2 Crônicas 25

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 Amaziah|strong="H0558" was twenty|strong="H6242" and five|strong="H2568" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" twenty|strong="H6242" and nine|strong="H8672" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Jehoaddan|strong="H3086" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

2 And he did|strong="H6213" that which was right|strong="H3477" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, but not with a perfect|strong="H8003" heart|strong="H3824".

3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom|strong="H4467" was established|strong="H2388" to him, that he slew|strong="H2026" his servants|strong="H5650" that had killed|strong="H5221" the king|strong="H4428" his father|strong="H0001".

4 But he slew|strong="H4191" not their children|strong="H1121", but did as it is written|strong="H3789" in the law|strong="H8451" in the book|strong="H5612" of Moses|strong="H4872", where the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* commanded|strong="H6680", saying|strong="H0559", The fathers|strong="H0001" shall not die|strong="H4191" for the children|strong="H1121", neither shall the children|strong="H1121" die|strong="H4191" for the fathers|strong="H0001", but every man|strong="H0376" shall die|strong="H4191" for his own sin|strong="H2399".

5 Moreover Amaziah|strong="H0558" gathered|strong="H6908" Judah|strong="H3063" together|strong="H6908", and made|strong="H5975" them captains|strong="H8269" over thousands|strong="H0505", and captains|strong="H8269" over hundreds|strong="H3967", according to the houses|strong="H1004" of their fathers|strong="H0001", throughout all Judah|strong="H3063" and Benjamin|strong="H1144": and he numbered|strong="H6485" them from twenty|strong="H6242" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" and above|strong="H4605", and found|strong="H4672" them three|strong="H7969" hundred|strong="H3967" thousand|strong="H0505" choice|strong="H0977" men, able to go forth|strong="H3318" to war|strong="H6635", that could handle|strong="H0270" spear|strong="H7420" and shield|strong="H6793".

6 He hired|strong="H7936" also an hundred|strong="H3967" thousand|strong="H0505" mighty|strong="H1368" men of valour|strong="H2428" out of Israel|strong="H3478" for an hundred|strong="H3967" talents|strong="H3603" of silver|strong="H3701".

7 But there came|strong="H0935" a man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" to him, saying|strong="H0559", O king|strong="H4428", let not the army|strong="H6635" of Israel|strong="H3478" go|strong="H0935" with thee; for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is not with Israel|strong="H3478", to wit, with all the children|strong="H1121" of Ephraim|strong="H0669".

8 But if thou wilt go|strong="H0935", do|strong="H6213" it, be strong|strong="H2388" for the battle|strong="H4421": God|strong="H0430" shall make thee fall|strong="H3782" before|strong="H6440" the enemy|strong="H0341": for God|strong="H0430" hath|strong="H3426" power|strong="H3581" to help|strong="H5826", and to cast down|strong="H3782".

9 And Amaziah|strong="H0558" said|strong="H0559" to the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", But what shall we do|strong="H6213" for the hundred|strong="H3967" talents|strong="H3603" which I have given|strong="H5414" to the army|strong="H1416" of Israel|strong="H3478"? And the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" answered|strong="H0559", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is|strong="H3426" able to give|strong="H5414" thee much more|strong="H7235" than this.

10 Then Amaziah|strong="H0558" separated|strong="H0914" them, to wit, the army|strong="H1416" that was come|strong="H0935" to him out of Ephraim|strong="H0669", to go|strong="H3212" home|strong="H4725" again|strong="H3212": wherefore their anger|strong="H0639" was greatly|strong="H3966" kindled|strong="H2734" against Judah|strong="H3063", and they returned|strong="H7725" home|strong="H4725" in great|strong="H2750" anger|strong="H0639".

11 And Amaziah|strong="H0558" strengthened|strong="H2388" himself, and led forth|strong="H5090" his people|strong="H5971", and went|strong="H3212" to the valley|strong="H1516" of salt|strong="H4417", and smote|strong="H5221" of the children|strong="H1121" of Seir|strong="H8165" ten|strong="H6235" thousand|strong="H0505".

12 And other ten|strong="H6235" thousand|strong="H0505" left alive|strong="H2416" did the children|strong="H1121" of Judah|strong="H3063" carry away captive|strong="H7617", and brought|strong="H0935" them unto the top|strong="H7218" of the rock|strong="H5553", and cast them down|strong="H7993" from the top|strong="H7218" of the rock|strong="H5553", that they all were broken in pieces|strong="H1234".

13 But the soldiers|strong="H1121" of the army|strong="H1416" which Amaziah|strong="H0558" sent back|strong="H7725", that they should not go|strong="H3212" with him to battle|strong="H4421", fell|strong="H6584" upon the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063", from Samaria|strong="H8111" even unto Beth-horon|strong="H1032", and smote|strong="H5221" three|strong="H7969" thousand|strong="H0505" of them, and took|strong="H0962" much|strong="H7227" spoil|strong="H0961".

14 Now it came to pass, after|strong="H0310" that Amaziah|strong="H0558" was come|strong="H0935" from the slaughter|strong="H5221" of the Edomites|strong="H0130", that he brought|strong="H0935" the gods|strong="H0430" of the children|strong="H1121" of Seir|strong="H8165", and set them up|strong="H5975" to be his gods|strong="H0430", and bowed down|strong="H7812" himself before|strong="H6440" them, and burned incense|strong="H6999" unto them.

15 Wherefore the anger|strong="H0639" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was kindled|strong="H2734" against Amaziah|strong="H0558", and he sent|strong="H7971" unto him a prophet|strong="H5030", which said|strong="H0559" unto him, Why hast thou sought|strong="H1875" after the gods|strong="H0430" of the people|strong="H5971", which could not deliver|strong="H5337" their own people|strong="H5971" out of thine hand|strong="H3027"?

16 And it came to pass, as he talked|strong="H1696" with him, that the king said|strong="H0559" unto him, Art thou made|strong="H5414" of the king’s|strong="H4428" counsel|strong="H3289"? forbear|strong="H2308"; why shouldest thou be smitten|strong="H5221"? Then the prophet|strong="H5030" forbare|strong="H2308", and said|strong="H0559", I know|strong="H3045" that God|strong="H0430" hath determined|strong="H3289" to destroy|strong="H7843" thee, because thou hast done|strong="H6213" this, and hast not hearkened|strong="H8085" unto my counsel|strong="H6098".

17 Then Amaziah|strong="H0558" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" took advice|strong="H3289", and sent|strong="H7971" to Joash|strong="H3101", the son|strong="H1121" of Jehoahaz|strong="H3059", the son|strong="H1121" of Jehu|strong="H3058", king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", saying|strong="H0559", Come|strong="H3212", let us see one another|strong="H7200" in the face|strong="H6440".

18 And Joash|strong="H3101" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" sent|strong="H7971" to Amaziah|strong="H0558" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", saying|strong="H0559", The thistle|strong="H2336" that was in Lebanon|strong="H3844" sent|strong="H7971" to the cedar|strong="H0730" that was in Lebanon|strong="H3844", saying|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H5414" thy daughter|strong="H1323" to my son|strong="H1121" to wife|strong="H0802": and there passed by|strong="H5674" a wild|strong="H7704" beast|strong="H2416" that was in Lebanon|strong="H3844", and trode down|strong="H7429" the thistle|strong="H2336".

19 Thou sayest|strong="H0559", Lo, thou hast smitten|strong="H5221" the Edomites|strong="H0123"; and thine heart|strong="H3820" lifteth thee up|strong="H5375" to boast|strong="H3513": abide|strong="H3427" now at home|strong="H1004"; why shouldest thou meddle|strong="H1624" to thine hurt|strong="H7451", that thou shouldest fall|strong="H5307", even thou, and Judah|strong="H3063" with thee?

20 But Amaziah|strong="H0558" would not hear|strong="H8085"; for it came of God|strong="H0430", that he might deliver|strong="H5414" them into the hand|strong="H3027" of their enemies, because they sought|strong="H1875" after the gods|strong="H0430" of Edom|strong="H0123".

21 So Joash|strong="H3101" the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" went up|strong="H5927"; and they saw one another|strong="H7200" in the face|strong="H6440", both he and Amaziah|strong="H0558" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", at Beth-shemesh|strong="H1053", which belongeth to Judah|strong="H3063".

22 And Judah|strong="H3063" was put to the worse|strong="H5062" before|strong="H6440" Israel|strong="H3478", and they fled|strong="H5127" every man|strong="H0376" to his tent|strong="H0168".

23 And Joash|strong="H3101" the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" took|strong="H8610" Amaziah|strong="H0558" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", the son|strong="H1121" of Joash|strong="H3101", the son|strong="H1121" of Jehoahaz|strong="H3059", at Beth-shemesh|strong="H1053", and brought|strong="H0935" him to Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and brake down|strong="H6555" the wall|strong="H2346" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389" from the gate|strong="H8179" of Ephraim|strong="H0669" to the corner|strong="H6437" gate|strong="H8179", four|strong="H0702" hundred|strong="H3967" cubits|strong="H0520".

24 And he took all the gold|strong="H2091" and the silver|strong="H3701", and all the vessels|strong="H3627" that were found|strong="H4672" in the house|strong="H1004" of God|strong="H0430" with Obed-edom|strong="H5654", and the treasures|strong="H0214" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004", the hostages|strong="H1121" also, and returned|strong="H7725" to Samaria|strong="H8111".

25 And Amaziah|strong="H0558" the son|strong="H1121" of Joash|strong="H3101" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" lived|strong="H2421" after|strong="H0310" the death|strong="H4194" of Joash|strong="H3101" son|strong="H1121" of Jehoahaz|strong="H3059" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" fifteen|strong="H2568" years|strong="H8141".

26 Now the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Amaziah|strong="H0558", first|strong="H7223" and last|strong="H0314", behold, are they not written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" and Israel|strong="H3478"?

27 Now after the time|strong="H6256" that Amaziah|strong="H0558" did turn away|strong="H5493" from following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* they made|strong="H7194" a conspiracy|strong="H7195" against him in Jerusalem|strong="H3389"; and he fled|strong="H5127" to Lachish|strong="H3923": but they sent|strong="H7971" to Lachish|strong="H3923" after|strong="H0310" him, and slew|strong="H4191" him there.

28 And they brought|strong="H5375" him upon horses|strong="H5483", and buried|strong="H6912" him with his fathers|strong="H0001" in the city|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063".
