going up|strong="H5927" by the way|strong="H1870", there came forth|strong="H3318" little|strong="H6996" children|strong="H5288" out of the city|strong="H5892", and mocked|strong="H7046" him, and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Go up|strong="H5927", thou bald head|strong="H7142"; go up|strong="H5927", thou bald head|strong="H7142".

24 And he turned|strong="H6437" back|strong="H0310", and looked|strong="H7200" on them, and cursed|strong="H7043" them in the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And there came forth|strong="H3318" two|strong="H8147" she bears|strong="H1677" out of the wood|strong="H3293", and tare|strong="H1234" forty|strong="H0705" and two|strong="H8147" children|strong="H3206" of them.

25 And he went|strong="H3212" from thence to mount|strong="H2022" Carmel|strong="H3760", and from thence he returned|strong="H7725" to Samaria|strong="H8111".
