⁵ yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.

¹⁵ Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

¹⁶ as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

¹⁸ 'Nia'₂ guë'₂ dsa₂ i₂jme₂ti₃ ta₁ ne₄ dsa₂, tión'₂ 'nia'₂ 'ei₅ gau₂ ca₂le₃jë́₃ 'e₂ te₂néi'₂ juɨg'₂ 'nia'₂. Ca₂tɨ́n'₂ 'nia'₂ jme₁ti'₄, on₃jua'₅₄ jmá'₃ ne₄ dsa₂ dsen₃ i₂juɨn'₂ dsɨ́₅; ca₂tɨ́n'₂ bá₄ 'nia'₂ jme₁ti'₄ le₂jiog₅ ne₄ dsa₂ i₂tsau₂ dsɨ́₅ në́₃.

¹⁸ Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.

¹⁹ Ia₁ ja₂lɨn₃ guë́₄ dse₃ të₂tsɨn'₅₄ dsa₂ ne₄ Diú₄ jme₁jmo₂₃ tió'₃ dsɨ́₅ ŋág₅ uɨg₅ on₃jua'₅₄ a₂cha₂ rɨin₂, ne₄ ia₁ a₂lí'₄ dsɨ́₅ a₂'ŋio₂ dsɨ́₅ Diú₄ bá₄.

¹⁹ For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

²⁰ For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.

²¹ Ia₁ ta₁ jaun₂ ma₂ca₂rë₃të́₄ 'nia'₂, ia₁ ján₃ bá₄ ca₂ŋág₃ Cristo uɨg₅ o₄quián'₂ 'nia'₂, a₂ca₂quiog₂ caun₂ juɨ₅ ia₁jaun₂ le₂në₅ i₁nio'₄ 'nia'₂ juɨ₁lia'₂ ca₂ŋɨ₃ 'ŋiog₅.

²¹ For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:

²² 'I₁caun₂ dso₄ tsá₃ 'e₂ ca₂'náu₂,

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

²³ who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;

²⁴ Le₂në₅ bá₄ ca₂cáun₃ Cristo juɨ₅ nɨ₁ŋɨ₁₂ 'ŋiog₅ dsáu₁ jniog₄ jme₁ca₂ŋó₃ ne₄ cróg₄ ia₁jaun₂ dsióg₃ jniog₄ ne₄ dso₄, a₂le₃chong₂ táng₃, quián₁ caun₂ juɨ₅ co₂dsau₅; ne₄ a₂qui₂ca₂cuɨ́n'₂ Cristo ca₂'lón'₂ bá₄ 'nia'₂.

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.

²⁵ For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
