2 Nevertheless|strong="G1161", to avoid fornication|strong="G4202", let every man|strong="G1538" have|strong="G2192" his own|strong="G1438" wife|strong="G1135", and|strong="G2532" let every woman|strong="G1538" have|strong="G2192" her own|strong="G2398" husband|strong="G0435".
3 Let the husband|strong="G0435" render|strong="G0591" unto the wife|strong="G1135" due|strong="G3784" benevolence|strong="G2133": and|strong="G1161" likewise|strong="G3668" also|strong="G2532" the wife|strong="G1135" unto the husband|strong="G0435".
4 The wife|strong="G1135" hath|strong="G1850" not|strong="G3756" power|strong="G1850" of her own|strong="G2398" body|strong="G4983", but|strong="G0235" the husband|strong="G0435": and|strong="G1161" likewise|strong="G3668" also|strong="G2532" the husband|strong="G0435" hath|strong="G1850" not|strong="G3756" power|strong="G1850" of his own|strong="G2398" body|strong="G4983", but|strong="G0235" the wife|strong="G1135".
5 Defraud ye|strong="G0650" not|strong="G3361" one the other|strong="G0240", except|strong="G1487" it be with|strong="G1537" consent|strong="G4859" for|strong="G4314" a time|strong="G2540", that|strong="G2443" ye may give yourselves|strong="G4980" to fasting|strong="G3521" and|strong="G2532" prayer|strong="G4335"; and|strong="G2532" come together|strong="G4905" again|strong="G3825", that|strong="G2443" Satan|strong="G4567" tempt|strong="G3985" you|strong="G5209" not|strong="G3361" for|strong="G1223" your|strong="G5216" incontinency|strong="G0192".
6 But|strong="G1161" I speak|strong="G3004" this|strong="G5124" by|strong="G2596" permission|strong="G4774", and not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G2596" commandment|strong="G2003".
7 For|strong="G1063" I would|strong="G2309" that all|strong="G3956" men|strong="G0444" were|strong="G1511" even|strong="G2532" as|strong="G5613" I myself|strong="G1683". But|strong="G0235" every man|strong="G1538" hath|strong="G2192" his|strong="G2398" proper gift|strong="G5486" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316", one|strong="G3739" after this manner|strong="G3779", and|strong="G1161" another|strong="G3739" after that|strong="G3779".
8 I say|strong="G3004" therefore|strong="G1161" to the unmarried|strong="G0022" and|strong="G2532" widows|strong="G5503", It is|strong="G2076" good|strong="G2570" for them|strong="G0846" if|strong="G1437" they abide|strong="G3306" even|strong="G5613" as I|strong="G2504".
9 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" they|strong="G1467" cannot|strong="G3756" contain|strong="G1467", let them marry|strong="G1060": for|strong="G1063" it is|strong="G2076" better|strong="G2908" to marry|strong="G1060" than|strong="G2228" to burn|strong="G4448".
10 And|strong="G1161" unto the married|strong="G1060" I command|strong="G3853", yet not|strong="G3756" I|strong="G1473", but|strong="G0235" the Lord|strong="G2962", Let not|strong="G3361" the wife|strong="G1135" depart|strong="G5563" from|strong="G0575" her husband|strong="G0435":
11 But|strong="G1161" and|strong="G2532" if|strong="G1437" she depart|strong="G5563", let her remain|strong="G3306" unmarried|strong="G0022", or|strong="G2228" be reconciled|strong="G2644" to|strong="G0435" her husband|strong="G0435": and|strong="G2532" let|strong="G0435" not|strong="G3361" the husband|strong="G0435" put away|strong="G0863" his wife|strong="G1135".
12 But|strong="G1161" to the rest|strong="G3062" speak|strong="G3004" I|strong="G1473", not|strong="G3756" the Lord|strong="G2962": If|strong="G1487" any|strong="G5100" brother|strong="G0080" hath|strong="G2192" a wife|strong="G1135" that believeth not|strong="G0571", and|strong="G2532" she|strong="G0846" be pleased|strong="G4909" to dwell|strong="G3611" with|strong="G3326" him|strong="G0846", let him|strong="G0863" not|strong="G3361" put|strong="G0863" her away|strong="G0846".
13 And|strong="G2532" the woman|strong="G1135" which|strong="G3748" hath|strong="G2192" an husband|strong="G0435" that believeth not|strong="G0571", and|strong="G2532" if he|strong="G0846" be pleased|strong="G4909" to dwell|strong="G3611" with|strong="G3326" her|strong="G0846", let her|strong="G0863" not|strong="G3361" leave|strong="G0863" him|strong="G0846".
14 For|strong="G1063" the unbelieving|strong="G0571" husband|strong="G0435" is sanctified|strong="G0037" by|strong="G1722" the wife|strong="G1135", and|strong="G2532" the unbelieving|strong="G0571" wife|strong="G1135" is sanctified|strong="G0037" by|strong="G1722" the husband|strong="G0435": else|strong="G1893" were|strong="G2076" your|strong="G5216" children|strong="G5043" unclean|strong="G0169"; but|strong="G1161" now|strong="G3568" are they|strong="G2076" holy|strong="G0040".
15 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" the unbelieving|strong="G0571" depart|strong="G5563", let him depart|strong="G5563". A brother|strong="G0080" or|strong="G2228" a sister|strong="G0079" is|strong="G3756" not|strong="G3756" under bondage|strong="G1402" in|strong="G1722" such|strong="G5108" cases: but|strong="G1161" God|strong="G2316" hath called|strong="G2564" us|strong="G2248" to|strong="G1722" peace|strong="G1515".
16 For|strong="G1063" what|strong="G5101" knowest thou|strong="G1492", O wife|strong="G1135", whether|strong="G1487" thou shalt save|strong="G4982" thy husband|strong="G0435"? or|strong="G2228" how|strong="G5101" knowest thou|strong="G1492", O man|strong="G0435", whether|strong="G1487" thou shalt save|strong="G4982" thy wife|strong="G1135"?
17 But|strong="G1487" as|strong="G5613" God|strong="G2316" hath distributed|strong="G3307" to every man|strong="G1538", as|strong="G5613" the Lord|strong="G2962" hath called|strong="G2564" every one|strong="G1538", so|strong="G3779" let him walk|strong="G4043". And|strong="G2532" so|strong="G3779" ordain I|strong="G1299" in|strong="G1722" all|strong="G3956" churches|strong="G1577".
18 Is|strong="G2564" any man|strong="G5100" called|strong="G2564" being circumcised|strong="G4059"? let him|strong="G1986" not|strong="G3361" become uncircumcised|strong="G1986". Is|strong="G2564" any|strong="G5100" called|strong="G2564" in|strong="G1722" uncircumcision|strong="G0203"? let him|strong="G4059" not|strong="G3361" be circumcised|strong="G4059".
19 Circumcision|strong="G4061" is|strong="G2076" nothing|strong="G3762", and|strong="G2532" uncircumcision|strong="G0203" is|strong="G2076" nothing|strong="G3762", but|strong="G0235" the keeping|strong="G5084" of the commandments|strong="G1785" of God|strong="G2316".
20 Let every man|strong="G1538" abide|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" the same|strong="G3778" calling|strong="G2821" wherein|strong="G1722" he was called|strong="G2564".
21 Art thou called|strong="G2564" being a servant|strong="G1401"? care|strong="G3199" not|strong="G3361" for it|strong="G4671": but|strong="G0235" if|strong="G1487" thou mayest|strong="G1410" be made|strong="G1096" free|strong="G1658", use|strong="G5530" it rather|strong="G3123".
22 For|strong="G1063" he that|strong="G3588" is called|strong="G2564" in|strong="G1722" the Lord|strong="G2962", being a servant|strong="G1401", is|strong="G2076" the Lord’s|strong="G2962" freeman|strong="G0558": likewise|strong="G3668" also|strong="G2532" he that|strong="G3588" is called|strong="G2564", being free|strong="G1658", is|strong="G2076" Christ’s|strong="G5547" servant|strong="G1401".
23 Ye are bought|strong="G0059" with a price|strong="G5092"; be|strong="G1096" not|strong="G3361" ye|strong="G1096" the servants|strong="G1401" of men|strong="G0444".
24 Brethren|strong="G0080", let every man|strong="G1538", wherein|strong="G1722" he is called|strong="G2564", therein|strong="G1722" abide|strong="G3306" with|strong="G3844" God|strong="G2316".
25 Now|strong="G1161" concerning|strong="G4012" virgins|strong="G3933" I have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" commandment|strong="G2003" of the Lord|strong="G2962": yet|strong="G1161" I give|strong="G1325" my judgment|strong="G1106", as|strong="G5613" one that hath obtained mercy|strong="G1653" of|strong="G5259" the Lord|strong="G2962" to be|strong="G1511" faithful|strong="G4103".
26 I suppose|strong="G3543" therefore|strong="G3767" that this|strong="G5124" is|strong="G5225" good|strong="G2570" for|strong="G1223" the present|strong="G1764" distress|strong="G0318", I say, that|strong="G3754" it is good|strong="G2570" for a man|strong="G0444" so|strong="G3779" to be|strong="G1511".
27 Art thou bound|strong="G1210" unto a wife|strong="G1135"? seek|strong="G2212" not|strong="G3361" to be loosed|strong="G3080". Art thou loosed|strong="G3089" from|strong="G0575" a wife|strong="G1135"? seek|strong="G2212" not|strong="G3361" a wife|strong="G1135".
28 But|strong="G1161" and|strong="G2532" if|strong="G1437" thou marry|strong="G1060", thou hast|strong="G0264" not|strong="G3756" sinned|strong="G0264"; and|strong="G2532" if|strong="G1437" a virgin|strong="G3933" marry|strong="G1060", she hath|strong="G0264" not|strong="G3756" sinned|strong="G0264". Nevertheless|strong="G1161" such|strong="G5108" shall have|strong="G2192" trouble|strong="G2347" in the flesh|strong="G4561": but|strong="G1161" I|strong="G1473" spare|strong="G5339" you|strong="G5216".
29 But|strong="G1161" this|strong="G5124" I say|strong="G5346", brethren|strong="G0080", the time|strong="G4958" is short|strong="G3588": it remaineth|strong="G2076", that|strong="G2532" both|strong="G3588" they that|strong="G2192" have|strong="G1135" wives|strong="G5613" be as|strong="G3361" though|strong="G5600" they had|strong="G5600" none|strong="G2192";
30 And|strong="G2532" they|strong="G3588" that weep|strong="G2799", as though|strong="G5613" they wept|strong="G2799" not|strong="G3361"; and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G3588" that rejoice|strong="G5463", as though|strong="G5613" they rejoiced|strong="G5463" not|strong="G3361"; and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G3588" that buy|strong="G0059", as though|strong="G5613" they possessed|strong="G2722" not|strong="G3361";
31 And|strong="G2532" they|strong="G3588" that use|strong="G5530" this|strong="G5129" world|strong="G2889", as|strong="G5613" not|strong="G3361" abusing|strong="G2710" it: for|strong="G1063" the fashion|strong="G4976" of this|strong="G5127" world|strong="G2889" passeth away|strong="G3855".
32 But|strong="G1161" I would have|strong="G2309" you|strong="G5209" without carefulness|strong="G0275". He|strong="G3588" that is|strong="G1511" unmarried|strong="G0022" careth for|strong="G3309" the things|strong="G3588" that belong to the Lord|strong="G2962", how|strong="G4459" he may please|strong="G0700" the Lord|strong="G2962":
33 But|strong="G1161" he|strong="G3588" that is married|strong="G1060" careth for|strong="G3309" the things|strong="G3588" that are of the world|strong="G2889", how|strong="G4459" he may please|strong="G0700" his wife|strong="G1135".
34 There is difference|strong="G3307" also between|strong="G3307" a wife|strong="G1135" and|strong="G2532" a virgin|strong="G3933". The unmarried|strong="G0022" woman careth for|strong="G3309" the things|strong="G3588" of the Lord|strong="G2962", that|strong="G2443" she may be|strong="G5600" holy|strong="G0040" both|strong="G2532" in body|strong="G4983" and|strong="G2532" in spirit|strong="G4151": but|strong="G1161" she|strong="G3588" that is married|strong="G1060" careth for|strong="G3309" the things|strong="G3588" of the world|strong="G2889", how|strong="G4459" she may please|strong="G0700" her husband|strong="G0435".
35 And|strong="G1161" this|strong="G5124" I speak|strong="G3004" for|strong="G4314" your|strong="G5216" own|strong="G0846" profit|strong="G4851"; not|strong="G3756" that|strong="G2443" I may cast|strong="G1911" a snare|strong="G1029" upon you|strong="G5213", but|strong="G0235" for|strong="G4314" that which is comely|strong="G2158", and|strong="G2532" that ye may attend upon|strong="G2145" the Lord|strong="G2962" without distraction|strong="G0563".
36 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" any man|strong="G5100" think|strong="G3543" that|strong="G3739" he behaveth|strong="G0807" himself|strong="G0846" uncomely|strong="G0807" toward|strong="G1909" his virgin|strong="G3933", if|strong="G1437" she pass|strong="G5600" the flower of|strong="G5230" her age|strong="G5230", and|strong="G2532" need|strong="G3784" so|strong="G3779" require|strong="G1096", let him do|strong="G4160" what he will|strong="G2309", he sinneth|strong="G0264" not|strong="G3756": let them marry|strong="G1060".
37 Nevertheless|strong="G1161" he that|strong="G3739" standeth|strong="G2476" stedfast|strong="G1476" in|strong="G1722" his heart|strong="G2588", having|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3361" necessity|strong="G0318", but|strong="G1161" hath|strong="G2192" power|strong="G1849" over|strong="G4012" his own|strong="G2398" will|strong="G2307", and|strong="G2532" hath|strong="G2919" so|strong="G5124" decreed|strong="G2919" in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G0846" heart|strong="G2588" that he will keep|strong="G5083" his|strong="G1438" virgin|strong="G3933", doeth|strong="G4160" well|strong="G2573".
38 So|strong="G5620" then|strong="G2532" he|strong="G3588" that giveth|strong="G1547" her in marriage|strong="G1547" doeth|strong="G4160" well|strong="G2573"; but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G3588" that giveth|strong="G1547" her not|strong="G3361" in marriage|strong="G1547" doeth|strong="G4160" better|strong="G2908".
39 The wife|strong="G1135" is bound|strong="G1210" by the law|strong="G3551" as|strong="G1909" long|strong="G5550" as|strong="G3745" her|strong="G0846" husband|strong="G0435" liveth|strong="G2198"; but|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1437" her|strong="G0846" husband|strong="G0435" be dead|strong="G2837", she is|strong="G2076" at liberty|strong="G1658" to be married to|strong="G1060" whom|strong="G3739" she will|strong="G2309"; only|strong="G3440" in|strong="G1722" the Lord|strong="G2962".
40 But|strong="G1161" she is|strong="G2076" happier|strong="G3107" if|strong="G1437" she|strong="G3306" so|strong="G3779" abide|strong="G3306", after|strong="G2596" my|strong="G1699" judgment|strong="G1106": and|strong="G1161" I|strong="G2504" think|strong="G1380" also|strong="G2504" that I have|strong="G2192" the Spirit|strong="G4151" of God|strong="G2316".
