1 Hezekiah|strong="H3169" began to reign|strong="H4427" when he was five|strong="H2568" and twenty|strong="H6242" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121", and he reigned|strong="H4427" nine|strong="H8672" and twenty|strong="H6242" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Abijah|strong="H0029", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Zechariah|strong="H2148".
2 And he did|strong="H6213" that which was right|strong="H3477" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, according to all that David|strong="H1732" his father|strong="H0001" had done|strong="H6213".
3 He in the first|strong="H7223" year|strong="H8141" of his reign|strong="H4427", in the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320", opened|strong="H6605" the doors|strong="H1817" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and repaired|strong="H2388" them.
4 And he brought in|strong="H0935" the priests|strong="H3548" and the Levites|strong="H3881", and gathered them together|strong="H0622" into the east|strong="H4217" street|strong="H7339",
5 And said|strong="H0559" unto them, Hear|strong="H8085" me, ye Levites|strong="H3881", sanctify|strong="H6942" now yourselves, and sanctify|strong="H6942" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of your fathers|strong="H0001", and carry forth|strong="H3318" the filthiness|strong="H5079" out of the holy|strong="H6944" place.
6 For our fathers|strong="H0001" have trespassed|strong="H4603", and done|strong="H6213" that which was evil|strong="H7451" in the eyes|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", and have forsaken|strong="H5800" him, and have turned away|strong="H5437" their faces|strong="H6440" from the habitation|strong="H4908" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and turned|strong="H5414" their backs|strong="H6203".
7 Also they have shut up|strong="H5462" the doors|strong="H1817" of the porch|strong="H0197", and put out|strong="H3518" the lamps|strong="H5216", and have not burned|strong="H6999" incense|strong="H7004" nor offered|strong="H5927" burnt offerings|strong="H5930" in the holy|strong="H6944" place unto the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".
8 Wherefore the wrath|strong="H7110" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was upon Judah|strong="H3063" and Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and he hath delivered|strong="H5414" them to trouble|strong="H2189", to astonishment|strong="H8047", and to hissing|strong="H8322", as ye see|strong="H7200" with your eyes|strong="H5869".
9 For, lo, our fathers|strong="H0001" have fallen|strong="H5307" by the sword|strong="H2719", and our sons|strong="H1121" and our daughters|strong="H1323" and our wives|strong="H0802" are in captivity|strong="H7628" for this.
10 Now it is in mine heart|strong="H3824" to make|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", that his fierce|strong="H2740" wrath|strong="H0639" may turn away|strong="H7725" from us.
11 My sons|strong="H1121", be not now negligent|strong="H7952": for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath chosen|strong="H0977" you to stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" him, to serve|strong="H8334" him, and that ye should minister|strong="H8334" unto him, and burn incense|strong="H6999".
12 Then the Levites|strong="H3881" arose|strong="H6965", Mahath|strong="H4287" the son|strong="H1121" of Amasai|strong="H6022", and Joel|strong="H3100" the son|strong="H1121" of Azariah|strong="H5838", of the sons|strong="H1121" of the Kohathites|strong="H6956": and of the sons|strong="H1121" of Merari|strong="H4847", Kish|strong="H7027" the son|strong="H1121" of Abdi|strong="H5660", and Azariah|strong="H5838" the son|strong="H1121" of Jehalelel|strong="H3094": and of the Gershonites|strong="H1649"; Joah|strong="H3098" the son|strong="H1121" of Zimmah|strong="H2155", and Eden|strong="H5731" the son|strong="H1121" of Joah|strong="H3098":
13 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Elizaphan|strong="H0469"; Shimri|strong="H8113", and Jeiel|strong="H3273": and of the sons|strong="H1121" of Asaph|strong="H0623"; Zechariah|strong="H2148", and Mattaniah|strong="H4983":
14 And of the sons|strong="H1121" of Heman|strong="H1968"; Jehiel|strong="H3171", and Shimei|strong="H8096": and of the sons|strong="H1121" of Jeduthun|strong="H3038"; Shemaiah|strong="H8098", and Uzziel|strong="H5816".
15 And they gathered|strong="H0622" their brethren|strong="H0251", and sanctified|strong="H6942" themselves, and came|strong="H0935", according to the commandment|strong="H4687" of the king|strong="H4428", by the words|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to cleanse|strong="H2891" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
16 And the priests|strong="H3548" went|strong="H0935" into the inner part|strong="H6441" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to cleanse|strong="H2891" it, and brought out|strong="H3318" all the uncleanness|strong="H2932" that they found|strong="H4672" in the temple|strong="H1964" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* into the court|strong="H2691" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And the Levites|strong="H3881" took|strong="H6901" it, to carry it out|strong="H3318" abroad|strong="H2351" into the brook|strong="H5158" Kidron|strong="H6939".
17 Now they began|strong="H2490" on the first|strong="H0259" day of the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320" to sanctify|strong="H6942", and on the eighth|strong="H8083" day|strong="H3117" of the month|strong="H2320" came|strong="H0935" they to the porch|strong="H0197" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: so they sanctified|strong="H6942" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in eight|strong="H8083" days|strong="H3117"; and in the sixteenth|strong="H8337" day of the first|strong="H7223" month|strong="H2320" they made an end|strong="H3615".
18 Then they went|strong="H0935" in|strong="H6441" to Hezekiah|strong="H2396" the king|strong="H4428", and said|strong="H0559", We have cleansed|strong="H2891" all the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the altar|strong="H4196" of burnt offering|strong="H5930", with all the vessels|strong="H3627" thereof, and the shewbread|strong="H4635" table|strong="H7979", with all the vessels|strong="H3627" thereof.
19 Moreover all the vessels|strong="H3627", which king|strong="H4428" Ahaz|strong="H0271" in his reign|strong="H4438" did cast away|strong="H2186" in his transgression|strong="H4604", have we prepared|strong="H3559" and sanctified|strong="H6942", and, behold, they are before|strong="H6440" the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
20 Then Hezekiah|strong="H3169" the king|strong="H4428" rose early|strong="H7925", and gathered|strong="H0622" the rulers|strong="H8269" of the city|strong="H5892", and went up|strong="H5927" to the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
21 And they brought|strong="H0935" seven|strong="H7651" bullocks|strong="H6499", and seven|strong="H7651" rams|strong="H0352", and seven|strong="H7651" lambs|strong="H3532", and seven|strong="H7651" he|strong="H6842" goats|strong="H5795", for a sin offering|strong="H2403" for the kingdom|strong="H4467", and for the sanctuary|strong="H4720", and for Judah|strong="H3063". And he commanded|strong="H0559" the priests|strong="H3548" the sons|strong="H1121" of Aaron|strong="H0175" to offer|strong="H5927" them on the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
22 So they killed|strong="H7819" the bullocks|strong="H1241", and the priests|strong="H3548" received|strong="H6901" the blood|strong="H1818", and sprinkled|strong="H2236" it on the altar|strong="H4196": likewise, when they had killed|strong="H7819" the rams|strong="H0352", they sprinkled|strong="H2236" the blood|strong="H1818" upon the altar|strong="H4196": they killed|strong="H7819" also the lambs|strong="H3532", and they sprinkled|strong="H2236" the blood|strong="H1818" upon the altar|strong="H4196".
23 And they brought forth|strong="H5066" the he goats|strong="H8163" for the sin offering|strong="H2403" before|strong="H6440" the king|strong="H4428" and the congregation|strong="H6951"; and they laid|strong="H5564" their hands|strong="H3027" upon them:
24 And the priests|strong="H3548" killed|strong="H7819" them, and they made reconciliation|strong="H2398" with their blood|strong="H1818" upon the altar|strong="H4196", to make an atonement|strong="H3722" for all Israel|strong="H3478": for the king|strong="H4428" commanded|strong="H0559" that the burnt offering|strong="H5930" and the sin offering|strong="H2403" should be made for all Israel|strong="H3478".
25 And he set|strong="H5975" the Levites|strong="H3881" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* with cymbals|strong="H4700", with psalteries|strong="H5035", and with harps|strong="H3658", according to the commandment|strong="H4687" of David|strong="H1732", and of Gad|strong="H1410" the king’s|strong="H4428" seer|strong="H2374", and Nathan|strong="H5416" the prophet|strong="H5030": for so was the commandment|strong="H4687" of|strong="H3027" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* by|strong="H3027" his prophets|strong="H5030".
26 And the Levites|strong="H3881" stood|strong="H5975" with the instruments|strong="H3627" of David|strong="H1732", and the priests|strong="H3548" with the trumpets|strong="H2689".
27 And Hezekiah|strong="H2396" commanded|strong="H0559" to offer|strong="H5927" the burnt offering|strong="H5930" upon the altar|strong="H4196". And when|strong="H6256" the burnt offering|strong="H5930" began|strong="H2490", the song|strong="H7892" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* began|strong="H2490" also with the trumpets|strong="H2689", and with the instruments|strong="H3627" ordained by|strong="H3027" David|strong="H1732" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478".
28 And all the congregation|strong="H6951" worshipped|strong="H7812", and the singers|strong="H7892" sang|strong="H7891", and the trumpeters|strong="H2689" sounded|strong="H2690": and all this continued until the burnt offering|strong="H5930" was finished|strong="H3615".
29 And when they had made an end|strong="H3615" of offering|strong="H5927", the king|strong="H4428" and all that were present|strong="H4672" with him bowed|strong="H3766" themselves, and worshipped|strong="H7812".
30 Moreover Hezekiah|strong="H3169" the king|strong="H4428" and the princes|strong="H8269" commanded|strong="H0559" the Levites|strong="H3881" to sing praise|strong="H1984" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* with the words|strong="H1697" of David|strong="H1732", and of Asaph|strong="H0623" the seer|strong="H2374". And they sang praises|strong="H1984" with gladness|strong="H8057", and they bowed their heads|strong="H6915" and worshipped|strong="H7812".
31 Then Hezekiah|strong="H3169" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", Now ye have consecrated|strong="H4390" yourselves unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, come near|strong="H5066" and bring|strong="H0935" sacrifices|strong="H2077" and thank offerings|strong="H8426" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And the congregation|strong="H6951" brought in|strong="H0935" sacrifices|strong="H2077" and thank offerings|strong="H8426"; and as many as were of a free|strong="H5081" heart|strong="H3820" burnt offerings|strong="H5930".
32 And the number|strong="H4557" of the burnt offerings|strong="H5930", which the congregation|strong="H6951" brought|strong="H0935", was threescore and ten|strong="H7657" bullocks|strong="H1241", an hundred|strong="H3967" rams|strong="H0352", and two hundred|strong="H3967" lambs|strong="H3532": all these were for a burnt offering|strong="H5930" to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
33 And the consecrated things|strong="H6944" were six|strong="H8337" hundred|strong="H3967" oxen|strong="H1241" and three|strong="H7969" thousand|strong="H0505" sheep|strong="H6629".
34 But the priests|strong="H3548" were too few|strong="H4592", so that they could|strong="H3201" not flay|strong="H6584" all the burnt offerings|strong="H5930": wherefore their brethren|strong="H0251" the Levites|strong="H3881" did help|strong="H2388" them, till the work|strong="H4399" was ended|strong="H3615", and until the other priests|strong="H3548" had sanctified|strong="H6942" themselves: for the Levites|strong="H3881" were more upright|strong="H3477" in heart|strong="H3824" to sanctify|strong="H6942" themselves than the priests|strong="H3548".
35 And also the burnt offerings|strong="H5930" were in abundance|strong="H7230", with the fat|strong="H2459" of the peace offerings|strong="H8002", and the drink offerings|strong="H5262" for every burnt offering|strong="H5930". So the service|strong="H5656" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was set in order|strong="H3559".
36 And Hezekiah|strong="H3169" rejoiced|strong="H8055", and all the people|strong="H5971", that God|strong="H0430" had prepared|strong="H3559" the people|strong="H5971": for the thing|strong="H1697" was done suddenly|strong="H6597".
