5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 Ajta, ayén tɨjɨ́n:
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Mɨ́ seajta múꞌeen, ayée xu ꞌeen tɨ́j seica ɨ́ teɨte ɨ́ tɨ Dios huaꞌantíhuau, sej si siyen jamuan huateáturan. Múꞌeen xu seajta seꞌɨ́ɨn púꞌeen aꞌɨ́ɨme ɨ́ sej seɨj chuéjraꞌa japua éꞌemeꞌecan tɨ Dios ayén huateúraꞌate. Múꞌeen xu seajta teɨtestemuaꞌameꞌen púꞌeen ɨ́ Dios sej si siyen tihuaꞌutáꞌixaateꞌen ɨ́ sej jɨ́n rɨ́ꞌɨ tiratáꞌaca seꞌɨ́jna tɨ ayén amuaatajé. Setáꞌaj caí chéꞌe siyen áꞌujujhuaꞌaneꞌen aꞌu tɨ aꞌutɨ́caꞌa, sino sej si seꞌuun aꞌuteáturan ɨ́ jemin aꞌu tɨ áꞌuneeriꞌi sej si seꞌuun rɨ́ꞌɨ tiyéꞌeseijra.
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Aꞌájnáꞌɨmua, caxu teɨtestemuaꞌameꞌen púꞌeeneꞌecaꞌa ɨ́ Dios. Mɨ́ seajta íjii, xuꞌuri múꞌeen teɨtestemuaꞌameꞌen púꞌeen ɨ́ Dios. Aꞌajnáꞌɨmua, capúu xɨ amuáꞌacuꞌuvejcaꞌa aꞌɨ́jna ɨ́ Dios. Mɨ́ ajta íjii, aꞌɨ́ɨ pu ari amuáꞌacuꞌuve.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Ayee nu tejáꞌamuahuavii mɨ nej jáꞌamuaxeꞌeveꞌe sej siyen seijreꞌe matɨ́j aꞌɨ́ɨme ɨ́ mej seɨ́j chuéjraꞌa japua éꞌepuaseaaruveꞌe, naꞌari matɨ́j aꞌɨ́ɨme ɨ́ mej huaꞌutamuári. Caxu siyen taúraꞌacareꞌen sej siyen ráꞌastijreꞌe seꞌɨ́jna tɨ aꞌamua tzajtaꞌa huiiráninei tɨ aꞌij puaꞌa ꞌeen, tɨ ajta tíꞌiteseꞌe aꞌɨ́jna jetze ɨ́ áꞌamuaxɨejniuꞌuca.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Setáꞌaj siyen rɨ́ꞌɨ titeetiújchaꞌɨɨca huáꞌa jemi ɨ́ mej seɨj chuéjraꞌa japua éꞌemeꞌecan tɨ ij xɨ́ꞌepɨꞌɨn teꞌirájraꞌani tɨ puaꞌa miyen tiꞌitɨ́j jɨ́n aꞌij puaꞌa tejáꞌamuaxajta. Tɨ́ puaꞌa siyen rɨjca, ayée mú raseíira muáꞌajuꞌu sej xɨ́ꞌepɨꞌɨn huarɨ́j seꞌɨ́jna jɨmeꞌe ɨ́ mej jɨ́n aꞌij puaꞌa tejáꞌamuaxajtacaꞌa, majta miyen rɨ́ꞌɨ tiraatáꞌasin meꞌɨ́jna ɨ́ Dios aꞌájna xɨcáaraꞌan tɨ jetzen ajtahuaꞌa huataseíjreꞌesin itejmi jemi ɨ́ tavástaraꞌa.
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Setáꞌaj siyen huáꞌastijreꞌe matɨ́j menaꞌa puaꞌamé ɨ́ teɨte ɨ́ mej tiꞌitɨ́j jɨ́n antiújmuaꞌaree aꞌiné ayée pu titaatáꞌitɨiiriꞌi ɨ́ tavástaraꞌa. Tichéꞌe ráꞌastijreꞌe teꞌɨ́jna tɨ aꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n tiꞌitéjvee tɨ nain jɨ́n tiuꞌutaꞌaíjta, aꞌiné aꞌɨ́ɨ pu aꞌɨ́ɨn púꞌeen tɨ jaítzeꞌe veꞌecán jɨ́n tíꞌivaɨreꞌe.

14 Tichéꞌe teajta huáꞌastijreꞌe aꞌɨ́mej ɨ́ tajtúhuaani, aꞌiné aꞌɨ́jna tɨ nain jɨ́n tíꞌaijta, aꞌɨ́ɨ pu ayén huaꞌutaꞌítecaꞌa mej mi puaíjtzi huaꞌutáꞌan aꞌɨ́mej ɨ́ mej aꞌij puaꞌa tiꞌitiújchaꞌɨɨ, mej mi majta rɨ́ꞌɨ tihuaꞌatáꞌacareꞌen aꞌɨ́mej ɨ́ mej miyen rɨcɨ aꞌij tɨ tiraavíjteꞌe.
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Ayee pu xaa tíꞌijxeꞌeveꞌe ɨ́ Dios sej siyen rɨ́ꞌɨ titeetiújchaꞌɨɨca sej si seꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n huaꞌantimuáꞌitɨn aꞌɨ́mej ɨ́ mej caí mé úumuaꞌaree, mej mi caí chéꞌe miyen aꞌij puaꞌa tíꞌixajta, tɨ caí tiꞌitɨ́j vaɨreꞌe.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Setáꞌaj siyen rɨjca matɨ́j aꞌɨ́ɨme ɨ́ mej ruxɨéehua tíꞌimɨjhuaca. Mɨ́ seajta múꞌeen, caxu siyen titeetaújtuutuhuaꞌan sej aꞌij puaꞌa huárɨni, seajta siyen jetzen rujpuáꞌajteꞌen sej nuꞌu xɨ́ꞌepɨꞌɨn huarɨ́j seꞌɨ́jna jɨmeꞌe sej ruxɨéehua áꞌujujhuaꞌan. Setáꞌaj siyen rɨ́ꞌɨ titeetiújchaꞌɨɨca matɨ́j aꞌɨ́ɨme ɨ́ mej ravaɨreꞌe ɨ́ Dios.
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Setáꞌaj rɨ́ꞌɨ tihuáꞌajchaꞌɨɨ naíjmiꞌica aꞌij tɨ tiraavíjteꞌe. Setáꞌaj huáꞌaxeꞌeveꞌe ɨ́ taꞌihuaamuaꞌa ɨ́ mej majta téꞌatzaahuateꞌe. Setáꞌaj ráꞌateseꞌe ɨ́ Dios. Setáꞌaj seajta rɨ́ꞌɨ tiraateájtuaani aꞌɨ́jna ɨ́ tajtuhuan tɨ nain jɨ́n tíꞌaijta íiyen chuéjraꞌa japua.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Seajta múꞌeen, mɨ sej caꞌanéeri jɨ́n tíꞌimɨjhuaca, setáꞌaj huaꞌaráꞌastijreꞌen aꞌij tɨ tiraavíjteꞌe aꞌɨ́mej ɨ́ mej tejáꞌamuaꞌaíiteꞌe. Setáꞌaj huáꞌastijreꞌe aꞌachú mej puaꞌamé. Caxu aꞌɨ́mej senaꞌa tɨ puaꞌa miyen rɨ́ꞌɨ tejamuájchaꞌɨɨ, naꞌari mej rɨ́ꞌɨ tíꞌiteteɨte, naꞌari tɨ puaꞌa aꞌij puaꞌa metíꞌiteteɨte, setáꞌaj naíjmiꞌica áꞌastijreꞌe.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Jee xaa neꞌu, ayée pu Dios rɨ́ꞌɨ tiraateátuaasin aꞌɨ́jna ɨ́ jaꞌatɨ tɨ puaꞌa aꞌɨ́ɨn ayén raꞌutámuaꞌaree ɨ́ Dios, ajta aꞌɨ́ɨn ayén teꞌutáviicuaꞌi tɨ puaꞌa seɨ́j ayén puaíjtzi raatáꞌan tɨ caí ayén tiraavíjteꞌe.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Aru tɨ puaꞌa ayén puaíjtzi muáacɨꞌɨti aꞌɨ́jna jɨmeꞌe pej piyen aꞌij puaꞌa huarɨ́j, tɨ puaꞌa piyen peꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n teꞌutáviicuaꞌi temuaꞌa naa, capu aꞌatzu aꞌij timuaatévaꞌɨri. Naꞌari caí, tɨ puaꞌa peri xɨ́ꞌepɨꞌɨn huarɨ́j, tɨ puaꞌa peꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n rajpuaíjtzi, pajta piyen teꞌutáviicuaꞌi temuaꞌa naa, Dios pu rɨ́ꞌɨ timuaateátuaasin.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Jee xaa neꞌu, Dios pu ayén aꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n amuaatajé sej siyen rajpuaíjtzi, seajta teꞌutáviicuaꞌi, aꞌiné aꞌɨ́jna ɨ́ Cɨríistuꞌu aꞌamua jetze meꞌecan pu rajpuaíitzi jáꞌaraa.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Capu tiꞌitɨ́j jɨ́n auteájturaa ɨ́ Dios jemi. Capu ajta jaꞌanáj tiuꞌuhuáꞌitacaꞌa.
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Matɨ́ꞌɨj miyen raꞌajtéꞌaxɨ, aꞌɨ́ɨ pu caí ayén huaꞌajtéꞌaxɨ aꞌɨ́mej. Matɨ́ꞌɨj puaíjtzi raatáꞌa, ni capu ayén tihuaꞌuxájtziꞌiriꞌi, sino ayée pu huataújtuiiriꞌi aꞌɨ́jna jemi tɨ ayén tzáahuatiꞌiraꞌa jɨ́n tihuáꞌaxɨjteꞌe.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Aꞌɨ́ɨ pu ruseɨ́j rajpuaíitzi jáꞌaraa ɨ́ ru jetze ɨ́ ta jetze meꞌecan aꞌɨ́jna jɨmeꞌe ɨ́ tej jɨ́n auteájturaa ɨ́ Dios jemi. Ayee pu aꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n huarɨ́j tej ti tiyen raatapuáꞌajta ɨ́ tej jɨ́n atéꞌɨtzeaꞌara ɨ́ Dios jemi. Múꞌeen xu seꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n huarúj seꞌɨ́jna jɨmeꞌe tɨ aꞌɨ́ɨn rajpuaíjtzicaꞌa.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Aꞌájnáꞌɨmua, ayée xu seijreꞌecaꞌa matɨ́j ɨ́ cáneꞌaxɨ tɨ caí jaꞌatɨ́ huáꞌaseɨreꞌe. Mɨ́ ajta íjii, xuꞌuri seꞌɨ́jna jemi tiújseɨj, seꞌɨ́jna jemi tɨ aꞌamua cujtaꞌa huaméꞌen, tɨ ajta aꞌɨ́jna jɨ́n antiújmuaꞌaree tɨ nain jɨ́n aꞌamua japua huániuuni.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
