And Ahab|strong="H0256" told|strong="H5046" Jezebel|strong="H0348" all that Elijah|strong="H0452" had done|strong="H6213", and withal how he had slain|strong="H2026" all the prophets|strong="H5030" with the sword|strong="H2719".
Then Jezebel|strong="H0348" sent|strong="H7971" a messenger|strong="H4397" unto Elijah|strong="H0452", saying|strong="H0559", So let the gods|strong="H0430" do|strong="H6213" to me, and more|strong="H3254" also, if I make|strong="H7760" not thy life|strong="H5315" as the life|strong="H5315" of one|strong="H0259" of them by to morrow|strong="H4279" about this time|strong="H6256".
And when he saw|strong="H7200" that, he arose|strong="H6965", and went|strong="H3212" for his life|strong="H5315", and came|strong="H0935" to Beer-sheba|strong="H0884", which belongeth to Judah|strong="H3063", and left|strong="H3240" his servant|strong="H5288" there.
But he himself went|strong="H1980" a day’s|strong="H3117" journey|strong="H1870" into the wilderness|strong="H4057", and came|strong="H0935" and sat down|strong="H3427" under a|strong="H0259" juniper tree|strong="H7574": and he requested|strong="H7592" for himself|strong="H5315" that he might die|strong="H4191"; and said|strong="H0559", It is enough|strong="H7227"; now, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, take away|strong="H3947" my life|strong="H5315"; for I am not better|strong="H2896" than my fathers|strong="H0001".
And as he lay|strong="H7901" and slept|strong="H3462" under a|strong="H0259" juniper tree|strong="H7574", behold, then an angel|strong="H4397" touched|strong="H5060" him, and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Arise|strong="H6965" and eat|strong="H0398".
And he looked|strong="H5027", and, behold, there was a cake|strong="H5692" baken on the coals|strong="H7529", and a cruse|strong="H6835" of water|strong="H4325" at his head|strong="H4763". And he did eat|strong="H0398" and drink|strong="H8354", and laid him down|strong="H7901" again|strong="H7725".
And the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came again|strong="H7725" the second time|strong="H8145", and touched|strong="H5060" him, and said|strong="H0559", Arise|strong="H6965" and eat|strong="H0398"; because the journey|strong="H1870" is too great|strong="H7227" for thee.
And he arose|strong="H6965", and did eat|strong="H0398" and drink|strong="H8354", and went|strong="H3212" in the strength|strong="H3581" of that meat|strong="H0396" forty|strong="H0705" days|strong="H3117" and forty|strong="H0705" nights|strong="H3915" unto Horeb|strong="H2722" the mount|strong="H2022" of God|strong="H0430".
And he came|strong="H0935" thither unto a cave|strong="H4631", and lodged|strong="H3885" there; and, behold, the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came to him, and he said|strong="H0559" unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah|strong="H0452"?
And he said|strong="H0559", I have been very|strong="H7065" jealous|strong="H7065" for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of hosts|strong="H6635": for the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" have forsaken|strong="H5800" thy covenant|strong="H1285", thrown down|strong="H2040" thine altars|strong="H4196", and slain|strong="H2026" thy prophets|strong="H5030" with the sword|strong="H2719"; and I, even I only, am left|strong="H3498"; and they seek|strong="H1245" my life|strong="H5315", to take it away|strong="H3947".
And he said|strong="H0559", Go forth|strong="H3318", and stand|strong="H5975" upon the mount|strong="H2022" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And, behold, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* passed by|strong="H5674", and a great|strong="H1419" and strong|strong="H2389" wind|strong="H7307" rent|strong="H6561" the mountains|strong="H2022", and brake in pieces|strong="H7665" the rocks|strong="H5553" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; but the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was not in the wind|strong="H7307": and after|strong="H0310" the wind|strong="H7307" an earthquake|strong="H7494"; but the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was not in the earthquake|strong="H7494":
And after|strong="H0310" the earthquake|strong="H7494" a fire|strong="H0784"; but the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was not in the fire|strong="H0784": and after|strong="H0310" the fire|strong="H0784" a still|strong="H1827" small|strong="H1851" voice|strong="H6963".
And it was so, when Elijah|strong="H0452" heard|strong="H8085" it, that he wrapped|strong="H3874" his face|strong="H6440" in his mantle|strong="H0155", and went out|strong="H3318", and stood|strong="H5975" in the entering in|strong="H6607" of the cave|strong="H4631". And, behold, there came a voice|strong="H6963" unto him, and said|strong="H0559", What doest thou here, Elijah|strong="H0452"?
And he said|strong="H0559", I have been very|strong="H7065" jealous|strong="H7065" for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of hosts|strong="H6635": because the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" have forsaken|strong="H5800" thy covenant|strong="H1285", thrown down|strong="H2040" thine altars|strong="H4196", and slain|strong="H2026" thy prophets|strong="H5030" with the sword|strong="H2719"; and I, even I only, am left|strong="H3498"; and they seek|strong="H1245" my life|strong="H5315", to take it away|strong="H3947".
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto him, Go|strong="H3212", return|strong="H7725" on thy way|strong="H1870" to the wilderness|strong="H4057" of Damascus|strong="H1834": and when thou comest|strong="H0935", anoint|strong="H4886" Hazael|strong="H2371" to be king|strong="H4428" over Syria|strong="H0758":
And Jehu|strong="H3058" the son|strong="H1121" of Nimshi|strong="H5250" shalt thou anoint|strong="H4886" to be king|strong="H4428" over Israel|strong="H3478": and Elisha|strong="H0477" the son|strong="H1121" of Shaphat|strong="H8202" of Abel-meholah|strong="H0065" shalt thou anoint|strong="H4886" to be prophet|strong="H5030" in thy room.
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth|strong="H4422" the sword|strong="H2719" of Hazael|strong="H2371" shall Jehu|strong="H3058" slay|strong="H4191": and him that escapeth|strong="H4422" from the sword|strong="H2719" of Jehu|strong="H3058" shall Elisha|strong="H0477" slay|strong="H4191".
Yet I have left|strong="H7604" me seven|strong="H7651" thousand|strong="H0505" in Israel|strong="H3478", all the knees|strong="H1290" which have not bowed|strong="H3766" unto Baal|strong="H1168", and every mouth|strong="H6310" which hath not kissed|strong="H5401" him.
So he departed|strong="H3212" thence, and found|strong="H4672" Elisha|strong="H0477" the son|strong="H1121" of Shaphat|strong="H8202", who was plowing|strong="H2790" with twelve|strong="H8147" yoke|strong="H6776" of oxen before|strong="H6440" him, and he with the twelfth|strong="H8147": and Elijah|strong="H0452" passed|strong="H5674" by him, and cast|strong="H7993" his mantle|strong="H0155" upon him.
And he left|strong="H5800" the oxen|strong="H1241", and ran|strong="H7323" after|strong="H0310" Elijah|strong="H0452", and said|strong="H0559", Let me, I pray thee, kiss|strong="H5401" my father|strong="H0001" and my mother|strong="H0517", and then I will follow|strong="H3212" thee. And he said|strong="H0559" unto him, Go back|strong="H3212" again|strong="H7725": for what have I done|strong="H6213" to thee?
And he returned back|strong="H7725" from him|strong="H0310", and took|strong="H3947" a yoke|strong="H6776" of oxen|strong="H1241", and slew|strong="H2076" them, and boiled|strong="H1310" their flesh|strong="H1320" with the instruments|strong="H3627" of the oxen|strong="H1241", and gave|strong="H5414" unto the people|strong="H5971", and they did eat|strong="H0398". Then he arose|strong="H6965", and went|strong="H3212" after|strong="H0310" Elijah|strong="H0452", and ministered|strong="H8334" unto him.
