1 And Samuel|strong="H8050" said|strong="H0559" unto all Israel|strong="H3478", Behold, I have hearkened|strong="H8085" unto your voice|strong="H6963" in all that ye said|strong="H0559" unto me, and have made|strong="H4427" a king|strong="H4428" over you.
2 And now, behold, the king|strong="H4428" walketh|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" you: and I am old|strong="H2204" and grayheaded|strong="H7867"; and, behold, my sons|strong="H1121" are with you: and I have walked|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" you from my childhood|strong="H5271" unto this day|strong="H3117".
3 Behold, here I am: witness|strong="H6030" against me before the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and before his anointed|strong="H4899": whose ox|strong="H7794" have I taken|strong="H3947"? or whose ass|strong="H2543" have I taken|strong="H3947"? or whom have I defrauded|strong="H6231"? whom have I oppressed|strong="H7533"? or of whose hand|strong="H3027" have I received any bribe|strong="H3724" to blind|strong="H5956" mine eyes|strong="H5869" therewith? and I will restore|strong="H7725" it you.
4 And they said|strong="H0559", Thou hast not defrauded|strong="H6231" us, nor oppressed|strong="H7533" us, neither hast thou taken|strong="H3947" ought|strong="H3972" of any man’s|strong="H0376" hand|strong="H3027".
5 And he said|strong="H0559" unto them, The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is witness|strong="H5707" against you, and his anointed|strong="H4899" is witness|strong="H5707" this day|strong="H3117", that ye have not found|strong="H4672" ought|strong="H3972" in my hand|strong="H3027". And they answered|strong="H0559", He is witness|strong="H5707".
6 And Samuel|strong="H8050" said|strong="H0559" unto the people|strong="H5971", It is the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* that advanced|strong="H6213" Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175", and that brought|strong="H5927" your fathers|strong="H0001" up|strong="H5927" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714".
7 Now therefore stand still|strong="H3320", that I may reason|strong="H8199" with you before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of all the righteous acts|strong="H6666" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which he did|strong="H6213" to you and to your fathers|strong="H0001".
8 When Jacob|strong="H3290" was come|strong="H0935" into Egypt|strong="H4714", and your fathers|strong="H0001" cried|strong="H2199" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, then the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sent|strong="H7971" Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175", which brought forth|strong="H3318" your fathers|strong="H0001" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", and made them dwell|strong="H3427" in this place|strong="H4725".
9 And when they forgat|strong="H7911" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430", he sold|strong="H4376" them into the hand|strong="H3027" of Sisera|strong="H5516", captain|strong="H8269" of the host|strong="H6635" of Hazor|strong="H2674", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Philistines|strong="H6430", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124", and they fought|strong="H3898" against them.
10 And they cried|strong="H2199" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", We have sinned|strong="H2398", because we have forsaken|strong="H5800" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and have served|strong="H5647" Baalim|strong="H1168" and Ashtaroth|strong="H6252": but now deliver|strong="H5337" us out of the hand|strong="H3027" of our enemies|strong="H0341", and we will serve|strong="H5647" thee.
11 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sent|strong="H7971" Jerubbaal|strong="H3378", and Bedan|strong="H0917", and Jephthah|strong="H3316", and Samuel|strong="H8050", and delivered|strong="H5337" you out of the hand|strong="H3027" of your enemies|strong="H0341" on every side|strong="H5439", and ye dwelled|strong="H3427" safe|strong="H0983".
12 And when ye saw|strong="H7200" that Nahash|strong="H5176" the king|strong="H4428" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983" came|strong="H0935" against you, ye said|strong="H0559" unto me, Nay; but a king|strong="H4428" shall reign|strong="H4427" over us: when the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430" was your king|strong="H4428".
13 Now therefore behold the king|strong="H4428" whom ye have chosen|strong="H0977", and whom ye have desired|strong="H7592"! and, behold, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath set|strong="H5414" a king|strong="H4428" over you.
14 If ye will fear|strong="H3372" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and serve|strong="H5647" him, and obey|strong="H8085" his voice|strong="H6963", and not rebel|strong="H4784" against the commandment|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, then shall both ye and also the king|strong="H4428" that reigneth|strong="H4427" over you continue following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430":
15 But if ye will not obey|strong="H8085" the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, but rebel|strong="H4784" against the commandment|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, then shall the hand|strong="H3027" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* be against you, as it was against your fathers|strong="H0001".
16 Now therefore|strong="H1571" stand|strong="H3320" and see|strong="H7200" this great|strong="H1419" thing|strong="H1697", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will do|strong="H6213" before your eyes|strong="H5869".
17 Is it not wheat|strong="H2406" harvest|strong="H7105" to day|strong="H3117"? I will call|strong="H7121" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and he shall send|strong="H5414" thunder|strong="H6963" and rain|strong="H4306"; that ye may perceive|strong="H3045" and see|strong="H7200" that your wickedness|strong="H7451" is great|strong="H7227", which ye have done|strong="H6213" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, in asking|strong="H7592" you a king|strong="H4428".
18 So Samuel|strong="H8050" called|strong="H7121" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sent|strong="H5414" thunder|strong="H6963" and rain|strong="H4306" that day|strong="H3117": and all the people|strong="H5971" greatly|strong="H3966" feared|strong="H3372" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* and Samuel|strong="H8050".
19 And all the people|strong="H5971" said|strong="H0559" unto Samuel|strong="H8050", Pray|strong="H6419" for thy servants|strong="H5650" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430", that we die|strong="H4191" not: for we have added|strong="H3254" unto all our sins|strong="H2403" this evil|strong="H7451", to ask|strong="H7592" us a king|strong="H4428".
20 And Samuel|strong="H8050" said|strong="H0559" unto the people|strong="H5971", Fear|strong="H3372" not: ye have done|strong="H6213" all this wickedness|strong="H7451": yet turn not aside|strong="H5493" from following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, but serve|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* with all your heart|strong="H3824";
21 And turn ye not aside|strong="H5493": for then should ye go after|strong="H0310" vain|strong="H8414" things, which cannot profit|strong="H3276" nor deliver|strong="H5337"; for they are vain|strong="H8414".
22 For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will not forsake|strong="H5203" his people|strong="H5971" for his great|strong="H1419" name’s|strong="H8034" sake: because it hath pleased|strong="H2974" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* to make|strong="H6213" you his people|strong="H5971".
23 Moreover as for me|strong="H0595", God forbid|strong="H2486" that I should sin|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in ceasing|strong="H2308" to pray|strong="H6419" for you: but I will teach|strong="H3384" you the good|strong="H2896" and the right|strong="H3477" way|strong="H1870":
24 Only fear|strong="H3372" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and serve|strong="H5647" him in truth|strong="H0571" with all your heart|strong="H3824": for consider|strong="H7200" how great things he hath done|strong="H1431" for you.
25 But if ye shall still|strong="H7489" do wickedly|strong="H7489", ye shall be consumed|strong="H5595", both ye and your king|strong="H4428".
