2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 Cuinevahnecun nchuhn Dihvo vo Jesucristo, ihyan min che redin ye che cuahtenan ne vahchetero numacuahn ro. Anduhneca̱ a̱ma tu che chaconda̱h veda̱me sa̱hn vihcherahto ro mena̱n, ne adive tumacadino se che tu min che tahque cochihve ca̱va na̱me yahn vah che rihno se ne, tihca̱ ihyan min, te a chihco vih Dendiohs ihyan ca̱va che ndeva ihyan iyehnse yavena̱n ye.

5 Nduhca̱ che retenda̱hnun sa̱hn vihcherahto tu che rahto se a̱ma ya̱co ne, tihca̱ ca̱h yune nchuhn che nedin da̱ma Dendiohs nchuhn ca̱va che conun Vaco Ndah yahn ye nchuhn, ne ndo ne anduhneca̱ chidocuya̱n ndah, din ne ntiyon yahn ye numacuahn vederihquentiyon yahn Dihvo vo Jesucristo.
5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Nchuhn ne, a ndihco vih Dendiohs nchuhn, a ndo ne anduhneca̱ ihyan nación yahn Israel. A ndo ne anduhneca̱ chidocuya̱n, rendeva ne yavena̱n Dihvo vo Jesucristo, ihyan min che ndina̱n ye yahn ne. A tenda̱hnun Dendiohs nchuhn che co ne ihyan yahn ye ca̱va che cuahndudo ne yahn vederihno rahte che din ye nduco ne. Ro mena̱n me ne, anduhneca̱ ndete che ntude ndutina̱n ne, ate din ye che chenahn ne ndudo ndah yahn ye.
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Ro mena̱n me ne, hua ndi cuande ne va̱n ihyan yahn ye, ate ma̱n ne, a nedin yahn ye nchuhn. Ro mena̱n me ne, vatema̱n ne, metah duh che quenan va̱hino nchuhn, ate ma̱n ne, renan va̱hino ye nchuhn.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Dihnó che yahinó nchuhn, che vate ne ya̱n va̱co ihyan, ricá nchuhn che hua ndere cuahtechica ne, cuahtendihco ne nunde, te chemin redin che rinda ihyan.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Ca̱va che quenda̱h yavena̱n Dihvo vo Jesucristo ne, codinahn ne yahn ihyan ndina̱n che rihquentiyon ye muhn iyehnse, emperador che tahque yudo vederihquentiyon yahn ye ma̱n,
13 — ausente —
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Tihca̱ nahn che din nchuhn, te nahn Dendiohs che runeca̱de cuahtechica ne ca̱va che nduco tihca̱ ne, nde na̱n che ca̱hma ihyan tundo metah.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Cuenevahnecun ne Dendiohs. Cuenevahnecun ne emperador. Cuenevahnecun ne queri a̱ma ihyan. Cuahtenan cuma ne vedeyahino va̱n ma̱n ne nduco vih che ritahno ne Dihvo vo Jesucristo.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Nchuhn che redin ne ntiyon yahn ihyan ne, numacuahn vedenecun codinahn ne yahn ihyan che redin nduco ne ntiyon, a ndah ihyan ye, o duhtuno ihyan ye.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Andahre rechuhrihn ne, ndere redin ta̱n ihyan nduco ne, ate ndete redin chahtino ne yahn che renevahnecun ne Dendiohs ne, quenda̱h yavena̱n ne.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Tihca̱ va che din chahtino nchuhn, te a ca̱va chemin che tenda̱hnun Dendiohs nchuhn. Dihvo vo Jesucristo ne, chuhrihn ye ca̱va nchuhn, ne tihyon yune ye nchuhn che quendi ne yune yahn ye.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Ihyan min ne, hua ndere quechica ye, quendihco ye nunde, nde hua chihncheh ye nde a̱ma ihyan.
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Cuahn che ra̱hva ihyan nduco ye ne, hua ndahconan ye ndudo ta̱n. Cuahn che redin ta̱n ihyan nduco ye ne, quenda̱h ye vedechahtino, ne nda̱hco ye nducuahn che redin ye ta̱h Dendiohs, ihyan min che retecheca̱de ye numa cua̱co.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 A ma̱n Dihvo vo Jesucristo chuhrihn ye, quenan ya̱h ye na̱n cruz, nedihve ye nunde yuhn vo, ca̱va che ca̱hcoma̱n vo nunde yuhn vo, ne runeca̱de cuahtechico vo. Chih ye ca̱va che ndedevahn ye uvo,
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 te ro mena̱n me ne, vatechica va̱ne vo anduhneca̱ itecuche che chinda te, ate ma̱n ne, nevahnecun vo Dihvo vo Jesucristo, ihyan min che redin ye cuda̱do uvo nduhca̱ ihyan che redin ye cuda̱do itecuche yahn ye.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
